My boyfriend and I were looking for some Persian restaurants that were open late near us, so we decided to try Vanak. It's located inside a small plaza and has both indoor and outdoor dining. The place itself is cute and clean. When we arrived, it was empty. We sat and placed our orders and got our food fairly quickly. The food itself was delicious. The meat was very juicy and tender and the rice and salad were good as well. The only issue we had is the service. The owner was running around being the host and chef it seemed. He forgot things we ordered and then we had to wait forever to get our check. I don't know if the service is always like this but, they definitely need to hire more people to help. We were craving for Persian breakfast. Since we always go to this place, we decided to have a gathering of 8 people for breakfast. They start at 9 am, so we were there at 9. Six people in our group ordered kale pache, three portion,based on the owner's recommendation, three portions were more than enough for six people, and he was right. Two of us ordered Persian omelet, which was amazingly delicious. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They refilled the Persian bread, sangak, and tea nonstop. At the end, the owner gave us complimentary coffee and fruit from his own backyard. This place is good for groups, and they remodeled the store recently. There is an outdoor sitting area and plenty of spots inside of the store. Also if you are big group, just call them and reserve you spot for peace of mind. Just keep in mind that Persian food preparation takes time, so you can order earlier by phone or wait at the store. Definitely recommend this place to give it a try. read more

Still have a hard time believing I paid over $70 (plus tip) for a sheep head stew -Kaleh Pacheh- for two people that should be about half that price. But the high price aside, it was delicious. Be here before 9AM on the weekends as the place quickly got packed and their weakness in servicing the place properly was exposed. There are better places available not far away and I'll probably frequent them more regularly before being back to Vanak. read more

The chef in the kitchen is so chill, and always hooks it up with extra sumac and butter, a few sides that I really appreciate. Food is amazing and super fresh, and I usually grab the beef koobideh plate. The portions are huge. My only wish is they would include hummus in the plate, their hummus is awesome. Ok. First time here. Was in the mood for something wholesome and found this gem. First hubby and I met the owner/cook/father and his son. Such nice fellas. The son was so kind! The owner/cook has years of cooking experience and it shows! The food was amazing. The chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful! The beef just amazing! We had the cucumber yogurt as a side, the son recommended we mix into rice and omg! Delicious! It wasn't too crowded but there was plenty of seating space inside and out. Man where do I begin, my ethnic background is Armenian with hints of Persian and Assyrian so having parents that make this type of food I have high standards on the quality and I don't mind a long drive so I drove from Santa Clarita/Palmdale area to try this place out because of the reviews and from what I saw in the pictures it looked promising. The shish kebab and chicken breast plate was amazing I had tossed save half for my wife and let me tell you I almost couldn't do it the meat was so juicy and not tough the chicken was moist and flavorful I'm not big on chicken but I ate all the big pieces hahah the zabsi was perfectly balanced and the beans were not mushy cooked just right and the meat wasn't chewy the rice which I think is what separates good from great was phenomenal the tadik was my favorite part I suggest dipping it in the zabsi juice hahah man but yes the food is amazing they're very friendly people very welcoming the place looks really nice would definitely dine in if I lived nearby but I'll definitely be back in the future still more to try on the menu.
