We came here for a quick breakfast before sightseeing in Rome. It has a lot of tables and the service is great. The waiter speaks great English and was able to go through the entire menu with us. I ordered the Tomato and Mozzarella Panini. Although it is cheap, it is a very mediocre panini. The tomato is quite bland and the mozzarella is not very tasty either. The bread is absolutely fantastic though and did save the sandwich to some extent. Overall, not too many great options for vegetarians. I also ordered a Caffe Chocoliato and it was really good. This spot is one of few places that serves American breakfast and is actually good. We also ordered cornetti (Italian for croissant) with cappuccinos. I like any place that allows me to be immersed in the Italian culture and also has a little something for everyone. It was great to see Italians walk up to the bar and order/digest pastries and cappuccinos while standing and then head off to work. It reminded of the scene in Eat Pray Love where Julia Roberts goes to a bar in Rome and tries to place an order in the same way. I liked placing my order in Italian. Btw, bars are basically cafes in Italy. I sat inside with a window view. Sit outside if you want a view of the colosseum. Experience was 10/10. read more

We went there for breakfast yesterday and loved our food and experience! There were quiet a lot of people but the staff is fast! Our waiter was very fast and attentive to all his customers. We ordered the pancakes and Salmon y formaggio sandwhich which were cooked well. We also got a nutella croissant and a chocolate dessert to take away which we ate at the airport on our return flight home in the afternoon. We even met the NBC reporter Caludio who was doing a segment on Starbucks opening in Milan from this cafe! He was very nice and actually took the time to have conversation with us! This includes traditional pastries like cornets or croissants, espresso, and even some american style options. At night though, their bar is a great place to start the night. In what seems to be popular in this neighborhood, La Licata serves a complementary buffet if you purchase a mixed drink off their menu. Choices include a lot of the classics. On a group visit I chose a spritz and my wife chose a negroni. The spritz was much sweeter than I expected. When the negroni was made they were not shy on the alcohol. The complementary buffet is full of some really good tapas. On our visit, standouts included mini focaccia pizza bites, eggplant, and potatoes. If the free food isn't your style, you can still order off their standard menu at night. The food menu includes a lot of vegan food as choices. Beer and wine bottles can also be purchased to take home with you. Avoid some of the tourist traps nearby and stop in to La Licata for good drinks, good food, and a good value. read more

This is a very good place to get breakfast in Monti. Most of the clients are locals, who get their order and stand, but there are also tables to sit. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed my omelette. You can get it with ham and cheese, or with salmon which was also very good. Plus with toast you get butter jam and nutella. Great local place close to the colosseum. We stopped by after our tour around 1500 and the place was not too busy. Our waiter spoke some English but was extremely friendly! We ordered Spritz and a Mozzarella/prosciutto sandwich which was really good. Along with the cocktail comes a board of chicken, tuna, fried olives, small pizzas and what tastes like pizza rolls (but actual Italian pizza rolls). After reading some good reviews we decided to try La Licata. The restaurant itself is very cute and small but does the trick. The tables are not the most comfortable for eating (it is a bar too) but again, did the trick for a quick breakfast. We both got the American breakfast - it comes with orange juice as well as your choice of espresso, cappuccino or tea. It was very busy when we went but we got served surprisingly quick. Truthfully the food was quite plain but their breakfast menu isn't too big to begin with. We found it slightly overpriced (€12 a plate including drinks) just because of the food itself, other than that the deal works out pretty well. We really enjoyed how they added eggplant and zucchini to the breakfast, I actually found that to be the most delicious part! On the other hand, their espresso and cappuccino were really good and their pastries looked delicious! read more

This place was one block away from our hotel, and it was probably the best find of our entire trip. We spent the last 4 nights of our 18 day trip in Rome, so we were getting pretty home sick by then, and this place had exactly what we needed. My wife ordered the American breakfast special, which was wonderful. I ordered an omelette which was also great. Best of all, both of my daughters enjoyed pancakes that reminded them of home. The coffee and fruit bowl (€5) were good but the Greek yogurt option seemed expensive for being a prepackaged cup. The location is good as it's near the coliseum and the area seemed to have a good night life too.
