This my favorite Mexican restaurant! Their salsa is perfect and their chips are always crisp and not too thin. Just ate lunch at this restaurant and couldn't have had a worse experience. Got our salsa and guacamole and found hairs in each of them. Tried to let it go and enjoy my food but then our main course came out and everyone I was with found hair in their food. We informed the server and she proceeded to tell us there is nothing she could do because she isn't a manager and handed us the check. I asked to see a manager right then and she told me that there aren't any managers at the restaurant. We were all shocked. Around 10 hairs in total found in 4 plates of food and we were forced to pay the entire bill. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!! So this all started Monday night when I decided to order some la hacienda for me and my wife at around 8:30 through GrubHub I made the order I posted it it was $70 in change hour goes by the drop off order time keeps readjusting and updating so around 9:30 I call the restaurant they had no clue about my order had no idea that I had made in order to GrubHub I gave them my order over the phone figured GrubHub would just pick it up and bring it to me..... I was wrong again so I had to end up canceling order completely and then dealing with my own refund the restaurant had want nothing to do with it told them it was between them and GrubHub the restaurant told me too bad it's between the customer and grab we have nothing to do with it I said you have everything to do with it when I call you personally to make my order and you cease to do that I was going to come in and get my order but know the restaurant I closed and they did not make my order they had an hour I talked to the manager on duty I talked to the general manager that was off that evening they come to my meal and I still had to deal with my refund on my own okay no problem two days goes by I go ahead and call in to redeem my comp meal the general manager has no problem and doing that for me I still had to figure out a way to get to the restaurant as he was making no effort into making sure that I got my meal and my family was sad even though all the trouble I went through I still had to figure out a way to get my food okay no big deal my responsibility anyway I go to get my food a man from the back comes out with the bag I specifically gave the general manager word for word my order wrote it down in a text message and sent it to him the man in the back with the bag comes out looks at the ticket on the side of the bag looks through the bag I asked him then is everything in there yes sir everything's in here are you sure I give him the benefit of the doubt and ask him again yes sir everything is here okay thank you very much I appreciate everything you guys have done you have a good evening I'll walk out get in the car get home start unloading the bag and my main appetizer is not in the bag now I'm upset how's the restaurant going to charge someone 12 bucks for an appetizer get gone through the bag look at the ticket and then have the customer ask are you sure everything is there you're positive and to have this employee look me dead in the eye and say yes everything is there and then get home to find that the one thing that you wanted was not even in the bag and you paid 12 bucks for it now you're still fighting with GrubHub to get your refund back and on top of it almost every item that we ordered was cold and I don't mean just cold cuz everything had cheese on it it was hard cold now we sit here with $70 worth of congealed cold food that is just disgusting I've been eating at the other la hacienda on the west side of Wichita for 10 years no way ever they would never treat a customer like this I give props to the west side if you're going to eat at this restaurant eat at the West side store do not eat in Derby you will be just disgusted them employees should be ashamed of themselves they need retrained and they need new management so anybody out there looking for a job and know what you're doing I'd put an application in because employees that have out there right now can't even count to six to the number six it's a shameful unprideful restaurant they need to be reviewed gross read more

My favorite Mexican in Derby. Good variety and drinks are all on point! I enjoy the grilled fish or shrimp tacos.

Very disappointed. We happen to be in town and someone recommend this place. I should of known as I walked in the help was eating in a booth and at the bar. The sauce clearly out of a can. I had lunch special beef burrito and wife had chimachunga. Meat was chewy and bottom line not good. When I first saw La Hacienda, I was hit with the feeling of a true Mexican restaurant. Walking in, I felt the same. The exterior and interior of the restaurant is a beautiful experience. The staff was extremely friendly, even if a bit too touchy to my liking. The menu was like a rubix's cube with difficulty, everything seemed too wonderful to be real! The chips and salsa were delectable. We also ordered the queso dip, which rocked my taste buds like I was front row at a Led Zeppelin concert. Our food was prepared extremely fast, and it was tremendous in taste. (I had the chori pollo, highly recommend to any foodies out there!!) All in all, La Hacienda has earned themselves a regular customer. This restaurant is in a great location! The atmosphere is nice and authentic. I never feel cramped or crowed because of it's spacious and open layout. It's very clean throughout the restaurant and the restrooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My family and I come here at least 2 or 3 times a month. On a good month we actually come ONCE A WEEK! I have never been disappointed in the service or any of the dishes I have tried. Although I do have my favorite dishes and usually stick with the same one or two; But the food is very good and their complimentary salsa is on point! The heat is just right! I have never tasted a guacamole like theirs, and they make it right at your table!!! FUN!!!! The staff is great, too. I had to get up and get the silverware - we shared menus- finally walk to the bar and ask for frosted mugs - the steak fajitas were more gristle then meat. It was my birthday so they sang happy birthday to me - put the sombrero on my head and then when they were done one of the singers had a handful of whip cream she smashed on my face. It's well-established that I'm not a fan of most Mexican restaurants who deal primarily in the "steak or chicken" realm of tacos, burritos, and chimichangas, but in a suburb of ticky-tacky houses and chain restaurants, the local Mexican places leave a lot to be desired. This is why I was so charmed by my visit to La Hacienda: yes, there is a lot of rice and beans platters, but the entire operation, from the food to the service, is bright and lively, making an effort to present their very best. Here there's still a phonebook of a menu that provides every possible combination of every Tex-Mex entree under the sun, and many of them may contain ground beef, but the beef is seasoned, different items actually have different sauces, and it looks like they took time to make sure each dish looked nice before leaving the kitchen. I'm probably not going to go out of my way to return to La Hacienda, though I would certainly recommend it to those looking for this type of Mexican food. I've been in restaurants like these before on much less successful terms; the food is so simple that if the service and preparation aren't up to par, it breaks the restaurant (see my only one-star review of a restaurant). As long as La Hacienda maintains their high standards, they're Derby's best Mexican restaurant. read more

Went on Sunday afternoon for a good, memorable bite to eat. The food was good but not great, and the service was about the same. When my food was placed in front of me, I realized that I had no silverware or salsa, so I waited for a bit. The serving portions are large, so make sure you are ready for what you order. My wife picked up our lunch from this place for the first time. She went in,'order our food and 30 minutes later we were on our way home. When we open our stuff, multiple items were missing. The cheese sauce was not there so was the side of flour tortilla. My wife steak was tough and the food overall was bland. My wife then went on saying that while she was waiting for her food there, the waiters were doing their makeup on the lobby, on their phone and not as attentive as they should be. This has been our go-to Mexican restaurant for the past 3 years. Typically service is great and food is really good with reasonable prices. I'm hoping management will take notice of this review because the last two times we have been, once in May and again today, service has been absolutely awful and REALLY slow. Both times we stepped inside the door and stood there while wait staff looked at us and said nothing as they walked by until finally someone noticed us and sat us at a table. The food I have had here was good. I always order seafood and my child like any kid has a hard time keeping from putting her hands in her mouth. But after reading the health inspection report and my daughter, boyfriend or I being sick the night or day after eating at the establishment 60-70% out of 10 encounters I can hardly think that is a coincidence. This is my spot. I love almost every meal here. When ever I eat here Brian hooks me up with a free appetizer and margarita. Shout out to Brian and the entire staff of this place, they're the real deal. I travel a lot and often find myself dreaming about this place when I'm far away. Just had lunch here. Tasty food ,good service. Had a chicken taco served with grilled veggies and rice. I've noticed slight variance in service at times, but nothing drastic. The food here is always really good and generally the service is pretty great. We're "frequent flyers". Every once in awhile there's a lag in service but the food is always worth it and the atmosphere is very friendly. The have a great variety menu-wise so that there is something for everybody. The drinks from the bar are pretty tasty and the offer table-side freshly made guacamole and home style salsa.
