The food is consistently delicious, the portions are generous, and the whole experience is always great. I had the Morning Soul, which was so good and packed with flavor. My girlfriend got the Croque Madame, which she absolutely loved, and we split the buttermilk pancakes, the perfect way to finish the meal. A special shoutout to our server Lynnet, who was fantastic. Food is always great, my boyfriend and I have been coming here for a couple years now and it has become our favorite breakfast spot. However, today seemed off. Service was always great, but today the servers seemed upset and like they didn't want to be there. Our server, just greeted us and put our order in. Didn't check up on us and didn't bother to refill waters, there was also no a/c and they were adamant on keeping the doors closed. We waited about 40 minutes for a table. The restaurant is a decent size, with modern mid-century and farmhouse-inspired decor. We ordered the shakshuka, a side of blueberry chick'n bangers, lobster scramble, and the threesome. Unfortunately, it took forever for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, some of the dishes were somewhat cold. Nothing really stood out to me, but the shakshuka was my favorite. It was quite flavorful and had the most memorable taste of everything we ordered. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, they are open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day for breakfast and lunch. We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. The menu offers plenty of tasty options. It was tough to decide. I ordered the Crab Benny and had my eggs soft-poached, as requested, and they were perfectly runny. The croissant was a nice change from the usual English muffin. The herb-seasoned wedge fries were also great and crispy. The Brown Butter Hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful. My family also enjoyed the tomato bagel and the kids' pancake. They cleaned their plate in no time. The portions were good for the price and quality. Our morning hunger was satisfied. If you are inclined to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, the menu offers some great options like brunch cocktails, mimosas, wine, and more. I'll have to try one of their house cocktails sometime. I opted to get a refreshing cold brew this time. Upon entering the dining area, I was struck by its bright, modern look and local vibes. It's not very often that I say this but I'm going to say it now. I may have had one of the top dining experiences of my life. And it came from a breakfast joint, which is super rare in and of itself. Having lived in Southern California for many many years, I thought I had seen and experienced just about everything in the way of good places to eat. As I was driving around looking for some breakfast, I stumbled across oeb breakfast. And I am so glad I did. For starters, when you walk through the door, the place is bright and Cherry and has just the right amount of whimsy. It's neatly laid out and everything is in full view. It only took a moment my server to come get me at the front and direct me to a table. Let's talk about the service. Having been in the food service industry, I know what it takes to have a great dining experience. Caesar, who was my waiter, took care of me in a level that I have not seen in a very long time. Personable, gracious, accommodating, and helpful are just a few of the words I would use to describe my experience being served by him. I asked for coffee and water and within moments it arrived on my table. Side note, the coffee is off the chain! It is a brand called Umbria and it is amazing. After scanning the menu, I opted for the beef bulldogi Benedict with the beef Tallow fries. I asked for the fries extra crispy, and ask for my milk to be served with breakfast. If you've read any of my Yelp reviews on breakfast places, you know that that is one of my litmus tests for the accuracy of the order. If I have to ask for my milk after the meal's been delivered, they're not doing their job. Not that I'm picky, for me. It is just a way to determine how good of a listener the server actually is. It didn't take long at all for the food to be delivered. The presentation was absolutely amazing, as we eat with our eyes. First, I have to say that the way the food was plated was definitely a work of art. Once the food was dropped off half of me was going. I wonder if they will remember... And before I could finish my thought Caesar showed back up with the milk. Home run! The food itself was absolutely wonderful, I cannot remember when I have enjoyed a breakfast as much as this one. All the flavors were there, it was perfectly balanced, and was just a pleasant dining experience overall. Bragging on Caesar again, as I was sitting there, the restaurant started to get very busy, he handled himself with such Grace and poise and didn't let the mounting tension frazzle him. Again, I wish this place was in my hometown so I could come here more often, but you can bet that I will be back here multiple times. Bottom line? Came in on a busy Mother's Day morning. Service was really friendly, but our server forgot to give us more chocolate milk after giving us only 1/4 of a cup worth and charging us half off for it. (Did not take a picture of it) Korean Bulgogi Benedict: 7/10 Some parts of the meat wasn't fully marinated from what I tasted. Some of my bites of the meat were flavorful. A little weird to have 2 pieces of spinach as a garnish. Never seen that before. Potatoes were really good. Can't go wrong with those. Short Rib bowl: 8/10 everything in that bowl were amazing together. Banana Cream Pie French Toast: 4/10 this was a miss for me. Nothing amazing about it. The custard part was off for me. Maybe if it was more of a banana pudding, it would be better with the cream. Didn't really taste like a banana cream pie. Green Machine: 10/10! So good and refreshing Chocolate Milk: needed more chocolate. They gave us a cup with it 1/4 filled because they ran out of milk since it was so busy and never came back with more. I recently visited OEB Breakfast and overall had a really great experience! We ordered a variety to share, so here's the breakdown: GET SHORTY RIB - 5/5 This was easily one of our favorite dishes. The Philly style beef short rib with the brown butter hollandaise was so rich and flavorful, and the cheese curds just brought everything together. Definitely a must order and something we'd come back for. THREESOME! - 5/5 A classic breakfast plate done well. We chose the maple pork bangers with brioche French toast and added fruit. The sausages were solid, but the real standout was the brioche French toast it was SO good with the maple syrup, butter, and fresh fruit. Soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. TRADITIONAL - 4/5 Pretty much what you'd expect from an eggs Benedict, but we did love the rosemary ham. The side salad wasn't really the move for us honestly wish we swapped it for the beef tallow fried herb potatoes instead. SHAKSHUKA - 3/5 This one was a bit disappointing. We've had it before and remember loving it, so not sure if the recipe changed, but it didn't hit the same this time. MARKET SALAD - 4/5 A refreshing addition to balance everything out. Loved the combination of fruit, avocado, and goat cheese, but we all agreed it could've used more crunch the smoked almonds were pretty minimal. It is a modern breakfast but feels like a mom and pop shop and plenty of seats outside as well. Came at 10am Saturday and plenty of seats. FOOD: good breakfast, however, nothing that makes it special, French toast was pretty overpriced, too much whipped cream. Bowls were great and delicious and their potatoes are one of the best. We got sat down, and took a gander at this impressive and extensive menu. I already knew what I wanted, because I always get the same thing, but we had to get something new too, of course! I've never had shakshuka, so that's what we went with! Look at this deep red tomato sauce and those perfect eggs. The dip-ability is absolutely peak, and that bread is perfectly warm and toasty. Sweet and acidic tomatoes, herbaceous oils, and a wonderfully eggy bite tie this dish together and make it delicious! And, of course, my standard, the breakfast bowl: this one being the Gold Digga. I opted for a potato wedge and arugula base, but it comes with hollandaise, poached eggs, cheese curds, and more! It's a breakfast poutine! Can you believe it? Conceptually, I can't lie, it's incredible, and it's executed very VERY well. Well-seasoned fries, peppery arugula, rich hollandaise and curds, and bangin pork! What an insane item to order! French Toast Trifle all day!!!!! That French Toast Trifle is soooo good! It has all the bells and whistles for a French toast, and then some! I loved the fresh berries on top. I'm a big fan of the brioche! It's perfect for French Toast. There was the perfect amount of lemon curd in top. I really like pistachios because they add a slight crunch to the texture. This was a well-balanced breakfast item. The torched pavlovas were a nice touch and added a creamy mousse texture on top. This light be one of my favorite versions of French toast. 10/10 My husband loved the pastrami. He said the pastrami had great flavor and was not dry. Sometimes pastrami can be really dry and flavorless. Not this pastrami sandwich! This one was great and very satisfying. 10/10 Service was wonderful. The staff explained the ingredients on the French toast, since I was wondering. We tried their pistachio cream matcha, strawberry cream matcha, coconut matcha, and cloud matcha. The matcha was not strong and eventually diluted in a light green unappetizing color. The pistachio cream maycha had good pistachio taste. However, the strawberry cream didn't have much taste as mixing. The coconut matcha was also flavorless. Service was great! Arrived around 10:30 on a Sunday morning and were able to be immediately seated outside with our dog. Took a bit for our server to come by, even longer for our waters. Food came out fairly quickly, once ordered, though. The bowl was supposed to be half potatoes (fries), half arugula, but there was only 1 tiny piece of arugula found. The bacon pieces were pretty yummy, but almost too salty. Cheese curds felt more like little melted mozzarella bits, but added a nice gooey texture. The pastrami was really tender, but the croissant (gave more English muffin vibes) looked dark and overcooked. Wow! I think I just found my new favorite spot for breakfast! Walking in for the first time I was really impressed by the overall ambience. It's very bright, very colorful, and almost every staff member welcomed me, but it wasn't overbearing like most places. This actually felt warm and natural. The inside has a clean modern diner look. Big open kitchen, nice size bar seating, orange booths, and a lot of colorful shelving behind the counter with bottles, mugs, and decor. It feels lively but still comfortable. Definitely the kind of place you want to sit and hang out for a while. I took a seat at the bar and looked over their huge menu. Today I went for one of their signature breakfast bowls called the Meat-Less To Say and this might honestly be one of the best and most unique breakfast bowls I've had. The bowl came out loaded. Crispy potatoes and greens on the bottom, fresh tomatoes and avocado, cheese curds, then perfectly poached eggs on top covered in a rich brown butter hollandaise with pepper and seasoning. Once you break the eggs everything mixes together and it becomes creamy, savory, a little tangy and really filling without feeling heavy. I also got a chance to meet the owners. They told me they've been here four years and I had no idea. I just moved back to Newport Beach after being gone five years and I told them they're definitely going to be seeing me a lot more. We ordered crab eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito, and market salad. The salad was great with lots of arugula, blueberries, mango, avocado, toasted almonds. The eggs benny was delicious with lots of crab! Served on croissants with lots of hollandaise sauce and fries. The only thing we didn't like was breakfast burrito. It was just okay, nothing great. The best part of this dish was the blister shishito peppers. We ate all of them! There was a lot of leftover burrito and we brought it home. Service was great! The ambiance is clean and cute as always and the service is always top tier but this time the food was subpar and to be totally honest I'm a little surprised that it's the food that brought the score down! The culprit was the waffle - that waffle was grainy and the almond extract was way too strong in there so that was a huge disappointment. The other dishes were still as good as I remembered, the potatoes were crispy and well seasoned and the blueberry chicken sausages were still amazing. It was disappointing to bring my in laws to this place I guaranteed was delicious but maybe it was just a fluke? This is a treasure find! I mean, who would have thought, the location is way towards the end of a plaza in Costa Mesa with other stores beside it. When you enter the ambiance is normal sunlight atmosphere, well studied out floorpan I would say, like it is spread out to accomodate people without it being too tight... Then as soon as you walk in, waiters and waitresses are all smiles welcoming you to be seated with their black shirts written on them "Fill the Soul" pretty cool because that is what the ambiance felt like for me-- like homey cooked meal with a twist of soulish modernized styled way with good presentation and not just boring cooked meal. Oh their coffee... one of a kind! Very crisp taste, fresh and flavorful. Oh and love the humor way they name their menus... I wont say it on here but my older kids have a hard time saying it loud to the waiters so its for u guys to find out-- what I am talking about...
