The food is here absolutely amazing and the waitresses were super nice as well. At first I was hesitant about coming to Italy because I am allergic to garlic and pasta usually has garlic but they made my pasta without it, saving me an allergic reaction. I ordered the Spaghetti Seafood and it was so delicious. None of the seafood in my dish was overcooked, which is was great because it made the shrimp and crawfish shells easier to remove. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir to go with our meal but it was a little to sweet for us. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu and it was life changing. Mediocre food but very friendly service. We were staying nearby and decided to try this place for dinner. No problem getting a table. Staff were externally welcoming and patient with our 16 month old daughter. How friendly? They sat with us and helped us feed our baby daughter! Food on the other hand was just so so. Friend and I went here on a recommendation from a couple locals. When placing our orders the waitress tried altering both of them persistently and took much clarification to get what we both wanted. I had high hopes with several positive Yelp reviews - I have no idea why this place is rated by others so highly. My food was mediocre at best. I had pasta with shrimp and zucchini. The pasta was cooked ok, but the shrimp was bland and a little over cooked. Did not seem very fresh either. My server was friendly and the place had a little charm, but nothing special overall. Interestingly, I came about 8-9 pm on a Saturday night and was one of three tables - an almost empty place. This is a great little restaurant away from tourist traps of Milan. It's quiet and red ambiance is fairly nice after a bustling day of shopping and walking. I would recommend coming here just because it's away from Duomo. On to the food. We ordered the Crab linguini as starter?!? The portion is very un-Italian, but very American. Tastes excellent with light tartness from the fresh tomato sauce blending into the fresh rock crab meat and crab miso. However, because the portion was quite large for me, I did not want to finish all of the pasta. My second dish was the veal in green pepper corn sauce. The veal was quite nice and the gravy with the green peppers made for a little contrast in texture; crunchy yet tender. My wife had the branzino fish. The fish covered in rock salt and baked to just right tenderness. It was delicately deboned and filleted to another serving plate. I'm not a fish person, but the taste is good enough for me to actually enjoy it. What I really enjoyed was the no rush to get you out the door. We were looking for a restaurant near where we were staying by Piazza della Repubblica and based on the reviews, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We shared 2 pizzas, 2 insalada mistas and and a tiramisu and they were all delicious. They make their pizzas heart shaped! I got a small house red wine and it came in a pottery pitcher that gave me 2 glasses for 3.50 euros. Was very good and a bargain too. We chose this restaurant because it was near to our hotel and had no expectations. The service was super nice and they brought us the meal real quick. The food was fantastic! We had spaghetti with lobster from the special card and it was sooo good. It was a portion for 2 for 28€, so 14€ per person, for only for 14€ they served us delicious homemade spaghetti in a crab tomato sauce with a half lobster. I don't know where else I should get such good food for this price. We also had a red wine which was really good too. The lobster was delicious, plenty of meat for 2, and easy to get at without working hard or making a mess. The shrimp cocktail salad was unique and as wonderful as it sounds. Pro: Spaghetti was decent. Pizza was mediocre. Con: terrible terrible service. There were three servers but apparently two of them don't speak English or tried to avoid our table. They took orders of local people first even though they came after us. We had to two different server 3 times until someone came over and took order. By that time, the table came right after us had already finished their main course. When we ordered water, they gave us big bottle without asking so we had to ask to switch to small bottle. Also basic amenities were not given to us but were to other tables. The place gets packed and servers are very busy already and they kept ignoring us when we tried to call them. It seemed that they were paying whole lot more to the local customers who will keep the business running than a few tourists who don't speak the language and not come back again anyway. read more

We checked into the Westin Palace Milan after flying in from Paris. Spend the day walking around the Piazza Duomo and we're pretty beat. The wife and girls wanted to eat at the hotel. Found La Locanda dell'Amore and convinced my wife to go and I am so glad I did. It was less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Started with cream of asparagus for her and cream of mushroom soup for me. Both excellent. My wife had Tagliatelle Porcini and it was excellent also. I had risotto frutti di Mare. Loaded with fresh muscles, clams, langostino, crab. It was wonderful. Shared a nice bottle of Chardonnay. Bottled water. No desert. I said we we were tired! Good service, nice atmosphere.
