Finally got to see what became of the old LAs Best Pizza joint. The place has been totally transformed and the ambiance is certainly an upgrade from the old restaurant. The food was a pleasant surprise. I had the chicken kubideh plate. Probably the best chicken kubideh I have had to date. It was very flavorful without being dry. The flat bread was great and to me seemed top tier for Afghan bread. The rice was flavorful with the fruit accents on top of the rice. The salad was good too but I wish there was more of it. Oh and the toomh garlic sauce was also great. I shall visit again. read more

Kubideh combo was good. 1 skewer was chicken and the other skewer was beef. The bread with the combo was delicious. 5/5. Parking is not an issue, lots of space. Finally got to try this place out unfortunately it was a dine out type of experience! If I could describe this type of cuisine I would say it would be a spicy take on a kabob. Delicious nonetheless, and super filling! My husband picked up some late night eats for us and we were happy we finally got around to trying this place! I think it's a hidden gem for sure! We tried the kabob plate with both beef and chicken and the were both equally tasty! The best thing was that green spicy chutney, it was yogurt based but super spicy and addicting! Delicious hidden gem! Love exploring new mom and pop restaurants and this one hidden in a small shopping complex behind Carl's Junior is a rare find. Not a large restaurant but the portion sizes definitely make up for the space! There is a floor/carpeted seating area that is more traditional (great for kids) and regular dining tables. For a party of four, we tried the mantu, potato bolani, lamb shank pulao qabali, and the combo beef/chicken koobideh kebab. We likely have enough leftovers for two more meals at least! My mom, who doesn't usually like beef, thought the mantu beef koobideh was super juicy and tender without the gamey taste, and the lamb shank paired perfectly with the sweet raisins and carrots in the pulao. Bolani came out piping hot and was fantastic with the spicy green chutney and cooler yogurt sauce. Mantu reminded me of the ones I had back in Baltimore at Helmand's, didn't think I was able to find that here deep in the valley. Will be back because we forgot to try the ice cream!! read more

I haven't had kabobs like this since I was deployed in Saudi Arabia! The spices and seasonings they put on their dishes are incredible. You get a lot of food for the money. The wait time was not too long, worth it for quality foods. The server was very friendly and made sure I found a suitable dish to go. The tiled walls, glass chandeliers, marbled counters are beautiful works of art. The chicken tikka kabobs were juicy and well seasoned, the flat bread was crisp and tasty and the rice was awesome. Once I noticed customers and employees speaking in possibly Pashto or Dari to each other, I knew this was the place to get the real kabobs. They also sell high quality rugs and are working on opening Kabul Marketplace next door, so stay tuned. I definitely have to try their flatbread Bolani dish next time. read more

Found a hair in my food. We told the waitress (who might also be the owner) about it. Her response? "Oh, sorry." Then she carried on nonchalantly. In general, the waitress had zero sense of urgency in serving us, even though there was only one other table with customers that night. She also seemed to "forget" that we ordered the sheer yakh for dessert and we had to remind her after waiting 25 minutes after our entrees were done. The chicken in our chicken tikka tasted spoiled and slightly sour. The yogurt in our mantu also tasted not fresh. The rest of the food (rice, veggies, and the mantu dumplings aside from the yogurt topping) tasted... safe, I guess. We really wanted to like this new restaurant since it has an authentic Afghan menu, but won't be returning due to the serious riskiness of their food and the bad service. read more

Had high hopes for this place after hearing about it, but this place turned out to be a disappointment. Off the bat this place does not have enough seating. There's 4 tables with some chairs and then an area where you can sit on the floor on carpets which is nice, but not practical for the elderly when there's no other seating available. We waited 30 plus minutes just to get menus, our order was taken after a table that came AFTER us which was annoying. It's clearly family run which is fine, but customer service should have been top notch. There's only one lady who is cleaning the tables, seating guests and bringing out the food and ringing up payment. The food was mediocre. We ordered the potato bulani 8/10, nice flavor, chicken tikka 6/10 juicy and well seasoned, Kubideh combo 2/10, lacked flavor and meat was dry. The mantoo 4/10, flavorless. Our first time visiting this restaurant. While they are fine tuning their process and operation since they just opened two weeks ago, the visit was still full of deliciousness. The Chapli kabob was packed with flavor, the Tikka Kabob melted in your mouth, the Mantu and Ashak both fought for my attention and they were both winners. The Qabli with the lamb shank was also a W. FOOD SAFETY WARNING! 1) Both chicken and beef kabobs were RAW/UNDERCOOKED. I'm worried my family and I will get sick. The waiter said, "it's okay, only a few pieces were raw". How can you say that? We waited more than two hours for our food to come out and then the kabobs were mostly raw. That's unacceptable! 2) The rice dish with lamb shank was COLD straight from the kitchen and lacked flavor. 3) The waiter had a BAD ATTITUDE. When we brought up our concerns to them they started making a scene and yelling at us in the restaurant in front of other guests. Very unprofessional. 4) We ordered chicken koobideh but they brought out regular chicken kabobs but charged us for chicken koobideh. 5) They are not equipped to serve large party sizes. They're understaffed but they are accepting so many incoming orders and we've been sitting for more than two hours and still haven't gotten our food.
