The only reason this restaurant has so many good reviews is because for 1, most people don't have another Spanish restaurant to compare the food to and 2, they're used to eating bland food and they think because it's "ethnic cuisine" that it's the best. This Spanish food is subpar. If this restaurant was in NYC they would never get any business. The Roast chicken was flavorless and tastes gamey. No salt, no pepper or no Sazon. I am a native New Yorker born and raised on Puerto Rican food and trust me when I tell you that it's only good enough for Binghamton. The Roast pork is very fatty, but I expect as much. The Oxtails were decent enough to earn 2 stars but that too was greasy. Do yourself a favor though with the Roast pork; buy the food between 1030am and 2pm. If you wait till after 2pm the quality is terrible. I mean really poor. And lastly they are stingy with the red beans. The red beans are the best thing on the menu. I asked the preparer to swirl the bean sauce all over the rice and she caught an attitude. If you want hot ready to go food, this is the spot for you. But if you're expecting NYC Puerto Rican food. Keep expecting because you will not find it here, trust me! read more

Imagine walking into your Bita's casa, the sounds of Salsa and fresh Sofrito permeate your senses! All the traditional Caribbean (Puerto Rican/Dominican) cuisine, perfectly seasoned and prepared in the traditional style! I had the arroz Amarillo with black beans, Alcapurrias and Pernil(pork shoulder.) the Alcapurrias are plantain balls stuffed with meat and then fried! These were sooo good and with a side of rice could be its own meal. The pernil was seasoned perfectly and cooked low and slow to seal in the flavor. The best part is I got a huge chicharrón(pork skin/rind) with the my generous serving of pernil! My husband got a chuleta(fried pork chop) with yellow rice and red beans, morcia(blood sausage) and Malta(malted beverage.) We brought our 9 year old son who was feeling a hamburger and fries! Delicious Pernil and empanadas! Their Papa Rellena is excellent!

They really only get the break they get because they are the only Spanish spot in the area. The food is blah in my opinion. I believe there are 2 different cooks because some days are better then others. The owner or whoever works the front has a nasty attitude. I got empanadas that tasted raw or completely flavorless like someone forgot to add seasoning one day so I called and was very nice. I wasn't feeling well this day and just wanted to eat something without having to cook. I told her I never got anything that seemed undercooked before, but something was wrong with the taste of my empanadas. First she went back and forth about nobody else ever having complaints then said "well what do you want me to do emapanadas are $3 I don't have nothing for $3" as if it shouldn't matter because of the price. read more

We had lunch here yesterday, the food is like home-cooked and reminds me of my MIL's cooking, so good! The Pernil is spot-on as are the pink beans, yum! My husband enjoyed the Mangu, a huge platter filled with a delicious assortment of food, we also finished with the flan, the best in a long time. The owner is very friendly and helpful, I'm going back to try all the daily specials. There is a comfortable, clean area for eating in. Definitely worth trying. read more
