Pasta Special: penne with pesto sauce, sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and pine nuts

I always appreciate when outdoor space is accommodated--we had tables outside, even though it was just on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant (there is no established parklet or terrace space). The prices felt a bit high for the food, which was good but not great. Additionally, each of the mains came out at quite staggered times, so some members of our party waited quite a while from the time their plate was dropped, to when the final persons was, before they started to eat. It was a good meal, but nothing spectacular.

    Dinner - Calamari Fritti

Delicious meal at La Lanterna...place is spacious, welcoming with a variety of dishes of appetizers, pastas, meats, salads to choose from that it was hard to decide what to get. Ordered: :: Calamari Fritti - whole calamari lightly dusted, seasoned and fried just right accompanied with cocktail sauce and a horseradish/mustard - 4.5 / 5 :: Tortolloni - housemade with veal, spinach, ricotta in a rich, creamy marsala sauce - lick your dish delicious! - 5/5 :: Squid Ink pasta with clams, shrimp - good dish but preferred my friends tortollloni! Dishes were all nicely prepared with great flavors...ended up with 1/2 my dish packed. Friend wanted dessert but next time will have it to-go as we left quite full! Wonderful dining experience with our server Michael taking care of us with old- school customer service. 5 star for the dishes, service and welcoming atmosphere this visit. I would definitely return again as there are plenty of dishes to try along with a repeat of the housemade tortolloni! Plenty of street parking with 4 tables available for outside dining. Approx $60/person with 2 drinks, tax and tip

The evening special with Chicken Risotto and veal.

My wife and I have not been to a restaurant since before COVID-19 hit the world. We came here last night wanting to get back in touch with normal. We were so very glad we came here. Like almost every restaurant we've heard of in the news they were slightly understaffed because of the extra stimulus money making people not returning to work. Overall it was still a great experience. We live in Fairfeild and come to visit our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson and have been here many times before all this hit. We have never had a bad meal or service and this no exception. Merrick was our Server and truly was tremendous! The food was incredibly good and the service was great! I had the evening special chicken and risotto and my wife had veal. Huge portions for both! We also split a salad with sliced beets . We were both stuffed and brought back some to enjoy today. We will return when we come back for sure!

Well deserved Bib Gourmand status! It was a beautiful day, with sunlight filtering though the tree…read moreleaves as I was sat outside for my dinner. I ordered the house made focaccia and margherita pizza. Yes, I love carbs. The foccacia is delicious. The bread goes through a 72 hour dough maturation so it develops these really complex, mouthwatering, savory flavors even though it's made with simple ingredients: yeast, flour (Primitiva), salt, and brushed olive oil. That's it! The crumb is fine and as light as the puffy clouds in the sky. If you wanted to, you could probably ball up a piece of bread the size of my hand into the size of a ping pong ball, but why would you? Enjoy the bread as it is presented. The edges of the bread are charred a little, adding extra texture and flavor. I'm actually kind of confused how to eat the bread as it's cut into large hunks, but there's no butter or dipping oils, so I ended up gnawing into the bread like a rat. The margherita pizza came out pre cut, but the paper-thin crust in the middle of the pie was somehow still substantial enough to not get soggy that quickly. The huge leaves of basil were very fragrant, and the tomato sauce was bright, balanced, and captured the best essence of tomato. It played well with the cheese. The crust was made of a different dough, chewy, pliable, savory, and spotted beautifully. Service was wonderful. The waiter boxed up my leftover pizza (and even asked if I wanted to box up the slice of pizza crust I couldn't finish-yes of course!). Very thoughtful. It's a shame I was too full to order dessert.

For starters, we shared the meat & cheese board which our waitress recommended the off menu combo plate (2 meats & 2 cheeses for ~$40). Solid and straightforward rather than elaborate. The breads and especially the lard were the more interesting part. For entrees, we shared the diavola pizza: Good flavor with the crust being the standout. Worth mentioning that it's a softer, fork-and-knife style pizza rather than a crispy slice. Paired with the pizza was the Red wine mezzi rigatoni. Probably the most interesting savory dish. The pork sausage ragù and crispy sage made it different from a standard rigatoni. Pasta + Pizza was a great shareable combo. Lastly to round off the meal, desserts. The Chocolate trifle was the disappointment. The amount of foam overwhelmed everything else and made it underwhelming. The bomboloni were much better, particularly with the peaches. Tobias Take: Great option for people who want wine, charcuterie/cheese and several dishes for the table to share. Their meat/cheese selection and wine list are major strengths. This place shines when you order several things for the table rather than everyone ordering an individual entrée.

What we ordered: Prosciutto Di Parma Arugula Pizza (+ burrata) = 100000/10 FOOD: 9/10 Served hot, fresh, and made to order, this pizza truly hit the spot. The crust had those delicious wood-fired charred bits and was the perfect thickness, not too thin, not too thick. The burrata (worth the extra charge!) was rich and creamy, while the arugula added the perfect fresh, crunchy bite. Every ingredient worked so well together. I'm literally salivating as I type this! Paired with some good wine? Chef's kiss! SERVICE: 9/10 Every staff member we interacted with struck the perfect balance of being friendly and laid-back. We sat at the bar, where the bartender also served as our waiter. He was personable, kept up a great conversation, and was attentive without ever making us feel rushed, all while mixing drinks and taking care of other guests. AMBIANCE: 9/10 Spacious, clean, and incredibly inviting. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and all the train station-inspired decor throughout the restaurant. The large windows let in so much natural light that it's an even better place to sit back and enjoy a meal. I'd happily come back the next time I'm in the area.

Nice char on the crust, and not super doughy. For our Margherita Pizza specifically, it was a bit soggy/ floppy making it really hard to grab and eat. Other than that, the flavor was there. Might have been a one time thing, but would recommend getting this well done just in case. Of the 3 we ordered, the Beef Back Rib Pizza was my favorite! Great combination of flavors that complemented each other. Mashed Potatoes: A little too dry for my liking. Would recommend adding some black pepper to it. Mac and Cheese: Definitely hit the spot! It was nice and creamy, would definitely order it again! Jalapeno Cornbread: An interesting combination that just wasn't for me. If I come back, I may try it again to see if it grows on me. It was also on the drier side. Arugula Salad: There was A LOT of Parmesan cheese in the salad. I like parmesan, but this was pretty overwhelming. Lemony Garlic Linguine with Prawns: One of the best sides that we got. Noodles had a good chew to them, with a nice zest from the lemons. Very flavorful!

The food was just ok. We started with bruschetta and fritto misto. It came with little shrimps, calamari, and some miscellaneous vegetables (artichokes, asparagus?, and a single fried squash blossom). I thought it was pretty oily and not that crispy. The pappardelle alla norcina was inoffensive. It had plenty of mushrooms, but I substituted chicken for shrimp at an extra cost and got a total of 6 tiny shrimps. It normally comes with chicken, but the traditional Umbrian dish is pork sausage so they just wanted a fancy name for especially alfredo sauce with artifical truffle oil. The ambience was pretty lively for a Tuesday night, so I could just barely hear everyone talking.
