    #7 Greek style medium pizza
    Sho R.

I took out a medium #7 Greek pizza from here. I didn't realize how big the pizza was. It was a thick pizza with layers of high quality cheeze, pita cheese, olives and gyro. 2 slice was the utmost I could eat for a meal. Ideally that pizza was 8 meals for me. Olives were really big and delicious.

Rainbow Pizza has humungous character as well as huge serving sizes. I do enjoy their pizzas, especially the Greek American and Hawaiian. The pastitsio is great too. Some of their other pastas, like the ravioli, are hit or miss. I haven't tried any other Greek dishes. The family vibe is strong and the servers are always friendly. Ambiance is interesting - very basic furniture and cutlery teamed with funny signs, privacy screens and attempts at resembling a little Greek town. Their menus are comically large, filled with random information and advice. I have a fondness for the restaurant, and lots of other people do too. Recommended for a laid-back outing.

We came with a large group on a Friday to celebrate birthday. The restaurant has a family style diner vibe, and you can see lots of families dining there, which makes the atmosphere feeling lively and welcoming. We ordered a bunch of dishes, some had Mediterranean influences, especially the salads. The food tasted good, and the portions were huge.

I think Rainbow Pizza is a family owned restaurant, and to quote Doug Demuro, that comes with some interesting quirks and features. We came with a huge group on Friday, which is one of the big plusses: they are able to handle many huge groups. But at this Greek American fusion restaurant, they do everything big. The menu is the size of a 24" monitor for no good reason, and some of their menu is outdated - we tried to order a pitcher of beer and they said they only do it by the bottles Some of their dishes had mediterranean influence such as the salad, but I'd be hard pressed to say their pizzas are really greek influenced. That's not to say the flavor is bad, and the portions are indeed massive, but the Greek fusion aspect is lost in translation

Looking for fresh, plentiful, and options? Look no further. No really, Rainbow Pizza can satisfy nearly any craving. No really, their menu is about 10 pages including pizza, pasta, Greek, sandwiches... you name it. I've only done takeout a few times, but I enjoyed everything I ever ordered. Their pizza is loaded. I've had their Greek-American pizza which resembles a supreme/combo-like pizza. Though I really enjoyed their pizza and its freshness and the abundant toppings, I might prefer their Greek food just a little more. My favorite item is their gyro platter, which includes beef/lamb gyro meat, crispy fries, a huge fresh Greek salad, pita bread, and huge tzatziki side. It came in a literal foil catering pan! It fed both me and my partner for dinner, and we still had enough leftovers for another meal.

Every time I meet with my client, we come here for lunch. Yes it's a pizza restaurant but it's much more than that. It's a family owned Greek restaurant. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Very friendly service with very reasonable pricing. The pizzas are loaded with toppings and cooked to perfection with delicious ingredients.

Stellar experience when we visited for an early dinner with our toddler and baby on our way home on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent, the staff was super friendly (albeit slightly disorganised). They found a nice spot for us to park our stroller and gave us a high chair. Our son loved the giant olives on the Greek style pizza we ordered. The portions are huge and hearty - we had a mini pizza which fed my 2 year old and I and we had half a pizza to take home! We also ate a mountain of salad and some very tasty lemon/egg drop soup. The interior is quirky - lots of unique and colourful wall art. It's a little cramped in the entryway with a lot of delivery boxes and not much space - but once you get inside, it's spacious enough. It's a shame we don't live closer, else I could see a lot more pizza at Rainbow PIzza in our future!

You do not want to miss out on going to Rainbow Pizza in San Mateo! Friendly employees, especially the owner, delicious flavorful food, with generous portions, and a comfortable, Greek decorated restaurant! Perfect for family dining - their dishes are more than enough to share. One of my must-order choices is The Vegetarian Pizza #8. The cheese and olives are the best around, not to mention the crust! Also, don't miss out on their famous Greek Salad - I could make a meal of that alone. I would highly recommend Rainbow Pizza! We will be back very soon!

Omg - what shall we say . Traditional Greek food. Greek language and the staff are great. The menu is vast and very authentic. I lived in Greece for a while and I'll say . WIN. I had the mousakka and the Horiataki Salad. No olives - too much sodium. The family run business is quaint and warm. I took so many pictures. I love eggplant and will be back. I'll bring my dad who is a huge fan of Greek life. Please stop by- you will be happy you did. The pizza is some of the best I ever had. I got the meat lovers pizza -

I used to live close by to here in the 90's. I moved away in 2000 and this was the first time I've been back since then. This place is just as I remember. Fresh ingredients, great service and great food.

The place is quite pretty. We opted for a small table outside , which is much quieter. Our waiter was a bit stiff around the collar. I suspect he is an old timer, and clearly, we are not regulars. Regardless, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. The Food: Zucchini Cake, $15 - 4.5 Stars Menu: crispy zucchini cakes with cucumber & mint-yogurt dressing These cakes are ball shaped, deep fried, and made a healthy veggie taste naughty type of good. Very yummy. Lol Tzatziki, $9 - 5 Stars Refreshing and delicious, the tzatziki is an excellent complement to the meal. Octopus, $19 - 5 Stars I really need to stop eating octopus, but when I am in a Greek or Spanish restaurant, I am weak. Grilled octopus legs are soooo good. Their version is grilled just right, not too much char, plus they smartly removed the hardened tips (common) before serving. See photo. Lamb Shank, $34 - 5 Stars Menu: aromatic braised lamb shank with orzo & myzithra cheese The lamb meat is tender and falls off the bone. It is cooked just right. Mykonos Souvlaki, $31 - 5 Stars Menu: herbs marinated tenderloin, shallot & rosemary skewers I enjoy a tasty protein and produce meal, and this dish is perfection with tender pieces of tenderloin over a pile of veggies. It is everything I want.

Do…read moreyourself a favor and try to make a reservation OR get lucky and they'll have a seat for you at the bar. This place can get crowded and loud - brings me back to my college days. However, thank god the food itself is not reminiscent to my college's dining commons. Now if you want to try a little bit of every dip, just ask for the sampler. And if you do get the sampler, the red/orange dip is my favorite. It's nutty with a little bit of a spice. I have no idea which dip it is on the menu and I'm scared to steer my yelp fans wrong (However looking at the menu, it might be the Tirokafteri. Hold the applause guys, I just looked for whichever dip said "spicy"). Next, my recommended dishes are the Dolmathes, the Lamb Riblet, the Fishermen's Pasta, and the Traditional Moussaka. If you really want to do yourself a favor and practice some self-love, you'd get the Fishermen's Pasta. Hands down the best dish I've tried here. The sauce was bursting with so much flavor that I almost developed synesthesia but for food. The Lamb Riblet was also a great standout because it fell off the bone so easily that I almost took the bones home to give to my dog (I don't have a dog). There was only one dish that was a bit disappointing and that was the Short Rib Pasta. Lack of flavor. Tasted like cardboard compared to everything else. Not that I know what cardboard tastes like but that's what I imagine it to be like. I'd avoid that dish unless you're a cat who's teething and needs to bite into some cardboard then you should go for it.

This was a good bread, round and splittable like a pita, served hot from the oven and sprinkled with some seeds (I think sesame, although I didn't pay close attention). 2. Meze Trio: patlican ezme (roasted eggplant, bell peppers), haydari (garlic yogurt dip with mint and dill), girit (ezine cheese with pistachios, oregano, olive oil). Loved the eggplant--tender and tasty! The yogurt dip was good, but I couldn't eat large amounts of it. The cheese was ok, a bit too heavy for us. 3. Ahtapot (grilled octopus on lime mashed potatoes and paprika butter). I didn't eat this, but the kids liked it. The octopus seemed very tender, and the potatoes were good. 4.
