OUR FAVORITE!! We go here every Sunday. Amazing customer service and the food is always to die for. Sunday is their busiest days so you just have to be patient but TRUST the food is worth the wait. My go to are the green chicken enchiladas but i sometimes switch it up to steak tacos. However, EVERYTHING is always so delicious. The green salsa is my FAVORITE. I ordered a veggie burrito off their online menu: "Veggie Veggie Burrito $12.50 Flour tortilla, whole beans, cheese, guacamole, tomatoes, and lettuce". They sent my husband home with a grilled burrito full of slimy overcooked vegetables, overcooked rice, and refried beans. It was gross. I took it back over there and then they said they didn't have veggie burritos. They said they couldn't change their online menu. So, I ordered a ceviche tostada as a replacement. Counter girl made me pay for it but offered a discount. What? We will never buy dinner there again. The ceviche was also gross, full of ketchup. If this kind of food is what you like, go for it. Full confession, we usually eat at another place in Cashmere but it was closed on Tuesdays so we found this place. It looked and tasted just like you were eating at someone's home where their grandmother prepared fresh tortillas and telero breads. We split the grilled burrito, torta and not on the menu was the tastiest Chile Relleno ever. So tasty. I should have ordered extra to take home to Everett. We will be back to test more dishes, the ladies were full of smiles and though busy, we were served promptly and with a smile. read more

Let me preface this review with the fact the original owners are back and have only been open for 3 weeks. This is not the Pavs owners anymore. I ordered my old favorite a grilled burrito with pico de gallo (shredded beef). So nice to have it again. It was sure tasty. I asked about the old taco tuesday deals and they said no at the moment. They still need to put up a menu board, etc. its a work in progress. So, i will revisit after a few months to update this review. Nice and clean inside and many original items. It's super reasonably priced, the salsa and guac are among the best I've ever had here or Mexico, portions are huge, super amazing. Stopped here on the way to Mazama. Ordered quesabirria and veggie sopes. Both were absolutely out of this world, best Mexican food I've ever had in Washington state. I especially appreciated that the vegetarian option was not phoned in like it is at many Mexican restaurants out in the country. A solid tacqueria. The adobada was the most flavorful with the chorizo unusually mild. The carnitas had a nice slow roasted flavor but needed some salsa to come alive. They put pinto beans in the tacos which adds some nice texture and flavor. Gonna have to stop by here next trip to Chelan! read more

Food is pretty cheap here. This is what-you-pay- is-what-you-get type of restaurant. Food isn't bad but not great either. I came here around 2 pm and it was still very busy. There were only two servers working in the restaurant. We asked for napkins and utensils for a few times, but the server was way too busy to get us utensils. We end up eating with hands No hard feelings because they were very kind and nice. I think they just need to hire more employees. read more

A diamond in the rough. NEVER!!! ...have I been disappointed by this place. Although the price has crept up over the years, to keep up with inflation, it's still one of the most reasonable places you'll find. The food has basic ingredients, but the quality of those ingredients surpass most others. Nice, patient staff in a modest establishment. I might take a day in here, expecting her only to be impressed by the food. But that matters most to me. I'm a big fan of the chicken burrito with verde salsa. I've lived in Seattle for more than a decade. It's a big city with a lot of great food. But for Mexican food, this place is the best I've found yet in WA. Why is there not a sixth star? Uncanny. I was on a short hike at the Peshastin Pinnacles and wanted a quick lunch in the area. This place came up tops on Yelp and, my goodness, I couldn't be happier it did. I ordered a grilled burrito with birria. Ecstasy! This is the first time I've ever found a place in WA that could toast a tortilla right to the point of perfection. Each bite, laden with birria goodness, danced along the impossibly delightful line of crunchy and melty in my mouth. When I finished devouring my burrito, I could only wish I had room in my stomach to finish another. No trip across US-2 will ever be the same again. read more

People were nice and food was average. However, it is not really traditional Mexican food for me. I'm not Mexican, but I had real Mexican food. When I saw the name "El Chavo" I thought who could use such a name unless it was great Mexican food. So expect very Americanized Mexican average food. It was pricey and what really offended me was the fact that they gave us store bought chips!!! We paid for chips and they gave us store bought chips. Incredible "street" tacos on handmade tortillas, generous amount of filling -- I had carnitas, carne asada, and chorizo. Traditional sweet onion and cilantro, salsa on the side is excellent. Fellow traveler enjoyed lengua quesadilla. We did takeout but the place has a great ambiance with a nice deck, a cooler with beers, and a limited liquor selection. Absolutely clean. I've eaten at Sal's "Taqueria el Chavo" for about 8 years before he sold it this summer. I've now eaten at the new Taco Chavo three times. I miss Sal. Take aways: good and bad. Prices up, decor better, food NOT AS GOOD, bathroom better. 1) the marinated pork is nearly flavorless. Sal's back-of-house staff marinated the meat much longer and used sour oranges and trimmed off excess fat and then braised the meat much longer. The new Mgt's style has larger chunks of pork but also much more fat. Big white chunks of unrendered fat. Did I mention much less flavor too?? 2) the carne asada is also less flavorful. Maybe the old version of carne asada when Sal owned the place might have been a tad dry but it sure packed that flavor of caramelized meat. Now...not even remotely as good. Moist but a lot less flavor. 3) Ordered green enchiladas and expected it to be smothered in tangy tomatillos sauce... HUGE(!!) disappointment to find 3 dry enchiladas and two tiny plastic capped servings of tomatillo sauce. These are the SMALLEST of the fast food ketchup/tartar sauce cups. 2 tiny cups for 3 enchiladas. That's a crime. 4) Beef tongue is no longer an option on many things. 5) The open tacos are now filled with boiled beans to stretch the meat. Yeah, it'll fill you up longer with solid legume protein... but it further dilutes the already scant flavor of the meat you were looking forward to. At least the men's room toilet handle is finally fixed and there's a new coat of paint. But... the food?? Long Sighhhhh. Oh, almost forgot to mention, they're pivoting to formal sit down and not catering to the walk-in crowd. No more wall mounted menu + the sign: "Please Wait To Be Seated" read more

This is the best restaurant in Cashmere. I have lived in Cashmere for nearly two decades. The restaurants here have come and gone, but the food at Taqueria el Chavo is the best Cashmere has ever tasted. The prices are reasonable, and the ingredients are simple but of high quality. The staff are courteous and the range of options are abundant. I have been eating here since it opened up and the quality has remained consistently high. People who are vegetarian can eat here as well. read more

Our quest for the best tacos in the greater Wenatchee area has just begun and suffice to say "we may have a winner"! Plenty of flavorful meat (you can add your own spice with homemade sauces) atop fresh (homemade?) tortillas with just the right amount of cilantro and onion. On Mondays tacos are $1. Talk about a value meal! The horchata is just the right amount of sweet meets earth and the holy water is a must try. I used to love their mole sauce but the new management it now has some unrecognizable red sauce without the chocolate based savor the flavor

I hate to say this, but avoid eating here. I didn't want to believe the other reviewers but I paid the price. What used to be tasty burrito filled with fresh veggies and real meat was replaced with canned chicken and loads of cheese and beans. Gross. Very good! Homemade, fresh and delicious Our server told us everything is made from scratch and nothing comes out of a can. The green enchilada was amazing even had grilled corn in it, tacos were just right, the marinated pork was especially tasty. The perfect stop between Seattle and Chelan. First, let me say that the food is great. We put down a deposit for catering for a wedding rehearsal dinner back in MARCH for a JULY wedding. We arranged for a "taco bar"-style setting for 25, paid a $200 deposit (in check) and got our names in their appointment book/ledger. The owner, Sal, spoke w/ my wife directly. The check was cashed shortly thereafter, and the week before the wedding, I dropped in for lunch, and to make sure everything was still ready for the coming weekend. I indeed saw our names in their ledger, and was assured that we'd be able to pick up the order early in the evening on that Friday. Friday comes, and during the day of the rehearsal, my mother in law goes to pick up the food. She shows up, and the people working behind the counter have "no idea" who we were, what we ordered, had no record of the order, and even said "We wouldn't have made this order without a deposit, we only do things like this with a deposit." It took my wife basically printing her bank statement, and taking it down to the restaurant to *prove* that we had an order. The owner, Sal, had no recollection of dealing with her or what we wanted. Sigh. In the end, once they realized that they indeed had taken a deposit, they made the food we had to order. Our family brought the food back to the house, and about an hour and a half later, some women who worked there came by our house to pick up all the serving dishes. We simply said we weren't finished with dinner, and they'd either have to come back, or that we'd drop off their supplies in the morning. So, while the food is delicious, I guess the old phrase "trust, but verify," takes hold. And by verify, I mean, I guess nag the ever loving crap out of the staff and "Sal" to make sure we're all on the same page. Sheesh. read more

This is a locals place and it took us a few minutes to figure out everything. But the people are nice and speak both English and Spanish natively. There are two parts to the menu, the "standard" Mexican stuff is listed behind the counter and the more fancy dishes have pictures, names and prices over the windows between the door and the counter. You order at the counter, pay and they bring the food to the table along with a green salsa. Both my wife and I ordered the more fancy dishes. She ordered the Tamales Poblanos, which was very good. I had the Red Mole Enchiladas and also found it very good. We would come back, there are many more choices we would try. read more

My MIL lives in Cashmere. On a visit a decade or so ago I discovered this place. It was fabulous! One of the problems I often found with many Mexican restaurants is that heat frequently substituted for flavor, spicy hot but bland. Not at his place, lotsa flavor. So whenever back in town looked forward to eating here. Well, back for visit today and went down to get some enchiladas. Hmmm, not Taqueria El Chavo anymore, now Tacos El Chavo. No menu up on the wall as before. Well, give it a try. Sadly, as other reviews I read after the fact noted, the prices have gone up and the quality has declined. I got some enchiladas mole. Not like any mole I've ever eaten, was something called red mole? Best described as bland and dry. Guess won't be eating here next time I'm back. read more

The restaurant just recently underwent some remodeling and got new tables. They must have also underwent new management and changed their menu because a lot of their meat recipes changed as well which we did not enjoy. I will give this place another try but my last experience did not leave me wanting more. read more
