The truck sits in the parking lot of Calistoga Liquors. The male staff took customer orders while the female staff prepared them. I ordered a carne asada super wet burrito that was pretty good. The meat was tender and lean. They used whole pinto beans and I prefer refried. But there were so many. If I go back I will get light beans for sure. When my order was ready I asked if the grilled jalapeño was inside my order, and was told yes. Glad I checked before I drove off because it wasn't inside the bag or container. I really liked the burrito but a little salsa or hot sauce would have put it over top for me. read more

Had these guys bring the truck to a wedding weekend pool party in Calistoga. I'm from LA and am pretty snobby when it comes to legit street tacos, but Jose's got em. These were bomb and all my guests loved them. Jose even hooked up the shrimp and birria specials. So good! Great service, great vibe, great tacos, and great price to feed nearly 50 people for 2 hours. Don't pay for a truck's paint job. Pay for the food and service. read more

We had lunch at La Gitana Taco truck while in Calistoga. We ordered the wet burrito and it was easily enough to share between two people. The food was very good. There are some picnic tables available to eat at and you can go next door to the general store to purchase drinks if you wish. While the food was good, I would say it's a tad overpriced ($18 for a food truck burrito). It was a nice change of pace and we got to enjoy the beautiful weather while we ate. read more

We were absolutely STARVING and running late to our reservation for a wine tasting and needed something tasty and fast. We got all sorts of recommendations for delis and little shops all over the area and when I looked on Yelp, noticed the stellar reviews and that we were literally 2 minutes away- SOLD! The taco truck is on an unassuming corner with a little store right off the highway. I was having a hard time deciding what to get but we settled on two Super Burritos- one with carne asada and one with carnitas. Both were AMAZING and holy cow did those hit the spot before an afternoon of wine tasting! The burritos were massive, we probably could've split one easily. They were both ready super fast too which we really appreciated. I have been dreaming of how freaking awesome those burritos were ever since and I'm no stranger to Mexican and New Mexican food. However, if you're sensitive to spice, take it easy because they did have a kick. I was all about it- I wish we could've visited again because so many things on the menu looked great. We had to hit the road and they were well packaged for us with a plate, sauteed onions (yum!), roasted jalapeno, and salsa. These folks are hardworking and dedicated to the service they provide. Delicious authentic food at a reasonable price. Generous portions too. Apologies for the poor food pics. It's actually their fault. The food is so good we always dive right in and belatedly think of photos. That said you can still tell from the remaining 2/3 of my nachos depicted in the photo, they are fully loaded with tons of meat. This is a popular truck located in a convenient store lot. I ordered 4 tacos so I could try them all (al pastor, carne asada, carnitas and pollo). Surprisingly, I enjoyed the pollo the most. They were all good but the pollo was slightly better than the others. They did add a grilled jalapeño and grilled onions. The jalapeño was a bit bland (?) and the onions were not cooked enough so they were strong! Taco's are $2.50 each. The burritos seemed a bit pricy. They also offer sandwiches. If in the area, stop and give them a try. read more

Jose and La Gitana catered our Friday night Welcome Party for our wedding at Triple S Ranch (approximately 100 guests). He was so flexible and easy to work with, and was extremely understanding when we had to jump through a few venue hoops. The food was great and our guests were really happy with the assortment of options. Last vineyard before lunch was 'Lava Vine' a really cool up tempo winery so on asking where we should get lunch they recommended the 'Taco Truck' at the end of Tubbs. We found it and we're not disappointed.. The pork was probably the best I have had anywhere so big up to the recommendation all-be-it not the expected place a lot of wine wannabes will chose to eat. I rarely give 5 stars to any review unless I am thoroughly impressed. La Gitana deserves it! There are several Mexican restaurants in Calistoga and neighboring St. Helena. This little food truck simply blows every one of those restaurants away! A word to the others, putting lettuce in a burrito is like putting ketchup on a hot dog. You just don't do it! I haven't had all of the menu items at La Gitana, and there is a great selection. But everything I've had is consistently good. This is a no-brainer, you gotta try them when you are in the area. read more
