Took them 45 minutes to get our food out on a slow day. The asked us to show the receipt to prove that we bought it. People sat after us getting their food extremely fast. After they finally got our food out, they still got our orders wrong. The manager came up to us and laughed in our face trying to make a joke but poorly timed. Not sure if it was because we are Asian as one other worker seemed annoyed at us asking where our food was. Save your money, I had better service as Waffle House. Change your management ASAP. This place deserves a better rating! I engaged myself a casual Saturday brunch here with family and I had a great time. The place is rather spacious so no worries about seating. You order your food separately near the counter - some of them may be brought to your table but some of them you will take right from there. We tried the shrimp Florentine, potato galette, Parisian eggs Benedict, coconut cake, and creme brûlée. Everything was pretty delicious. - Shrimp Florentine: the sauce was really yummy! Crepe was a little thin for me, and shrimp was relatively small. - Potato Galette: this was an average to my opinion - nothing bad but just didn't leave a mark in my head - Parisien Eggs Benedict: I love getting eggs benedict for brunch! I also really like croissant so I liked the way how they were using croissant instead of English muffin! It came with ham. - Coconut cake: it looked okay but actually tasted better than I thought! Surprisingly! - Creme brûlée: I am also a creme brûlée addict so I get it wherever I go. I didn't have high expectations for their creme brûlée here because I judged based on its look initially haha but it turned out to be so delicious Glad that it's close to me! Overall, I've been very pleased with La Madeleine. I've had several of their pasta dishes, a few side salads, and other members of my party have had some of their sandwiches and soups. The food is good, especially for the price. The counter service is perfect for quiet, weekday getaways or date nights. The only thing I have to complain about is that they add salt to their mini-baguettes. Edited to add: one of the things I love lost about this place is its (usually) quiet atmosphere. read more

I love coming to La Madeleine in Duluth and love the service there, so I thought I would give this location a try since it is closer to my house. I thought this location would give me a similar experience, but I was wrong. I order take out and waited for 20 mins and decided to ask one of the cashier to see how much longer it would take so that I know when to come back to pick up the food. When I asked the worker, she gave me an attitude as she answered and then turned around rolling her eyes as she whispered something to her co-worker. Good food, but need more trained staff. When your in that line it's hard to decide because you feel rush and those people work so hard if they had full service I want to tip them better. Again food is soooo good!!!! I honestly can't remember ever coming here. I mean I know its been around but I never ventured to try until today. Its a small cozy place. It's like a cafeteria where you can pick what is on display or just go to the cashier and order from the menu. I thought it would be a full out restaurant but its not. After you order they will give you a number and you seat yourself. Drinks and utensils are next to the bathroom. Its basically self serve, but they do bring out the food for you. We had the french breakfast, french style toast, and eggs Benedict. Everything tasted great. It was the first place where my kids ate everything! Fresh fruits, crispy hash browns, and not so salty bacon was key. It was a great breakfast in a long time! We also has a single of the Caramell Macchiato. It was really good. Sweet and creamy. As a self-initiated member of the 'Clean Plate Club' while dining al fresco at La Madeleine's, I noted that the traffic was in sight but a nice distance buffered by trees. I didn't feel cramped. I treated myself to a little a fruit tartlet - the perfect ending to a nice breakfast to enjoy with their endless coffee and mellow jazz coming from the speakers on the patio. I ate the $5.99 everyday 7-11 a.m. breakfast special. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Since I'm on a 'staycation' (we all can't go to the beach!), the quality, prices and atmosphere were important to me. Thanks to Manager Melvin Summerall for maintaining such a great atmosphere, helpful staff, and keeping prices within my reach. read more

Why 5 stars? Let me tell you a story of a wonderful employee named Luna. See my wife wanted food from here so off we went. She got a chicken la Madeline and one for my son. I got a half French dip and Caesar salad. We also ordered some cookies So we were waiting and she came to the car and told us they were out of some of the cookies and offered substitutes. We got our food and the Caesar was missing so we called and she promptly brought one out with a smile Her attitude of fixing problems with a smile and making sure we were happy will make us come back. SAY MY NAME!, SAY MY NAME! After a great experience with this restaurant a couple of days ago, I decided to drag my husband over to check it out. That potato galette has been calling my name ever since I first laid eyes on it Tuesday morning. I just had to come back for round two. This morning I had the opportunity to actually dine in with my husband. We both decided to have breakfast in and we both chose the same order. Our breakfast came with that phenomenal potato galette, bacon, scrambled eggs, sliced tomatoes and a croissant. As you go through the ordering line, you will pick up a tray, pay, place your order, grab the marker for your table and proceed to another area off to your left. Here, you will grab your flatware, jam and any beverages you desire. You will then proceed to the table of your choice and place your marker on the table. When your breakfast is ready, it will be delivered to you. Before we were even seated, our breakfast was delivered. The person who prepared our scrambled eggs just needs to take a bow and collect his bonus check because these were the best eggs EVER! Absolute perfection. The bacon had a bit too much salt but was well prepared and very flavorful. (A little warm water rinse will remove some of that salt). Of course the galette was flawless but I do wish they had taken the time to gently warm my croissant. Still, this meal was worth at least 4.8 stars because it was just so good and I loved the slice tomatoes on the side to "rest the palate". Perfect! Service was polite and attentive, (at all levels), with a side of French. The decor and ambiance was perfect as we decided to have our breakfast at one of the round tables in front of the fireplace. This is a nice little restaurant that is perfect for that Black Friday or holiday breakfast with the entire family. They have plenty of seating for large groups and they have a huge private room for the ultimate dining experience. Remember, angry people write angry reviews and so carefully read and consider the context or merit before you decide to disregard a particular restaurant. As a new restaurant, La Madeleine had some issues but I do believe that they have since resolved those issues and are really working hard to please their customers. Alright place. Not a fancy restaurant you'd go to for a big occasion. The food portions were small I feel like. I ordered a pizza and they brought it out completely cold, as if it was sitting out all day. They brought out a few small pieces of fruits that were beginning to go bad. My wife drags me in here occasionally just a kicking and a screaming. It's French food. Mostly what I see I'd call breakfast. It sucks. Put a little cheese in an egg or two prop it up with a croissant and suddenly it's worth nine dollars because it's cute. I gotcha cute right there. Pair that up with a nice Chablis miss? They drink more wine than what's good for them and seemingly expect me to pay for it. The place has got that early chateau atmosphere with a Boudreaux feel. Next they'll start hosting weekend art n craft workshops where they sit around making potholders drinking wine and eating little bat crap cheese blitzes. I do not like the food or the corresponding high menu prices. My wife on the other hand would rather sit here than drink pina coladas at the swim up bar in Panama City beach. read more

Update Review 07/18/17: 3 Stars-- Decided to go down 2 stars due to being charged twice for my meal on 07/17/17. Went to the restaurant to get reimbursed only to be told to come back the next day with a bank statement. I also showed the manager on duty my bank statement from my bank app, but she said it wasn't valid. I will print out what it says in my transactions history and hope to be refunded. Inside their cafe, they have a fast casual atmosphere. You order and pay in line then find a seat. Once you're finished, you leave your dishes at the table and they will come by to clean up. My favorite combo is their croq with tomato basil soup! Also the chicken salad with tomato basil pasta. I love their torte sasher! This decadent chocolate cake is a great way to end your meal. went there for brunch today and the food was excellent as always. while we enjoying our food one the staff took there break to eat a quick bit that she deserved. the restaurant was not very busy to say the least. This person was not bothering anyone at all. All of a sudden the manager comes up to her table an starts to berate her loudly not caring if the people eating heard him The woman never said a thing but got up and left quickly, the same manager went to another employee and did the same exact thing again. I have been in management for many years an he was very unprofessional in the way he handled this matter. Next he is all over the restaurant slamming chairs against tables. Disappointed in their salad! Normally I order their tomato soup which I love and they're known for but this time I decided to add a petite Caesar salad. The lettuce had the typical pre cut pre packaged kind! Yuk... If you claim your ingredients are fresh then you should have fresh cut up lettuce. After being a loyal customer to the Gwinnett Place location of La Madeline, I decided to branch out and take a trip to this new location in hopes of really enjoying it, being that it had only been open for a few weeks. Unfortunately, from the moment I stepped through the door, my experience was NOT what I expected, only going down hill from there. The host greeted us but in a rude manner, telling us "the line was back there and to get in line". Her attitude was rude by the way she was so concerned as to getting everyone in the "line" she was trying to form. The line was long, which I was confused anyways because there weren't many people on the actual food line, ordering. With that being said, we finally got up to the food line where you order. As we were ordering, the girl we first spoke to and really everyone on the line was really nice overall. The problem was that it was SUPER unorganized. As I remember going into Gwinnett Place and ordering, you tell them at the front of the food line what you want and they will make you each part as you go down the line. In this La Madeline, the employees all seemed like they had no idea what was going on or who was next. I couldn't tell the girl my order, instead you have to order everything a la carte, which no one would know if it was their first time in there. To be honest, she just could have mentioned that everything was a la carte and that you have to order it individually as you go down the line. The general scenery at this location isn't very "cafe" like either considering it's supposed to be a French cafe. The set up inside is just very unorganized if you ask me and after receiving my food being that this location has everything pre-made, was already cold when I got it. Sadly to say, I WILL be going back to the Gwinnett place location and will never be back to this location. I was very disappointed considering I am also a college student who drove ALL the way back from Atlanta just to spend the day and go out to the new location. Very very disappointed. You're better off making a trip to the Gwinnett Place location, avoiding this altogether. read more

Wow! For a cooperate Americanized French bistro restaurant, we were blown away with the absolutely best service we have experienced in a while. Tia and her staff are fantastic. Smiles and great service abound. We walked in and Tia let us know the deal. Order here, order that there. Take this here etc.. We both love French onion soup. We want the cheese bubbly so Tia takes out a dang blow torch and proceeds to brown our cheese in what turned out to be a light, yet hearty tasty bowl of soup. Our French dip was good. Not too much to brag about but the horseradish spiced it up a tad (although I would have preferred raw horseradish) and the coconut cream pie was moist and fantastic. The baker smiled at us and eventually came out from her baking table to hand us a couple of free dessert coupons for our next visit. The busser in the dinning room checked on us a few times with a huge smile on her face. The complimentary bread and butter was clutch. Who doesn't love that? We walked out full and happy and the staff really helped us get in the Christmas spirit. We sure did need it as we were going across the street to shop at the mall. What a day. As a side note tip.
