The food was fine, as always. My two friends had taco/tamale combo, I had fish tacos, and we enjoyed chips, salsa a quac before dinner. We arrived one at a time, beginning our meal at about 4:45PM on a Friday, 5/15/26. After we finished, we were aske 3 times if we were ready to close out, which we did. We were still talking (3 booths open within sight, two tables available near us, and they had pulled three together for a group - all empty). A server came by our table and said, "Can you leave, we are expecting a big group." I have NEVER been asked to leave a restaurant like that!! I said, "We need to go, let's go." and left. Love this local Mexican food spots close to home. They have bowls that come with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, salsa, and choice of meat for $13, such a great deal and very filling. Elvia was our waitress and she got my order PERFECT. I ordered an a la carte Chili Relleno with extra sauce and extra cheese. It was perfect. Rellenos are my favorite and I've had a hard time finding great ones. This is a great one. My friend ordered the taco salad in the shell. It was also delicious and so big she couldn't eat it all. The mild salsa is mainly chopped seasoned tomatoes like pico but without the onions and peppers which is my FAVORITE! I'm basically in heaven here. I have always loved Murreitas food. The chicharron tacos ARE the prize! The Pambazois also very good. Asada nachos are always winning. The ceviche is always immaculate and the pineapple salsa for chips is amazing. Staff is always helpful and gracious. Most of the time we get things to go or delivery. On the last visit to the Sparks location I realized the dining room needs a lot of help. Trash under the tables. Many of the seats and chairs needed some attention. The carpet is about 10 years past due for replacement. Ownership might want look into vinyl floors as it's easier to clean up. The carpet has gotta go. Please invest in your dining room. read more

One of my favorite local restaurants! The food is consistent, the menu has variety, the wait times are not long, and the staff are friendly. We walked in and got a booth around 5:30pm. Each table is served chips and two salsas with a pico di gallo and a spicier salsa. We each ordered combo plates and I got the chicken enchilada and the chicken tamale. The food was fresh and tasty - the green sauce on the tamale was a bit spicy and the red sauce on the enchilada was more mild. Each combo plate comes with refried beans and rice. Murrietas is always a consistently good Mexican spot that we have been going to for years. It is the best I have found in the Sparks area. The ambiance is traditional with comfortable seating. The food comes out hot everytime (big deal for me!) and always tastes fresh. My favorite here is the chile relleno. Coupon from Murrieta's can be misleading. Think they forgot what the function of a coupon is, to get you in and show you by their service, and food, that their business is well worth returning. Another great night at Murrietas on Vista. I almost feel like they will start yelling NORM! when we walk in - because we come here so often. Tonight ws - Anaheim Popper (always) to share and I had the fish tacos, he had the carnitas in green sauce - so good! We ordered a pitcher of margs for the table -- and we went with Mezcal instead of Tequila. And guess what...??? We got the WORM! DH ate it -- but I stayed with just the mezcal margs. I've had Murrieta's so many times now since I've been in Sparks, I've lost count. I recently found out some new friends love this location in the summer (patio margs after golf). I still love their mole enchilada and Birria tacos. I also can't stop with their rice, beans and salsa! Huge disappointment. We have not been here for almost a year because we live further out now but made the drive to eat their for our Valentine's Day Dinner We had four in our party. We went very early 345pm to beat the rush. We were excited to order their famous delicious calamari that we always get when we go there. Well it was horrible! It was not the usual and came looking just like cheese sticks and tasted awful and was a very small portion. We did not even finish it. My taco salad with grilled chicken I took three bites and could not eat it the chicken was so bad. They even changed their once amazing salsa. Such a disappointment especially for the cost. I don't understand why they have low stars, but every time I come here I very much enjoy the experience. They were quick to have my house margarita, chips and salsa and food ready for us. If they had cabbage salsa, I think it would have made everything even better. My boyfriend had the mole enchiladas and I had the grilled fish tacos. Both were sooooo good! But, the fish was my favorite. It tasted fresh and was what I needed. I did steal my boyfriend's guac and sour cream which made it even better! First time at Murrietas with friends for a Birthday dinner. Food was very good , I had a taco salad with ground beef served with rice and beans on the side. Good size portions and tasty food, chips and salsa were really good , they have an extra spicy salsa if you request it so if you like a little extra heat, go for it! My wife had fajitas and said they were delicious. The staff were awesome, very personable, we got smiles and warm hospitality from everyone we dealt with, not something you feel at most restaurants so definitely 5 stars for the lovely people running the restaurant, felt like a family run establishment. The Chips were just okay and not served warm and I really didn't care for either salsa. One is a dried pepper purée sauce with little pizzaz while the other was a pico that was probably from the day before. The beans were real good but the rice was plain,not very much flavor at all. Enchilada and taco were decent enough.The Grilled Chicken salad,while misrepresented on the menu was very fresh and plentiful. It had different lettuces than listed yet they were crisp and fresh. It was called a Chicken Ranch salad yet had very little dressing,vinegar and oil but had large chunks of mango and jicama that were delicious! The staff was friendly and accommodating. This place is small and intimate with amazing customer service. As soon as we walked in, we got seated and served water with chips and salsa. We ordered cocktails that came from the bar rather quickly. For food we ordered the chicken mole Enchiladas and the Chile Verde combination plate. The pork in the chile Verde was nicely prepared to a perfect tenderness, the sauce was mild, not too spicy. Both plates were delicious. However, over the last year or so, I've seen a steady decline in food quality and service. This weekend finally did it for me.. I'm done with this place. Wife and I sat at the bar and ordered our food. Bartender took our order and didn't write anything down. When we got our food my order was all screwed up. When I bring it to the bartender's attention she gives me a bunch of attitude. Like it's my fault she got it wrong? I couldn't help but laugh at the whole experience. Worst service ever. Food ordinary, some not fresh. I was the only customer in mid-afternoon. An unsmiling, sullen, quiet guy led me to a table. There was pico de gallo on the table wilted and looking like it was there for a long long time. It was at least 15 minutes before an unsmiling woman took my order. Then another 15 minutes passed and another unsmiling woman emerged and took the order again. It was a long time coming. I waited who knows how long for my check. The sullen guy passed by a few times and I spoke to him and waved at him, but he ignored me. These people do not want any customers.
