    Seafood linguine
    Deanne M.

I came here with some friends and it was all our first time trying this restaurant. We ordered the beef carpaccio to share as an appetizer and it was pretty good. We were also given warm bread and some accompaniments which we really enjoyed. However for our mains none of us were impressed. I had the seafood linguine. It was not bad, but also not great - just ok. I also had the tiramisu for dessert and it was lacking coffee flavour. The restaurant and service itself is really nice. The interior is very cosy and it was easy for us to have conversation. There's also lots of parking at the back. I probably wouldn't go back for the food though.

Sitting at the restaurant enjoying my glass of wine as we speak while writing this review. Wow oh wow what an authentic experience. Sebastian you are incredible, come to find out he is the owner and chef! My sister and I are visiting from Cali and decided to try this hidden gem for lunch and we are so glad we did. 10/10!! Best part they also host private events or family functions. We will make sure to visit again !

Went to this randomly, and had the best salmon ever in my life! Starting from the bread that came with a house made oil chilli dip (couldn't get enough of it). Then comes the most tender and fresh salmon ever with sauce (hints of mustard). When the server(probably Sebastian, sorry can't remember the name) knew it was my birthday, he didn't charge me for the crème brûlée. The decor is so cozy and has a farmhouse feel to it. Even though I live in Toronto, I would totally go all the way to Unionville just for this this Salmon

Eck, did not enjoy my meal here despite the okay service. I got one of their three course meals and only the appetizer of grilled portabella mushroom was passable. My main Veal Marsala was dry and served with what looked to be grocery pasta tossed in grocery pasta sauce. Even the tiramisu was a let down as it was more like a soggy pudding. The meal hit all the wrong notes with me. My partner reported his sausage pizza was bland, despite having sausages, olives and basil on it. How does a pizza like that taste bland? We even gave it a second chance the next day by heating up the leftovers. Nope, not any better.

I got this place for take out and got the carbo spaghetti and some fried calamari. The calamari was crispy and it was good! However the spaghetti was kinda bland and not flavourful at all. It was quite pricey too! So overall, a mediocre meal and nothing to impressive.

Don't go here. It's that bad. I love Italian but this was just painful to finish. Located on Main St Unionville. Be ware for those that can't do steps, this restaurant is underground! Food wise oh goodness. Where do I start? Carbonara was one of the worst that we've tried. A typical carbonara is eggy and cheesy. Well this one was garlicky and herby. "Lasagna" was deconstructed and very watery. The tomato sauce was on the sweet side. Unfortunately it kept on falling apart so it felt like we were eating papardelle not lasagna. Heat doesn't exist in this restaurant either. The service was blah. They didn't care and overall atmosphere was old, run-down. Overall, there's better Italian places.

This authentic Italian restaurant nestled quietly on the picturesque Unionville Main Street. The building was a bit old. There is a staircase leading to the main dining hall and patio. Today is Labour Day long weekend and it's quite hot but due to no air conditioning inside, we sat on patio. The patio was full but with only two servers, we waited a bit for everything, but no worries just relax on holidays. We ordered two set meals and were served with bread, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and mild chilli in oil. The appetiser were meatball soup and garden salad, the soup was delicious and the salad was really fresh and tasty. The main dishes was veal parmigiana and spaghetti vongole, they were both nicely done and the spaghetti was cooked al dente and garlicky. The closing of the meal were with mango sorbet and homemade tiramisu. We enjoyed the good ambience but not mosquito bites on patio. There were only 2 servers including Sebastian who is the owner, he apologised on the slow service as he said some customers did not make reservations and just walked in so they were not fully prepared for a full patio. Nonetheless we enjoyed the meal and will make our way back in future.

Outdoor patio is cozy and warm and covered and walled with openings for Covid requirements

Enjoyed a wonderful meal on the covered patio on a chilly evening on the last week of October 2020. Covid restrictions were well followed, tables spaced out nicely with individual open flame patio heaters beside each table providing excellent warmth and ambiance. Printed menus are available, but also QR code online menu and ordering if you choose. Sebastian the host is wonderful and welcomes you like coming home. He can accurately describe each dish and its texture in even more detail than the menu and really knows his craft. Food was fantastic, beef tenderloin tips with mushrooms in a light olive oil and garlic sauce and mixed well with the rich au jus from the tenderloin. Such a flavourful dish. The veal picatta was so tender and authentic like I had in Milan. And the home made bread is fantastic and unique texture that is also very authentic to northern italy and is used for their pizza dough. A must try when you're in Unvionville. Great takeout specials as well.

a plate of pasta and bread

Delicious Italian food and great service. Sebastian, the manager is very friendly and waiting time was not quite long. We had a great time with my family! Highly recommend this place:

    Carbonara

If I could I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. First of all, the two staff here did not wear their mask properly, it was either below the nose or the chin. That is very frightening as they kept on talking over the table and people's heads. Second, when staff was refilling water the water jug touched the mouth of our own personal cup. The table cloths were re used from table to table and the bread containers were leather so I am also not sure how it can be properly sanitized. As for the food, we got the lamb rack and beef tenderloin and both were cooked well done when it was for medium. As for the picture I have attached, I am mind blown that this is the carbonara. It not only didn't match the picture on the menu but it didn't not taste good at all. We had ordered online for this to be split for two for an additional charge and our waiter was confused when we had asked her where the second one was. We had even received a confirmation for our order that it was for two. She said whether we had confirmed with our waiter that it was for two ... but we ordered through our phone and when the waiter had come to confirm all orders it was mentioned. Will never be returning and would not recommend to anyone unless you are ready to wait a long time for your food.

The space is beautiful & I absolutely love the high ceilings with chandeliers. The capacity varies but it can accommodate up to 700 (rounds of 10 & with dance floor). They can split the hall into 2 to fit a smaller party (minimum 140). Food - I can only write about the Chinese food as I read this in the Chinese bride section of the Frugal Bride Forum & also asked a friend who'd gone there once. The Chinese food at MEC was better than other banquet halls & the temperature & portion was decent sized as well. I dealt with Christina, who was very pleasant, accommodating and patient (especially with my future MIL). I really liked her and felt if I had my wedding here she would've taken care of a lot of things. If you plan to check this place out, talk to her! What I also love about this venue is they threw in a lot of 'freebies'. The backdrop (your choice of colour), registration table (your colour), standard 6 hour bar, wedding cake, money box, dessert table was included in the package. This is perfect for busy brides! The only bad thing? I didn't really notice it but my fiancé did not like the carpet. If you plan to keep your wedding neutral I think it will look very elegant here. Love it just too bad they did not have our date.

To me, open bar was very important to me, I have a lot of guests that love a good drink. Overall, the place is very grand, they have a high ceiling. But I do hate their carpet, they really need to do something about that. It's like green/orange color. They look like fall leaves, but in rainbow color. Everything seems to be all packaged, your cake (fake), backdrop with your names on the backboard, table clothes, and chair covers, they even come with center pieces - which is the 3 jars with floating candles. The price is decent, if you pay cash, they usually give you a discount. If you are one of those brides that can't be bothered with little details that this venue is for you. Everything is very simple, you pick the menu, pick your decor/color and you are pretty much set! I'm still unsure how I think about the manager, he seems - nice, but I just can't quite put my finger on him... The food. I had a wedding here just last weekend, and I must say... the food I have to give it a........ 2 out of 5. I really wasn't full after that meal, and the quality is pretty bad. Noise level: if you have another wedding next to your wedding - you will hear EVERYTHING they are doing. Their music, their speeches.... Service: is pretty good, overall the staff is very tentative. Open Bar: Because the bar is outside - it actually takes the attention away from the groom/bride and the party dancing inside the event. Everyone was pretty much hovering the open bar outside AND the dessert table outside. It really makes a pretty empty dance floor. I don't think I would recommend this venue to the future bride/groom. The place is decent with decent priced. But there's a few flaws about this place which is quite important to me!

Located just near Thornhill village this historic home, now looked after by the City of Markham is a hidden gem (if gems were the size of plantation style homes that is). It's a massive estate which has been carefully kept up over the years and adjusted slightly to accommodate events (such as parking out back) within it's sturdy original walls (I've seen them, the walls are made of hardened mud and straw - THAT's how old we're talking) - they LITERALLY DO NOT make them like this anymore. My fixation with it's structural integrity aside, what I really marveled at was the house itself. Large rooms on the main floor filled with natural light, fixtures carefully handcrafted abound and no expense spared on it's creation. I could gab on and on about how great this place looks and I'm sure you might yawn and say, "OK Kris, tell us about some food now, we're bored." To which I would respond by saying "Nay, Nay, wouldn't you rather hear about how the Heintzman House is haunted?" Some might find this fact absurd, others immediately turned off, but I'm sure a vast majority of you are thinking... coooooollll! So was I, so I'll wrap things up here and leave your curiosity piqued, I recommend you take a tour of this house when you have a moment and if you're booking a wedding or corporate function this might just be the place for you!

Every time I say that I'm heading over to or hitting downtown Markham, it still sounds weird to me…read more I will admit that it is growing on me after a few years. Like downtown Mississauga, downtown Markham is fairly new. The notion was to create condos and have locals walk to businesses. Enterprise Boulevard is a pleasure to drive along to head there. Stores, condos, and new developments continue to be built, including York University's new Markham Center Campus in Fall 2023. Currently, York U. has YSpace Markham, which supports folks who are innovators in technology, and food, and beverage sectors. Before the pandemic, I rarely hit the downtown core. I only visited Chatime, ME-VA-ME, and Cineplex VIP. During this pandemic, I have been able to discover cool new places. Copper Branch. Comebuy. Poke Guys. South St. Burger. I love how cool the Marriott hotel looks here. One of these days, I'll need to book some time here and check it out, along with its fabulous restaurant. I am a regular bubble tea customer at Comebuy and Chatime. Who knew? I have been supporting both regularly for the past 1.5 years and have established a nice rapport with staff. There is only one Comebuy in the GTA. If I'm away for a rare couple of weeks, staff are literally concerned. One made sure before Christmas 2020 to let me know what their hours of operation were, so I wouldn't be disappointed not getting any bubble tea! There is plenty of parking. There are lots that are primarily free. I have yet to be asked to pay for parking. In front of Comebuy and Poke Guys, even where street parking isn't exactly available, parking briefly to fetch takeout is okay. I have yet to see any parking police come over and I am rarely parked longer than five minutes. There is an indoor merry-go-round at the northwest corner of Birchmount and Enterprise. I admire it from afar these days. It has been closed since the pandemic, but looked magical and festive around the Christmas holidays. Back in the summer of 2017, I came here for the Markham ribfest. It moved from Warden and highway 7 over here. I had an excellent time, despite getting caught in the rain and getting soaked trying to get to my car from the venue. I do miss seeing events downtown and hope that they return when it's safe. I like it here. It's constantly growing and changing. It's nice to briefly admire the lights in the wintertime and people-watch in the summer. (263)

The lobby had an interesting fountain surrounded by pieces of artwork, and a very large wall decorated with huge paper-like flowers. It would make a nice backdrop for pictures if you were so inclined. We made a reservation for 9:30 a.m. to try their early bird promotion of ordering any size dish (small, medium and large) for the price of $3.50 each (weekdays only). I'm not sure if it was just a quiet week, but there was only one person when we arrived. I was able to snap pictures and pick a table, any table! The dining room took me by surprise. The tables and chairs were draped with cream and gold colored linen, and the stage area was completely adorned floor to ceiling with more of the ginormous paper-like flowers, strands of crystal and upon closer look, the purple and pink fluorescent lights seem to be coming from spotlights. I liked how the ceiling was completely draped in silver colored shimmery fabric. I would describe the stage as being very dramatic and sparkly ...lol Tip #1: It is quite dim inside and my better half had to use a flashlight/magnifier from his phone to take a look at the menu ... guess he doesn't have 20/20 vision as he claims! The service was friendly and efficient, and not as rushed or impersonal as other places we've dined at. The food came quickly but not all at once, and we appreciated the flow as we ordered quite a bit. The presentation of the dishes was quite nice. The dishes we ordered tasted similar and comparable to other establishments. * Chiu Chow Dumplings * Cuttlefish in Curry Sauce * Chicken Feet in Special Sauce * Beef Tripe with Ginger & Green Onion * Rice Roll with Fish & Cilantro * Chicken Pie in Portuguese Sauce * Spring Roll with Shredded Chicken & Taro * Deep Fried Taro Dumpling * Pan Fried Dumpling with Chives * Puff with BBQ Pork A few dishes were truly a miss: * Bovine Tendons - this is one of my favorite dim sum items and I was looking forward to trying it. The tendons were very hard and chewy, and most definitely not simmered enough. My mother-in-law said to take it home and simmer it again ...lol * Sticky Rice with Preserved Meat & Dried Shredded Pork - the rice was al dente and quite bland * Baked Sago with Egg Pudding - one of my favorite desserts and the size of the bowl was quite misleading. I've always been able to share this dessert, but it turned out to be very shallow with just a few spoonfuls! My mother-in-law doesn't eat desserts, and my better half said to enjoy ...lol Overall, our dim sum was good and we enjoy trying new places. There are more items on the menu that are worth trying as well, so you will definitely find some of your tried and true, along with uniquely different dishes. Tip #2: Shout out to Emily L. for letting me know there is a 35-cent charge for each container. We were prepared and brought our own for leftovers! Thank you Emily! Price: Tea $2.00 per person Total: $55.00 + tax + tip Note: I steamed both the tendons and sticky rice for about 45 minutes at home and it made a nice light snack!

I also liked the fact that there were a few dishes that were either new or prepared in a different way like the dumpling in soup, deep fried shrimp balls, and seaweed fish sticks. I originally ordered 3 dumplings in soup but the server recommended for us to change it to 1 order. She told us that one is pretty big and there would be enough for the 5 of us to share. I didn't really believe her so I just changed to 2. I was so wrong....this dumpling was huge! We were so stuffed after sharing the dumplings. I would recommend ordering one as well if you want to try other dishes or order less. The fish sticks looked like Japanese maki rolls but with cooked fish paste....interesting but I probably wouldn't order it again. The food was a bit pricey on the weekends.
