Finding FIRST WATCH on yelp turned out to be a very good experience. As I drove up, I saw the crowd standing outside and I concluded that this was the place to eat. The parking lot was packed although we did find a parking spot. Walking in, I saw people dressed in casual attire, some dressed up, and some in athletic apparel. The ambiance was exciting and fresh as there were all sorts of things going on at once. Me and my +1 stepped inside and one gentleman was awaiting to give his name. We were second and a gentleman came in behind us. I had a prime example of the phrase, the first shall be last and the last shall be first. I did not say anything about what had just occurred and then the hostess asked how many people and gave us a choice to sit at the front table immediately or we can wait 30 minutes. We sat at a long table that reminded me of the LAST SUPPER! Our waitress (Kimberly) came over and she was like a shaken bottle of Champagne. She was bubbly and full of energy. She made the visit that much more enjoyable. I ordered the shrimp and grits which consisted of sauteed Cajun shrimp without the tip on the end like most restaurants serve, andouille sausage, cooked low country still with chicken broth, roasted tomatoes and onions, diced green bell peppers and scallions atop of cheddar-parmesan cheese grits served with artisan ciabatta toast. It wasn't hitting like it used to be today. Got a multigrain pancake with pure maple syrup and a side egg and it wasn't wow but the egg felt off. Also the silverware seemed not as clean as I had hoped. I know how dishwashing can be at a restaurant, but it just didn't look clean nor the plate the pancake was on, had a stain it seemed. Six years later after my initial review and the chaos continues. Parking is a disaster. Sparse parking spaces make for illegal parking which in turn causes a fire safety hazard. If you can find a parking space, then there's the long wait in an area that's not large enough to accommodate the wait list. Patrons and servers vie for the limited space, which can easily intrude on the personal space of those who are dining. Service is a crap shoot, depending on the generational category your server falls into. Ours had definitely "checked out". No creamer on table. Asked for creamer. Forgot us while coffee cooled off for 20 minutes before the creamer finally arrived. Asked for buttered toast. Came out unbuttered and no jam. More waiting. No pico on the Bacado (Kitchen failed there as well). More waiting. Annnnnnd.......no apologies, because of course that just isn't done. It would be seen as humble and gracious and we can't show that kind of "weakness" anymore. Snellville and Tucker franchises are SO much better. Buford's location is terrible from logistics to service. The front and back end of the house lost their way a long time ago and apparently haven't recovered after all this time. read more

We have been coming with our family to this first watch for over the past years and it has been a delight in prior years to enjoy with our kids. It hurts us to be the ones to rate 1 star for our experience but the customer service from Ryan, the managaer was extremely alarming! We were driving from Florida and kids had not eaten so my husband decided to place an order online for pickup at 10:45 am. He called once to verify payment was processed and a second time to request a second time to add an apple juice. When we arrived the food order wasn't ready and we were asked to sit and wait. After 10 minutes we asked and they went to go look for the order. The manager comes to tell me that the order was never processed even though the iPad in his hand showed as "paid." He told me it wasn't his fault the order didn't process and I needed to check my email for notifications. I explained my follow up calls and confirmation of payment. He continued to argue with me that it was our fault and that I should have checked my emails and I should have verified for payment. After about 5 minutes he continued to take an arrogant stance and we were surprised that the manager was not sympathetic to a family with 4 kids hungry and all he could say is "it's your fault not mine." It got us upset to receive this customer service. I understand mistakes happens but all he had to do was apologize for the inconvenience let me help you make it right. The arrogance from this man was so disgusting to me. This is not the type of customer service we have received in the past from this restaurant or in any great restaurant business. Loveeee First Watch! This is my first time dining at this location. There was a wait time and the parking lot is small. We sat near the back, close to the kitchen and it was fairly quiet. There's usually no wait on weekdays, but on weekends you want to make sure you check-in online to get ahead of line. With food, whatever I get is amazing! I never had an issue with any menu items. If you have no idea what to get, you should start with the million dollar bacon. It's sweet and spicy, which is the perfect combination. I also recommend the floridian french toast and lemon ricotta pancakes. I also get their juices (they are slightly pricey and no free refills), but it tastes very healthy and refreshing. Visit this location while on vacation. We had the lump crab avocado with eggs toast. It was amazing. We also ordered the tacos el pastor hash. It was missing the crispy pork so we returned it. We had the tropical sunrise and the morning meditation(they need to make this one a mimosa). I would have given them 5 stars but it took almost an hour to get the food once you order and they messed up on the taco el pastor hash. Our server Jerry was awesome. Location is right off of Hwy 20 in Buford in between Toyota and Discount Tire. We put in our name for advanced waiting, which you can do on Yelp or their website. We were a party of 7 with 2 kids and were seated pretty much immediately. Service was good and food was even better. They have a very large menu so it does take some time to decide. The feel of the place is farmhouse rustic with a modern feel and very open. They do close by 2:30pm but they stayed busy. I ordered the Two for You with the half Ham and Gueryer with the Chicken Avocado Chop. The salad was very good with some spice and the sandwich was amazing. The food was just as good as we expected it to be but the service was absolutely spectacular. When we ordered drinks our server Sara informed us they didn't serve Mr Pibb. My eagle eyed father noticed that the drink fountain did contain a Mr Pibb spout, and Sara said they hadn't had it refilled in a while. We were fine with that and ordered everything normally. The manager Jim came over and personally apologized for not carrying Mr Pibb. Sara and Jim also gave us a free order of donut holes as an apology. We've been here several times. It's better than some, but not as great as one would think. How difficult is it to make breakfast awesome? Apparently, very difficult. Let's start with seating challenge. It's 72 outside, and about 65 inside. We asked to be seated outside at the empty tables. They said we don't seat people outside, it's only for waiting. We froze in our seats. Waitress told us kitchen was short staffed, which explained so many empty tables even inside. Food is always good, and so is coffee. My reason for 3 star review is all about the service. It was not as good as it normally is, and normal is average. Food arrived rather late, and arrived somewhat cold, (go figure). This is a chain restaurant and this location does NOT live up the the standard at the others. This location cannot handle the demand for a breakfast/lunch place in this area. The servers are nice and the decor is cute and the idea of behind the food is great but they don't deliver. This location is busy and the wait is about reasonable and you can check in online ahead of arrival and the let the hosts know your there to save some time. Once you get to the table it goes downhill with the exception of the servers being friendly and keep checking in on you. Now it took a little bit to order drinks but it was okay. The food though took about 45 mins to arrive and when it did it was a mix of hot and cold. The eggs hot, the waffle and sausage cold. The waitress took the plates bright back the sausage and eggs which were now cold from being walked back to the kitchen and back on another plate but we were starving at this point and we were still waiting for one the other orders to arrive. Finally my husband got his eggs, sausage and pancakes, I got a hot waffle and my momma was still waiting for a hot waffle. Now the waffle hot was the best thing we ate here. My husband had a pancake and it so overcooked that it was splitting in half. Never since such a dry pancake before and he was so hungry since at this point since arrival we had been here close to 2 hours. All he wanted was his first meal of the day and so he ate it. Now yes we could have complained to a manager but we saw him hiding in the corner, walking into the kitchen looking lost and starting at the queue screen trying to figure it out. He even bussed a table of 6 full of dishes and only took a coffee carafe and a cup and left the rest and then again went and stood in a corner. After observing him we knew let's just pay our bill and go for we saw him do nothing and yet we saw a restaurant in need of help and lots of other food besides ours being called for remakes (we sat right in front of the kitchen).
