Located right at the base of Foster City's Metro Center is Cafe Savini, where I'm sure a lot of tech and fintech workers go for lunch. I think they cater to neighboring workplaces as well, because their daily specials have a catered food vibe. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and an occupied birdcage inside. The walk to Cafe Savini from the Metro Center's parking lot is very peaceful, and you can even picnic in solace on the random park tables if you want some peace and quiet to yourself. This cafe offers both breakfast and lunch, but also sporadic delicious items like pasta, various protein and starch plates, specials like mujadara (which is healthy, flavorful, delicious, and a textural treat), alongside their regular sandwich and salads. Some plates come with a side salad and bread which taste very fresh; I love their homemade dressing, which tastes like some type of bright and citrus-based subtle vinaigrette. In town for work and went here for lunch. I got the Mujadarra Plate and it was soooo good, there were 7 of us and we all got the same thing and everyone ate every grain of rice and every lentil lol. Apparently it's a family owned business that has been there for quite some time. It was a line out of the door and a few tables inside and a few outdoors. This place is a nice lunch spot near my work place. It was initially hard to find a spot to park but we parked in public/ visitor parking in tower building. The place overlooks a pretty courtyard and had outdoor tables to sit and eat. The sandwich and salad combo I ordered was good- spinach salad and caprese sandwich. The sandwich was good but just dry. 8/17/23 I was off this day and Zach wanted to go out for lunch. We decided to try out Cafe Savini. You can find parking in the plaza across the street where Safeway is. It's definitely a convenient spot for lunch or a snack if you work in the nearby buildings. There's some indoor seating and there's a lot of outdoor seating. You could even get the food to go and eat lunch by the lagoon. You order and pay at the counter and then they will bring the food to your table. We got two items off the lunch special: 1. Meat lasagna (his) 2. Penne pasta (mine) Both dishes came out in 10 minutes and served with complimentary bread and salad. The food was overall healthy, but tasted bland. The pasta itself was cooked fine, but the taste just wasn't great. The salad was okay and I didn't eat the bread because it was too hard. Zach said that the meat lasagna was just alright. Besides ordering at the front and the food being brought to us, there wasn't any other interaction with the staff. The food was mediocre at best. read more

My favorite place in Foster City by far! Its a quick walk from my office and a nice place as most of the seats are outside. The salmon risotto comes with a salad and a piece of whole bread. To be honest, the salad is a bit generic but with the price it comes with, I cannot complain. Now comes the risotto. This risotto is out of this world. For $14, you have a big piece of seasoned salmon that has a perfect salt taste that reminds me of a tropical place. The risotto has a mushroomy taste that reminds me of a forest. Due to the rainstorm, I didn't want to go very far for food and opted for the nearby cafe. The Café was open and pretty much empty (understandable because I'm sure most people were working from home instead of trying to drive into work). I ordered the croissant and a banana nut muffin. The muffin, you can request to be warmed which I opted for. The egg, cheese, and bacon croissant was delicious, and I would order again. Nice friendly restaurant in the Metro Center. Appears to cater to the workers in and around the Metro Center. They are only opened weekdays until 2:00 PM. They have tables inside and outside. We've been there a couple of times for lunch after playing pickleball at Leo Ryan Park. Wide selection of food with daily specials. Every lunch selection we made was delicious. A review long overdue! This used to be my go to for lunch pre-COVID as it is close to work. Went there today after a long time and was so good to see the staff again after a long time. I am sure their business was hurting as offices closed during COVID, but so glad they are still in business and warm and welcoming as ever! An awesome, family owned and operated cafe. Everyone here is so warm and friendly....amazing customer service. The cafe itself is clean and well organized - You can even view the kitchen from the order counter. They have both indoor and plenty of outdoor seating as well. About the food: Not sure it should be categorized as Italian cafe as they also have quite a few Mediterranean options on the menu. The best part is that their menu changes almost everyday. I have quite a few favorites to list...but the two must try items are Mujadara - available only on Thursdays and Fridays and the Moussaka - available only on Wednesdays! Portions are perfect and pricing is reasonable. MUJADARA: a rice and lentil dish with cucumber, tomatoes, and fried onion topping...so yum. Fresh, does not feel too heavy, and flavors are on point. I usually eat it with some hot sauce on the side for a little kick Comes with chicken or vegetarian option. I am a vegetarian so always get the vegetarian option, but my friends love the chicken Mujadara. MOUSSAKA: made with eggplant and cheese. Fresh again and well balanced flavors...Just the right amount of cheesy. Some of the dishes come with a side of salad and a slice of bread. Love these guys and wish them the very best. A great lunch place in Foster City! I never knew they existed till a friend took me here last week. They have all kinds of yummy salads,sandwiches, main dishes and they do breakfast. Plus they do Moroccan food. On Thursdays and Fridays, they have a wonderful dish that starts with an M and I cannot remember the name (I know, how lame..). You can get it with or without chicken. It had lots of veggies and other goodies and if I was not in public, I would have licked my plate! Service is quick and very friendly. I think it is a family run business. Fantastic little cafe for lunch! They have a wonderful menu with healthy options and they're so quick to make the food. The line gets long at noon, but they move really quickly. There is indoor seating and outdoor. You can even call in your order to pick up. All of the staff except the woman that works the register is really friendly and customer oriented. The woman at the front register comes off rude and won't even hand you your receipt. She throws it down on the counter instead. Careful if you pay with credit card. She'll swipe the store copy before you fill out the tip/total. The snow crab sandwich is amazing. Order it if you get the chance. read more

There were several tables eating lunch outside, and several more inside, so I was pretty hopeful that I was in for a good meal. The choices were pretty diverse for such a small hole-in-the-wall cafe and the prices seemed very reasonable. I ordered the tandoori chicken sandwich that came with a side salad and I looked for a free table next to the door. The food came so quickly that i had only just sat down! However, it wasn't the food I expected given the descriptions on the menu. The tandoori chicken sandwich was supposed to come with lettuce, which I love, but it had sliced cucumber, which I really don't care for. The side salad which I thought would be made of lettuce turned out to be potato salad. I was never alerted to these changes nor given options of what was available like in the case of the "side salad." The cheese on the sandwich wasn't even very melty yet because it had been heated so quickly and thrown together. Quick service makes this place an ideal lunch spot when you only have 30 minutes to spare. I usually come on Thursdays when they have the mujadara as the special menu item. It's a mix of lentil and chopped veggies whipped up into a delicious batch (you can add chicken for extra). Try it if you haven't had it before. The salmon salad is also surprisingly good: salmon is cooked tenderly without being under-done. One thing to note: it's not exactly on the cheapest side - likely run you $12-15 for the meal even if you take it to go. read more

The filone bread added a nice crunch with every bite, while the oven roasted chicken was juicy and delicious. The other toppings added to the sandwich as well. The sun-dried tomatoes, pesto sauce, avocado, and provolone cheese all came together harmoniously to create one satisfying panini. UPDATE (5/24/17): I ordered their special, Chicken Shawarma. The dish was a pita bread sandwich filled with chicken shawarma, toasted tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and tahini sauce. It was also served with a side salad of spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes and feta cheese. The chicken shawarma tasted bland. The flavor was there, but it wasn't very strong. I love everything I've had here, which is why I decided to have them cater my intimate wedding in SF. Tuesday this week was pecan encrusted salmon, on Wednesday it was chicken. Parmesan and on Thursday it was Salmon Rissoto. All were delicious and sure beats anything I can make at home. A couple months ago, a colleague introduced me to breakfast at Savini's and now I'm obsessed!! My regular order is a vegetarian scrambled egg wrap with pico salsa and cream cheese. Today I had the wrap with sausage also though and it was also AMAZING and a bit more filling. A fabulous breakfast for $3.75!! I often order coffee also and the coffee here is acceptable (better than in our office!) but not amazing. I had a delicious small cappuccino ($2.25) with soy milk today though! Everyone I've met who works here is SO nice and I sometimes call ahead so my breakfast is ready when I arrive. One day I'd called ahead to order and misplaced my wallet and they did not hesitate to say just to take my food and pay another time. Good, friendly service and great breakfast! :) read more

There are so many things I love about this place. I work in the Metro Center, so it's super easy to walk to Cafe Savini. Their house vinaigrette is amazing! 3.5 stars until I get more sampling done. I had their Cobb salad for my first visit. Nice granite tables and sunny locations (both inside and out) were very pleasant. The whole place has a very light and airy quality to it and seemed very clean. My order produced a little lucky plastic 13 "tent" thingy that then graced my table as I waited. Still a really decent sized crowd for after 1:30 (they close at 2:30) but they served me quickly, with a smile. I could taste the delicious olive oil in the salad dressing--this is the real deal and I was very pleased with my salad which not only looked terrific, but tasted fresh, with real crisp thick-sliced bacon pieces (yum). Their other selections are also worth exploring and no doubt I will be back. read more

Great little cafe and super convenient ... especially when I'm too lazy to walk the extra 100 feet to Safeway. Great selection of panini sandwiches, salads and daily specials. The coffee isn't quite Starbucks (which in itself isn't a bad thing - or a good thing), but I love that they have a frequent visitors card that's like "buy 3 cups of coffee and the next one is on us". Okay ... maybe it's more then 3 ... but it's not the typical, buy 100 so that your card is entirely mangled and then you'll get 1 free small decaf cup of dirty water. Friendly service and on a nice day, outdoor seating is great. FYI though, they aren't open super late. read more
