While there isn't exactly an Argentine neighborhood in New Jersey, many great restaurants are…read morelocated in the northern part of the state. Argentine cuisine is a blend of influences from the Italian and Spanish immigrants with its chief national product, beef. They say the reason Argentine steak is so good is that its cattle graze on the country's plentiful pampas grass, rather than being grain-fed as American cattle are. The result is leaner, more flavorful, and more nutritious beef. One such establishment is on Moonachie Road in Moonachie, where my partners, our friends and I decided on Saturday dinner. Reservations were easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this cozy, modern interior of Tango Steak as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table right away. We were here 3 years ago when it was El Tango Argentina Grill. The vibe has completely changed. It's now darker and louder, not family-friendly. Music was at a decent volume and does seem to increase as it gets later, giving it a lounge type. As an appetizer, we started with Beef and Chicken Empanadas as well as Calamares (Calamari). For our main meal, we decided on the Extrana (Skirt Steak) with Mashed Potatoes & Chimichurri Sauce and Tango Burger accompanied with Fries. Food was good, not awesome. Our appetizers were tasty and well seasoned. The Skirt Steaks tasted fantastic with the Chimichurri Sauce. The Mashed Potatoes had a nice texture. However, some of us asked that their Tango Burgers be made medium but came out well done. The Fries were salty and very dry. Our service was horrendous, but our server was Nathaly who was accommodating and apologetic. Some of us had gotten their appetizer faster than others. The duration between our appetizers and the main meal was an hour. The food was not cheap given the portions received and the 20% gratuity added automatically to the bill. With insult to injury, their valet attendant charged $5. Definitely not what we expected, which is why we sadly can't recommend this place.

A good recommendation to sip along with a tremendous meal. One note: the medium rare was closer to black and blue, and the medium was closer to medium rare. It may depend on the chef, but if you are between temp levels, take the over. I could have come here for dinner every night and been very happy. Plenty of amazing looking items on the menu.

The bread came out first, nice and warm, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered the empanadas, and the meat was delicious, though they definitely could have used a sauce on the side. I also got the soup, which was very tasty. Unfortunately, my main dish lacked flavor. The portion size was good about six pieces but it just didn't have much seasoning. Oddly enough, the onions were the best part of the plate. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and service, and I'd come back to try the seafood next time.

This place has a parking lot next door but it seems that this lot belongs to an auto repair shop not the restaurant, it has tow-away signs but we parked in the lot because it was after hours. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables, the music is low, the decor is low-key with some Winter motiffs. I told my wife that I was expecting more of an Island/Caribbean decoration. My wife ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (Shrimp Soupy Rice) & got Spaghetti with Dominican Salami, Tostones & Avocado. Hot tea to drink. I expected the Spaghetti to come with Dominican Salami as an option (this is how Dominican Spaghetti is prepared and served) but unfortunately it does not, the Spaghetti is plain & adding the Dominican Salami is extra. My wife's Asopaó was full of shrimps, very tasty she loved it as did i. My Spaghetti with Dominican Salami was pretty good. The Spaghetti were al dente enough (not too soft nor too hard), flavorful, Dominican Salami chunks were hearty (I was hoping that the Salami would be stewed but it was fried instead), the avocado was fresh & unblemished, & the tostones were perfectly golden fried & crispy. Ashley & Stacey were our servers and they were very friendly, full of smiles, on-point & honest. I said honest, because after paying the bill we asked for a pen to add a tip and she explained to us thar the tip (which is an automatic 15%) is already included. Which surprised us, usually tip is included with a party of 6 or more, we are only a couple. My wife and I always tip between 10% & 20% depending on the service of course. But no matter how bad, horrible was the service we tip at least the 10%. We detest restaurants that force us to tip. We believe we have the right to give a certain amount of our hard earned money ourselves, without forcing our hand. Because of this practice of including the automatic 15% tip, no matter the size of the dining party, I give a rating of 3 stars. If it wasn't for this forceful tipping, I would have given this place an easy 5 stars. So beware when dining in at La Cocina de Cristina, while the food is amazing, their tipping policy will force you to shell out 15% of your bill, whether the service was good or not. We will NOT dine in at this place ever again. If anything, I will order via Grubhub (which allows me to tip accordingly) or order take-out.

The chicharron, longaniza, and chicken were fried to perfection and the tostones were good too. The place is beautifully decorated with dominican and it is very clean and well put together. Very nice vibe inside.

They are popular in countries all around the world, and the filling options are just as varied. Enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, served as an appetizer or main dish. Opened just two years ago in a little strip mall consisting of 2 stores off S Main St in Lodi, I came to Empanadas NJ Cafe as a first-timer for lunch. Upon entering this cozy shop with 3 tables for dining, I was greeted by the staff at his family-owned/family-run establishment specializing in Argentinian empanadas. These, put simply, are savory baked hand-held pastries. A large selection menu featured everything from Beef, Chicken, Ham & Cheese to Apple Pie, Hawaiian, and Guava & Cheese. One can't go wrong with any of the options. After speaking with Lucas, the owners' son, he recommended their popular Beef, Chicken, and Cuban Empanadas. They arrived hot. Each empanada was identified with the initials on the left side border. The shells were not greasy. They were packed full with the flavorful fillings with the accompanied Chimichurri sauce and were delicious. The price was comparable to the area. The staff was friendly and helpful; the service was fast. They've gotten so popular that a second location has been announced in Boonton. It was worth every minute, which I can recommend.

Egg, Bacon, & Cheese Empanada: Start off the most important meal of the day with the egg, bacon, and cheese breakfast empanada. If you are a morning person, you'll definitely feel like an early bird that catches the worm! Beef: This original empanada is packed with meat, onions, and bell peppers. There's also a hint of hard-boiled egg , which adds an extra layer of savory flavor. Chicken: If you are a fan of Halal chicken, then this style is a must try! Pulled Pork: I'm not pulling your leg when I say the pulled pork was divine. The protein was roasted in the oven and smothered in house made barbecue sauce. Spinach: If you aren't in a carnivorous mood and are desiring some veggies, then try the spinach empanada. I can virtually guarantee that if Popeye were to explore this vegetarian empanada, he will ditch his can of spinach in a heartbeat.
