Haven't been here for a while but I remember loving it previously. Salsa is fresh and unique to typical Mexican red sauce at restaurants. Beyond that I was disappointed. Ordered the chile Colorado burrito, the beef was shredded, not chunks and although it was cooked in red sauce, did not taste like the typical flavor at all. The shrimp tacos had dry bland shrimp and the double shells immediately fell apart so had to use a fork. The service is excellent so I'll be back to try other dishes. read more

My husband and I love Mexican food. We were in Sparks and came across La Fuente. Our daughter was with us, and is also a fan of Mexican food. The place is very colorful, just like Mexico. We were greeted by I believe was the owner and is a very funny and pleasant man. My daughter and I got the Cadillac margaritas while the hubby got a coke as he was driving. I would've like another one but we had things to do. I got the carnitas, which I split with my daughter, and it came with rice and beans. My husband got a carnitas burrito which was too big for him so he took the rest home. We all enjoyed our drinks and meals. The service was wonderful! The only time this place has failed us, is when it is not open on Sundays. This is the best Mexican restaraunt in town (Sparks). My husband and I come here for date night every blue moon, and the food is always high quality and nothing to complain about. Just the BEST. I've been going to this restaurant since it was open many moons ago and yes, there have been several owners, but I love the current owners, they have been absolutely wonderful to me, my husband and all of our friends we have bought there! My favorite waiter is Jose, he has been there since the beginning !! He knows my drink and my order by heart! The food is very good and the people make you feel like family! Not a lot of restaurants left like that! They make excellent Cadillac Margaritas!! The chimichanga has been my very favorite since the day I started going there! I have been to La Fuente before, but never wrote a review. I actually enjoyed the food and had excellent service. The ambiance is your typical Mexican Restaurant, with decor, etc. I had the Tampiqueña, which is basically Arrechera Steak, Rice, Beans and Guacamole with a Cheese Enchilada. And the margarita pitchers are perfect for girls night! I've ordered a number of things on the menu but my go to's are the carne asada and enchiladas. Chips and salsa for free is elite. They pour mean Cadillac margaritas. No happy hour but they assure you that you will leave happy. Forgot to take photos of the food but they have good prices and expensive things as well so you won't break the bank and you get authentic Mexican. Service is efficient, ambiance is very chill. Best authentic Mexican food in Sparks, I eat out everyday due to my living situation and La Fuente is the 1# spot in Sparks. It's just high quality, the guacamole is ridiculously good for being what seems so simple, not super smooth like a paste but like a bit of chunkiness to it like how you'd have it at home but much better. Can't give a good description to their meats but they are all amazing, there's no bland or meh food at all. The meats alone can be slapped on a shell and that's all it needs. Price wise, I've never eaten an entire meal in one sitting as they give you more than enough. You'd be a fool to not stop in a try, nobody else in Sparks compares. read more

We have not been here since pre-Covid. Kids no longer go to Reed high school, so we don't get to this part of town much. It's too bad, because this place is really awesome. I arrived at 8:30 PM. The place was pretty packed and there were three groups waiting to be seated. I decided to sit at the bar while waiting for my wife to get off work. Ernesto made me my first Cadillac margarita, and I started talking to another couple (Al and Michelle) at the bar. It ended up being quite a social evening. Luis and Ernesto took very good care of me and my wife. The plan was to get a table when my wife arrived, but we Decided to eat at the bar. What we ordered: Cadillac margarita on the rocks no salt Peach margarita Chicken enchilada dinner Chile Relleno À la cart, with some shredded beef on it. The food was really good. I had my wife order the larger plate and I was going to eat one of her enchiladas. However, I watched her as she kept cutting away little bits of my enchilada and I told her to just go ahead and eat it lol. She really enjoyed it that much. Also the Chile Relleno was really good. They do have some really good chips and salsa also. Ernesto was quite a funny guy. He joked around quite a bit. I asked if he was the regular bartender, he said there's no real bartender. Everyone's a bartender, waiter, host, busser... Answers the phone. Post Covid help is scarce. Service didn't seem to hurt because of this. Really was a great evening. We will come back. It's been quite some time since we've been here, it used to be our go to and we remembered why that was with this visit. It's usually very busy and this time was no different which we were happy to see. Everything was easy, we had to wait no more than a minute to be seated and the staff was as friendly as ever. The food, flavorful as usual and filling! Delicious as always!! Please try their queso fundido with chorizo and rajas if you like a fun and filling appetizer. The only reason for the 4 stars this visit is because they were out of the fish (we went for the fish, it's our favorite dish, especially when made a la veracruzana) and they didn't notify us until after we put in our order. We also asked for water when we first arrived and had to remind them a couple of times before we got any. Lafuente is a Resturant I've gone to a couple times over the years and it's always a memorable place. Delicious authentic mexican food, awesome service, a great selection of drinks (both non alcoholic and alcoholic) probably the best chips and salsa in town. I love the Tinga de Camarón and their horchata and I order it all the time. But their entire menu has something great for everyone! It's a wonderful place for families and date nights. La Fuente is located off of Baring Blvd in Sparks. They are open from 11am-9pm Sunday through Monday. The restaurant is a good size, however, if you have a large party, I would recommend calling first for a reservation. Everyone was very friendly and the food was delicious! I highly recommend the chicken fajitas! They were mouth watering! The margaritas were delicious, but I must say the Piña colada is where it was at! I have dined in and have ordered food for pickup. Both options were wonderful. I ordered the fajitas, both times and was not at all disappointed. You can taste the food quality! There is a small outside patio. Comes very close to mine.. the flavor of real avocados and not mixed with the fake guacamole!! Salsa was also good. Hubby got the beef enchiladas suiza, and I got a beef taco and chicken enchilada. Hubby really liked his dinner and I liked the enchilada. I prefer my tacos with a slight crunchy shell, instead of the double corn tortillas (except when I want street tacos). I've heard great things about this restaurant, so I knew that I had to check it out. I went for lunch and it was fairly quiet in the restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. We were seated quickly and brought chips and salsa. We ordered a cazuela to drink and it came out fast. The drink was good, but had more ice than liquid. I ordered the chicken burrito combo and that came out even faster than the drink. The beans were delicious, cooked to perfection and not too salty. The rice was excellent. The flavors were perfect and the rice had the perfect consistency - definitely not soggy. The chicken burrito itself wasn't my favorite. The shredded chicken just made the entire burrito extremely soggy and made the burrito fall apart. The chicken was lacking flavor and the burrito overall was bland. I will be coming back to try out another dish and hoping that it will be better. read more

We just settled nearby and decide to give this place a whirl, and boy howdy am I glad we did. I always consider it a good sign when the tortilla chips are clearly made in house and made well, which is definitely the case here. For dinner I got the chimichanga because I'm a boring white guy and that's what I always get. I cut off a corner, took a bite, and looked up at my wife with wide eyes as I said, "Oh! *That's* what these are supposed to taste like!" It was super light and crisped to perfection. Wow and a half. My wife got the La Fuente combo: one taco, one burrito, one enchilada, and got one of eat meat. The shredded beef was by far her favorite, and she recommends it whole-heartedly. For desert, we got the fried ice cream, because of course we did. It's the corn flake style breading which isn't necessarily my jam, but the shell was *magnificent*.
