Not a big deal, they let you know there is a time limit, but maybe they should keep the service flowing so that doesn't happen. The interior decorator here did a great job with the time warp back to the mid 20th century. Cool vibe. Food was ok. Perhaps using old recipes from the time period is not so good for a tourist? I wasn't really impressed with the food, but I don't have a cultural link to Milanese food to begin with, so I don't think I was fully able to appreciate it. If my grandmother made this when i was a kid, perhaps it would have been better, but the meal was lost on me. There are plenty of spots to grab a good meal, I'd only recommend this place if you have a fond memory of the menu items or you really want to time travel and post to social media.

I was originally going to go to Risoelatte based off Yelp reviews but they were fully booked for the day and I had to catch a plane in an hour so I walked down the street to Locatelli Milano and I'm so glad I did! Everyone was Italian and dressed impeccably in perfect fitting suits and each person had a glass of wine with their lunch on the table. There were no other tourists there (except for me). I ordered two first courses (which the waiter double checked and said, "Sorry, excuse me. So you want TWO first courses?" I said "YES!") and got a crispy saffron risotto and spaghetti with uni and black garlic. JUST AMAZING! I will never be able to eat risotto in NYC (where I'm from) ever again.

We stumbled across this restaurant in search of vegetarian food in an area where we realized options were limited and were very warmly welcomed in. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful as it had a lovely lavender theme and was classy and spacious. The owners were very accommodating and gladly suggested some vegetarian options for our family of five. The bread and chilli oil starter was fresh and tasty and was an incredible preview of the dishes that were to come. We started off with vegetarian pizza which was incredible...having had pizza so often during our trip we were blown away by how delicious this vegetarian pizza was. And just when we thought nothing could top the pizza out came another incredible dish - a mushroom and zucchini risotto. Each dish was a marvel and yet again the owner/chef presented us with another outstanding dish - pear and cheese ravioli with poppy seeds. Each dish danced on our taste buds sending waves of euphoric delight. We ended the meal with tiramisu and coffee - which we agreed was the best we ever had. The authenticity and sincerity of the owners/chefs shines through their food. They really put their heart into each dish. The owner was kind and stopped by to create some banter. Thankfully, a'Mare did not disappoint. I love a good seafood pasta and they delivered!! They had this special - seafood carbonara - which was truly chef's kiss. The seafood was all cubed up into small pieces and the sauce was exquisite. We also ordered a pasta with mussels and that didn't disappoint either. The round of Aperol spritzes was also amazing but they offer a lot of wine as well (which probably would've paired equally well with the pasta, but my heart was set on Aperol spritzes for my Italy vacation). Service was good - bathrooms were clean but tiny and could be better in my opinion. You also have to pay upstairs at the register rather than at your table. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're close by and visiting the Duomo. It's approximately a 5 min walk away and worth it!

Grigliata mista (26€ = $28.50 USD) - I enjoyed the variety of freshly grilled fish this dish had to offer which included salmon, shrimp, and white fish. Fritto calamari gambino verde (22€ = $24 USD) - This consisted of lightly fried calamari, shrimp, and julienned squash and zucchini. They came quickly along with a lovely bread. The Chianti was a lovely house wine and paired well with the ravioli. While the ravioli portion wasn't large, they were wonderful! There was no rush to get us out even though we did not order dessert. We have no idea when we might be back to Milan. It was topped with some sort of bread crumb. You tasted the bread crumb more than the seafood. I'd skip that appetizer. If I had to recommend the top 3 dishes, it would be the scampi, ragu and the seafood pasta. The milanese veal cutlet was also nicely done. I had one other dish which was some sort of fish in a tomato sauce with olives and potatoes. There's just something so special about european potatoes. They taste very potato-y a nd not bland. Definitely try one of their stewed potato dishes. The prices are super reasonable, the service is attentive and you'll be surrounded by local italians enjoying life and food. I ordered the Spaghetti Seafood and it was so delicious. None of the seafood in my dish was overcooked, which is was great because it made the shrimp and crawfish shells easier to remove. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir to go with our meal but it was a little to sweet for us. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu and it was life changing. I don't ever think I can Tiramisu again when I leave Italy. Great service and delicious food! I would definitely recommend this place!
