Wow! For a cooperate Americanized French bistro restaurant, we were blown away with the absolutely best service we have experienced in a while. Tia and her staff are fantastic. Smiles and great service abound. We walked in and Tia let us know the deal. Order here, order that there. Take this here etc.. We both love French onion soup. We want the cheese bubbly so Tia takes out a dang blow torch and proceeds to brown our cheese in what turned out to be a light, yet hearty tasty bowl of soup. Our French dip was good. Not too much to brag about but the horseradish spiced it up a tad (although I would have preferred raw horseradish) and the coconut cream pie was moist and fantastic. The baker smiled at us and eventually came out from her baking table to hand us a couple of free dessert coupons for our next visit. The busser in the dinning room checked on us a few times with a huge smile on her face. The complimentary bread and butter was clutch. Who doesn't love that? We walked out full and happy and the staff really helped us get in the Christmas spirit. We sure did need it as we were going across the street to shop at the mall. What a day. As a side note tip. I love the Pleasant hill location so I was super excited to try this one out!! Sadly, it was not a fun experience. I'm not one to criticize a new restaurant that recently opened up without having gone more than once, but this experience alone was enough to write it off my list. Walk in and you either go to the take out line or the dine in line. It was a Saturday dinner and the line awkwardly wrapped around a shelf. I've never heard so many "excuse me" "sorry" in one line. The dine in line is where you order salad, quiches and soups? But you can't order soup at the salad section so you'd have to jump to the end to the register or be stuck behind people ordering a salad? I unfortunately made the mistake of ordering the select 3 salad plate and wanted soup as my 3rd so that was quite fun jumping around people just to order. Also do you get the soup at the register? Because I did but my friend didn't? How is that determined? Plus, once seated, they gave us the wrong dish? And it was no where compared to how the Duluth location prepared it. Only upside to this place was the service! Everyone was very friendly and didn't hesitate to help you! Who knows maybe they'll get the hang of it in a couple months. read more

If you love the concept of a quaint, cozy, mahogany-accented, softly-lit French bistro that La Madeleine is so well-known for, well, stay far, far away from this location! I was caught off-guard by #1, the very bright lighting and white walls; #2, the noise level, and most of all, #3, the weird configuration. Never have I been in a restaurant that is so non-linear. Forget restaurants, I can't recall being in *any* place that so lacks a natural sense of traffic flow upon entrance. Who was the architectural 'genius'? Trust me, you will have to fight every intention of walking in and making a straight beeline to the counter to place your order. Don't do it! Fight the feeling! Instead, look to the immediate right. Yes! It doesn't make sense, I know. Somehow, you'll eventually end up at the counter. So many people (like myself) walked in looking confused that management posted a door greeter to direct the crowd. Hey, here's a thought, if you need air traffic control standing post at a restaurant, methinks there is a problem, Houston! The place is large and the set up reminds me of a Piccadilly cafeteria. You make your way down the line with a strange, huge distinction being made about whether you are ordering a salad or a hot entree. Then, you'll proceed off to the nether regions to a very cramped beverage station that a) is too small of an area given the square footage of the place, and b) is so oddly placed that it seems like the beverage station was a last-minute 'oops, I forgot' by the genius architect. The main dining area is very bright with non-natural light and 'open'--- and, it's extremely loaded down with tables, tables, and more tables. There may just be the width of a grain of salt between tables. So, be prepared to shimmy and squeeze. You can also count on hearing everyone else's conversations at full volume. Bottom line? Such an amazing place and staff! Came to celebrate my grandmas 75th birthday, and the manager and every staff member were so incredibly kind and made her feel so special and celebrated. I was a little surprised. Let me start by saying the food and decor were great. However it's actually set up as a cafeteria style restaurant. You can choose items behind the counter or place an order when you reach the register. Drinks are also self serve. It's open seating, meaning there are no booths, just tables. About half the staff was friendly and engaging. The other half not so much. (now that's authentic French dining). As for tipping I was at a loss and I apologize to the wait staff. I was expecting a traditional French cafe and would put the tip on my bill. But since you pay up front it's not possible. Plus, I don't think the same person came to our table more than once. It's a new place so there are probably still some things to be worked out. I'll try it again but I think traditional cafe is the way to go. read more

My mom, daughter and I come here often. Although a bit expensive, we continue to come here because the food is always delicious and the service is always amazing! Just ate at la Madeleine's for the first time because of recommendation from friends. We are there around 12:40pm on a Sunday. I'll walk you through the experience so maybe you want look like an idiot like my family did. When we walked in there is no direction on what to do. There were people hanging out looking at menus like there is a wait but the restaurant was half empty. There were two people "greeters" and we were unlucky enough to have been greeted by the young lady who apparently didn't want to be there or explain anything. They pointed to the menus after we explaining we didn't know what to do. Another group walked in behind us and a young man walked up and greeted the couple behind us and we over heard the process and asked him to explain to us how this works. I wouldn't consider ourselves slow or unintelligent and for whatever reason it wasn't self explanatory. After the young man explained that we order entrees from them and soups and salads from the line we had a bit better of an understanding. We walked up to the young lady taking orders and of course a family of four with two small kids we had a few questions. Her answers were not very helpful provided with a dry non customer service attitude. After we placed the order we grabbed some treys and walked down the "cafeteria style" line. Once we got to the cashier she just looked at us very awkwardly as if we did something wrong. After a very long 15 second stair I asked if I was supposed to give her something and we quickly found out the wooden spoon with a number on it that my daughter was holding for us was needed at this stage. At this point I'm already a bit frustrated but excited because I'm thinking the food must be exceptional if they are doing well and the service is this poor. You typically don't win with two negatives. We sat down and shortly after had our food delivered to our table. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on croissant with pasta salad and it was cut in half with a table spoon full of chicken salad. It covered about 1/3 of the sandwich. The flavor was less than a Panera bread. The pasta salad was pretty good and no complaints there. My wife got the Persian sandwich and she rated it a 5 out of 10. She claims it was very salty. She did have good things to say about the Cesar salad she had as a side. My son had a pizza and it was ok. He's two so not many complaints from him. My daughter had the pasta Alfredo with chicken (kids menu) and I tasted that and it was ok (4 out of 10). Overall I give this place a 2 star for a difficult process, poor attitudes, bad customer service, and average at best food. This is not ran like a typical restaurant and that's ok. We like new experiences but don't make people feel stupid when they are experiencing it for the first time. I hope these things are taken into consideration because I always cheer on a good business who is dedicated to making it work. I went to this place with my parents for a special occasion and was not disappointed! We were welcomed with a bonjour and one of the girls on the line guided us on how everything worked. This is not a restaurant, it is a cafeteria. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was being blocked from entering by the "greeter". That set a very weird vibe right away. Menu items were not remarkable. I had the French dip sandwich, and it was lifeless. My daughter ordered something they were out of, and the manager came out to our table to inform us they couldn't make it, so had her order something else. By that time my other daughter had already gotten her food. The price difference was $4 less than her original order and did not get refunded. Long story short, this place is very disorganized and the food was only passable. Soup was not hot enough, and the best thing we ate was the pre-made sandwich my wife ordered. I don't know why I keep trying this chain, but I am always disappointed. I used to go to the one in Duluth by Gwinnett place mall... Only a few times but every time walking away asking myself "what might be close because i'm still hungry". When I saw this location was going in place of the old TGI Friday's, I was very hesitant. We went here for dinner and as always I was disappointed. The food is always cafeteria grade. Frozen quiche is frozen potato cakes all reheated and put out and cold when you get them. We ordered bowtie pasta which was served on a cold plate and was lukewarm when it got to the table. We had the chicken la Madeline, which was also cold, and the chicken breast was extremely small portion. There was more of the creamy mushroom sauce then there was of the chicken and rice combined. The restaurant itself is really nice looking. They did a great job renovating. It's just such a waste of space. I really wish they would've put in a café intermezzo or something a little better for the area. Putting in another chain that is subpar is just unnecessary. We won't be going back read more

Let's start with no customer service when I walked in. It was 6pm and not busy. The employee who was with no customer, but making a strawberry romanoff, didn't greet me. So I walked towards the cashier and then they both greeted. When I ordered my food, including a French onion soup large, the disgruntled employee prepared it for me to the rim. She put the large bowl in a tiny saucer and handed it to me. Instead of putting it in my tray or asking me can I hand it to you, she gave it to me with an attitude and I had to catch it since it was a quick turnaround and some of the hot soup spilt on my hand and burned myself. She apologized and the other cashier helped me and aided me. This could of ended ugly. I give the two stars bc great food and I appreciate the employees helping me. read more

I finally found the secret to La Madeleine. It's - the Crepes. I tried the Chicken / Brocholli crepe for dinner and it was outstanding. Will try the shrimp next time. They need to work on the menu and offer more "French café " soups and other unique menu options like this. I also think the atmosphere leaves something to be desired, perhaps add some plants, knick knacks, etc to make it seem more comfortable & café like. I appreciate having something different here at Mall of Ga besides the usual Red Lobster, Long Horn and other fast food places. Hope they continue to improve. Terrible experience. They charged my card for $5,800 and weren't helpful in resolving. I showed the manager the negative balance of my card and he said I would be able to use it in 2 or 3 days. This is the only place I go to eat a good portion sized pasta that is simple but filling at the same time. I don't come often but when I do service is always great and can answer my questions about the food without hesitation. The interior design gives off a french vibe where it makes you feel like your in France with the fireplace and server outfits. One service I love about this place is how they always have free appetizer sliced bread at the back near the drink station. They place out free small slices of bread along with black raspberry, strawberry jam, and butter which is always appreciated. The manager was very sweet and thankful for our presence inside the restaurant. He personally came up to us after we ordered to appreciate our service!
