Great local Afghan food! Highly recommend checking this place out! We started with the Mantoo and Ashak. Both were delicious, but personally, I preferred the Ashak over the Mantoo. For entrées, we shared the Mixed Koobideh. Between the two, I definitely enjoyed the chicken more. We also tried the Qabuli Pulao with lamb shank, and the lamb was so tender and delicious! The rice could have used a little more flavor and salt, but overall, it was still really good. The highlight of the night was definitely the Sheer Yakh (Afghan ice cream)! So, so good and unlike anything we've had before. Definitely a must-try! I'd absolutely come back! read more

Such a wonderful place! The restaurant is clean and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the Afghan food is absolutely delicious and tastes authentic and homemade. The portion size is big and filling. I literally had to take it to go box and eat it the next day. I give this place 5/5. The place looks simple from the outside but inside looks amazing, great decors and cozy afghan feel. Hospitality 5/ 5. The food was cooked by the order. Kubideh combo was good. 1 skewer was chicken and the other skewer was beef. The bread with the combo was delicious. 5/5. Parking is not an issue, lots of space. Delicious hidden gem! Love exploring new mom and pop restaurants and this one hidden in a small shopping complex behind Carl's Junior is a rare find. Not a large restaurant but the portion sizes definitely make up for the space! There is a floor/carpeted seating area that is more traditional (great for kids) and regular dining tables. For a party of four, we tried the mantu, potato bolani, lamb shank pulao qabali, and the combo beef/chicken koobideh kebab. We likely have enough leftovers for two more meals at least! My mom, who doesn't usually like beef, thought the mantu beef koobideh was super juicy and tender without the gamey taste, and the lamb shank paired perfectly with the sweet raisins and carrots in the pulao. Bolani came out piping hot and was fantastic with the spicy green chutney and cooler yogurt sauce. Mantu reminded me of the ones I had back in Baltimore at Helmand's, didn't think I was able to find that here deep in the valley. Will be back because we forgot to try the ice cream!! read more

I haven't had kabobs like this since I was deployed in Saudi Arabia! The spices and seasonings they put on their dishes are incredible. You get a lot of food for the money. The wait time was not too long, worth it for quality foods. The server was very friendly and made sure I found a suitable dish to go. The tiled walls, glass chandeliers, marbled counters are beautiful works of art. The chicken tikka kabobs were juicy and well seasoned, the flat bread was crisp and tasty and the rice was awesome. Once I noticed customers and employees speaking in possibly Pashto or Dari to each other, I knew this was the place to get the real kabobs. They also sell high quality rugs and are working on opening Kabul Marketplace next door, so stay tuned. I definitely have to try their flatbread Bolani dish next time. read more

Found a hair in my food. We told the waitress (who might also be the owner) about it. Her response? "Oh, sorry." Then she carried on nonchalantly. In general, the waitress had zero sense of urgency in serving us, even though there was only one other table with customers that night. She also seemed to "forget" that we ordered the sheer yakh for dessert and we had to remind her after waiting 25 minutes after our entrees were done. The chicken in our chicken tikka tasted spoiled and slightly sour. The yogurt in our mantu also tasted not fresh. The rest of the food (rice, veggies, and the mantu dumplings aside from the yogurt topping) tasted... safe, I guess. We really wanted to like this new restaurant since it has an authentic Afghan menu, but won't be returning due to the serious riskiness of their food and the bad service. read more

Had high hopes for this place after hearing about it, but this place turned out to be a disappointment. Off the bat this place does not have enough seating. There's 4 tables with some chairs and then an area where you can sit on the floor on carpets which is nice, but not practical for the elderly when there's no other seating available. We waited 30 plus minutes just to get menus, our order was taken after a table that came AFTER us which was annoying. It's clearly family run which is fine, but customer service should have been top notch. There's only one lady who is cleaning the tables, seating guests and bringing out the food and ringing up payment. The food was mediocre. We ordered the potato bulani 8/10, nice flavor, chicken tikka 6/10 juicy and well seasoned, Kubideh combo 2/10, lacked flavor and meat was dry. The mantoo 4/10, flavorless. Hard to find good Afghan food in the valley. I won't be back. read more

Our first time visiting this restaurant. While they are fine tuning their process and operation since they just opened two weeks ago, the visit was still full of deliciousness. The Chapli kabob was packed with flavor, the Tikka Kabob melted in your mouth, the Mantu and Ashak both fought for my attention and they were both winners. The Qabli with the lamb shank was also a W. We finished our delicious feast with the Afghani sheer yakh. Having a restaurant is not easy specially when you are serving us Afghans, we can be very hard critics and experts in all subject matters. Yes I know, no one makes better Afghan food than your moms, wives, and that one hala jaan. But... Loved this place! The chicken kabob was so good--big juicy pieces with great flavor. We also had the Chapli kabob, Aushak, and qabili palao, and everything was super tasty. The bread was fresh and fluffy, straight out of the oven. The banchan a little less variety than what you would get at other places, but it still tasted really healthy and fresh. We were surprised that no other people were there, but we saw a lot of tables that had Plates and napkins on it so it seemed like we were coming at a later part of the lunch hour. I would definitely come back again. I think the skewers were that delicious and the price of the happy hour. It was totally worth it to get the noodles and the skewers together.

Excellent Afghan cuisine and truly some of the best I've had in the area. The koobideh kabobs were perfectly seasoned and grilled juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. No dryness, no excess grease just high-quality meat with great texture. The standout dish, though, was the qabili polo. In spite of this, food here is prepared fresh daily (not the goat samosa), halal and diverse. There is no fish. Service is exceptional.
