Decent and edible gyro appetizer platter
    Jack R.

I'm going to be honest as usual. I have friends who support this small business and I hope they continue to do so. Personally, this isn't the restaurant for me. Garlic bread: dry, chewy; cheese is like a weird feta on top thats not melted all the way. Think of like a cheesy garlic bread you'd get with a cheap lunch tray at like a cheap picnic or something. Chicken pesto pizza: OMG, I could NOT with this pizza. Once again think of like a birthday party in a park and someone brings this mediocre pizza there. Just dry white chicken on a bland crust with okay pesto. The gyro appetizer with dolmas: The best thing I tried here, this was the only reason I didn't starve and die. Dolmas tasty not salty, gyro meat same, not salty, good. Fresh tomatoes, okay cheese. Calamari steak: Too salty with horribly undercooked dry rice and like senior citizen veggies from like a care home or something. Baklava: one of the worst Baklavas I've ever had. I had to carve it with a STEAK knife for my friends. I had a small bite, it was oily and gross and NOT flaky. Waste of money. Tasted stale and older than the restaurant. Service was spotty. Menus were as big as a stereo system. Ice water in their big glasses was amazing. Need to work on 1. Food taste 2. Refilling the water, we ordered soda but did not get free refills. 3. We had to get our own utensils and napkins since our waiter kept going outside to smoke a cigarette

Pastitsio plate, which comes with garlic bread and a simple salad

Rainbow Pizza has humungous character as well as huge serving sizes. I do enjoy their pizzas, especially the Greek American and Hawaiian. The pastitsio is great too. Some of their other pastas, like the ravioli, are hit or miss. I haven't tried any other Greek dishes. The family vibe is strong and the servers are always friendly. Ambiance is interesting - very basic furniture and cutlery teamed with funny signs, privacy screens and attempts at resembling a little Greek town. Their menus are comically large, filled with random information and advice. I have a fondness for the restaurant, and lots of other people do too. Recommended for a laid-back outing.

We came with a large group on a Friday to celebrate birthday. The restaurant has a family style diner vibe, and you can see lots of families dining there, which makes the atmosphere feeling lively and welcoming. We ordered a bunch of dishes, some had Mediterranean influences, especially the salads. The food tasted good, and the portions were huge.

    #7 Greek style medium pizza
    Sho R.

I took out a medium #7 Greek pizza from here. I didn't realize how big the pizza was. It was a thick pizza with layers of high quality cheeze, pita cheese, olives and gyro. 2 slice was the utmost I could eat for a meal. Ideally that pizza was 8 meals for me. Olives were really big and delicious.

I think Rainbow Pizza is a family owned restaurant, and to quote Doug Demuro, that comes with some interesting quirks and features. We came with a huge group on Friday, which is one of the big plusses: they are able to handle many huge groups. But at this Greek American fusion restaurant, they do everything big. The menu is the size of a 24" monitor for no good reason, and some of their menu is outdated - we tried to order a pitcher of beer and they said they only do it by the bottles Some of their dishes had mediterranean influence such as the salad, but I'd be hard pressed to say their pizzas are really greek influenced. That's not to say the flavor is bad, and the portions are indeed massive, but the Greek fusion aspect is lost in translation

Looking for fresh, plentiful, and options? Look no further. No really, Rainbow Pizza can satisfy nearly any craving. No really, their menu is about 10 pages including pizza, pasta, Greek, sandwiches... you name it. I've only done takeout a few times, but I enjoyed everything I ever ordered. Their pizza is loaded. I've had their Greek-American pizza which resembles a supreme/combo-like pizza. Though I really enjoyed their pizza and its freshness and the abundant toppings, I might prefer their Greek food just a little more. My favorite item is their gyro platter, which includes beef/lamb gyro meat, crispy fries, a huge fresh Greek salad, pita bread, and huge tzatziki side. It came in a literal foil catering pan! It fed both me and my partner for dinner, and we still had enough leftovers for another meal.

This place has been around for a long time and that says a lot, meaning they do a lot of good things in the kitchen. I got the mini pepperoni pizza, I asked for light cheese and it was perfect. Some of my coworkers got the sandwhich on dutch crunch, + a sandwhich and they were satisfied

Every time I meet with my client, we come here for lunch. Yes it's a pizza restaurant but it's much more than that. It's a family owned Greek restaurant. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Very friendly service with very reasonable pricing. The pizzas are loaded with toppings and cooked to perfection with delicious ingredients.

Stellar experience when we visited for an early dinner with our toddler and baby on our way home on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent, the staff was super friendly (albeit slightly disorganised). They found a nice spot for us to park our stroller and gave us a high chair. Our son loved the giant olives on the Greek style pizza we ordered. The portions are huge and hearty - we had a mini pizza which fed my 2 year old and I and we had half a pizza to take home! We also ate a mountain of salad and some very tasty lemon/egg drop soup. The interior is quirky - lots of unique and colourful wall art. It's a little cramped in the entryway with a lot of delivery boxes and not much space - but once you get inside, it's spacious enough. It's a shame we don't live closer, else I could see a lot more pizza at Rainbow PIzza in our future!

You do not want to miss out on going to Rainbow Pizza in San Mateo! Friendly employees, especially the owner, delicious flavorful food, with generous portions, and a comfortable, Greek decorated restaurant! Perfect for family dining - their dishes are more than enough to share. One of my must-order choices is The Vegetarian Pizza #8. The cheese and olives are the best around, not to mention the crust! Also, don't miss out on their famous Greek Salad - I could make a meal of that alone. I would highly recommend Rainbow Pizza! We will be back very soon!

Omg - what shall we say . Traditional Greek food. Greek language and the staff are great. The menu is vast and very authentic. I lived in Greece for a while and I'll say . WIN. I had the mousakka and the Horiataki Salad. No olives - too much sodium. The family run business is quaint and warm. I took so many pictures. I love eggplant and will be back. I'll bring my dad who is a huge fan of Greek life. Please stop by- you will be happy you did. The pizza is some of the best I ever had. I got the meat lovers pizza -

We've had Tim a couple of times and a man named after the Wind. (That's what he told us his name meant but I dont remember his actual name). They know the menu, they're prompt and well dressed. When we've come on a birthday, we get a cute little cut of something sweet with a candle. Second, the food! Man oh man, the food!! They have an insane in-house charcuterie program with incredible imports and lovely accoutrements you dont usually get like tallow and compotes. The main dishes are innovative and flavorful. Plus they plate them on these lovely, hefty ceramics. The drinks are also very very tasty and are truly specialty both in flavor profiles and preparation. They're balanced and punchy. I LOVE coming here. I love it. You can pay more for a way way worse experience near by. 12/10 recommend.

For starters, we shared the meat & cheese board which our waitress recommended the off menu combo plate (2 meats & 2 cheeses for ~$40). Solid and straightforward rather than elaborate. The breads and especially the lard were the more interesting part. For entrees, we shared the diavola pizza: Good flavor with the crust being the standout. Worth mentioning that it's a softer, fork-and-knife style pizza rather than a crispy slice. Paired with the pizza was the Red wine mezzi rigatoni. Probably the most interesting savory dish. The pork sausage ragù and crispy sage made it different from a standard rigatoni. Pasta + Pizza was a great shareable combo. Lastly to round off the meal, desserts. The Chocolate trifle was the disappointment. The amount of foam overwhelmed everything else and made it underwhelming. The bomboloni were much better, particularly with the peaches. Tobias Take: Great option for people who want wine, charcuterie/cheese and several dishes for the table to share. Their meat/cheese selection and wine list are major strengths. This place shines when you order several things for the table rather than everyone ordering an individual entrée.

What we ordered: Prosciutto Di Parma Arugula Pizza (+ burrata) = 100000/10 FOOD: 9/10 Served hot, fresh, and made to order, this pizza truly hit the spot. The crust had those delicious wood-fired charred bits and was the perfect thickness, not too thin, not too thick. This happened at least four times while we were having dinner. What I'm baffled by is that they have windows that can be closed, but they didn't close them. We shared four pizzas amongst five people, and it was the perfect amount of food. We got the BBQ chicken, Calabrese + honey, funghi, and Margherita pizzas. The BBQ chicken was my personal favourite, while others liked the Calabrese + honey. I thought that one just tasted like a plain pizza with tomato sauce and honey. I really liked the funghi as well as the cheese was rich. The Margherita was normal. A lot of these pizzas had bitter-tasting leaves instead of something less sharp like spinach. Each pizza was around $20-25. Service was fine.
