I'd been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'm so glad I did!! The pupusas were so delicious. I had not been able to find pupusas in Oregon that we're comparable to what I used to get in the Bay Area, but these were exactly what I was hoping to find. We tried revueltas, queso con pollo, queso con chorizo, and queso con jalapeños. They were all so delicious! They gave us a ton of the cabbage topping and sauce in our to-go order, so we had plenty. The sauce has a nice little kick to it and the flavor combinations were fantastic. We'll definitely be back! They had other food options as well, but we only got pupusas. read more

Stopped by this little hole in the wall restaurant one night and to our delight found out they served El Salvadorian food! Pupusas, beans and rice. The Pupusas were great. I had the chicarron y queso and pollo y queso. Both were fantastic. My wife had a Pupusa as well as the chili verde chicken enchiladas. Those were amazing. What really stole the show to me were the beans and rice. Although they didn't look super great, they exploded with flavor! Off the charts good. Can't wait to go back. read more

Incredible pupusas. My coworker found this place and we got take out from here during work. I had a bean and cheese Pupusa and a spinach and cheese Pupusa, and they were both delicious. Their red salsa that comes with it is really good though very mild. Their curtido - the fermented cabbage, carrot, jalapeño dish that comes on the side is crisp and just the right amount of kick, was so delicious. Will definitely be getting lunch here and - would also be a great place to get take out to bring home to my family. Highly recommend. read more

I went there for lunch after seeing it had opened a few weeks back. While construction was still going on they had signs that read "pupuseria". I looked it up and a Pupusa is a Salvadoran dish that is basically a South American pizza pocket. It is a hand made tortilla that is stuffed with cheese and your choice of meat for $2.50 each. I ordered one of those, but not knowing how large it might be I ordered a burrito as well for $6.00. The Pupusa ended up being enough though. I clinched the order with a Mexican coke for $1.00. Now the review. Everything here seems homemade which gives it a thumbs up. The Pupusa was good but nothing earth shattering. The burrito was decent but again I've had better. To keep this in perspective though I used to live with the owners of a taco business in Portland, so I'm fairly spoiled. Keeping that in mind, this place is good and shouldn't be avoided by any means. Food is way overpriced! $ 3.50 for a pupusa really should be more like 2.50 at best. Service is poor to make matters even worse. Always noisy with Spanish tv on full blast. If you want a good salavadorian meal it's not here.oh maybe Togo would be better food does taste good. read more

I was very happy to see that La Guanaquita has a new home and is open again. The owner is a fantastic cook and her Salvadoran and Guatemalan specialties are outstanding. The beans are the best I've ever had, and they are reason enough to stop by for a visit on their own. So good. The fried plantains are also just delicious.
