I had the Reuben sandwich on marble rye bread. The only time I have ever heard of marble rye is when Jerry Seinfeld stole it from that old bag. We used to eat here once a month or more. I loved the huge portions of egg and chicken salad they had on their sandwiches. We have had it twice this year and it isn't the same. Extremely light spreads of both the chicken salad on pita (should have taken a photo it was almost comical how little was on it); and now the egg salad too. Learned it is under new ownership. Friendly place for sure. This is our occasional "go to" for our company functions. Today, we paid over $9.00 for the pastrami Rueben, but since it was on gluten free bread there was only a partial slice...not even a full slice of pastrami, rolled up on about a 3.5"x3.5" slices of bread. The other Rueben sandwich that we ordered, for the same price on marble rye was piled high! When we questioned it they were kind enough to take it back to fix it. When we got it back, it was the same partial slice stacked a different way and made to look like more meat was added. What's worse is that it looked like the pastrami was put under a bread toaster and was super dry. So disappointing! read more

I used to love My Friends Place (L'ville Suwanee Rd.). I eat at this location occasionally but today will most likely be my last. Turkey broccoli melt was awful. Too wet and salty. Forgot mustard on the side and asked for lite dressing and was given raspberry vinaigrette??? Cashier took about 5 minutes to note this and it still wasn't correct. The young lady working in the back, but also running food out, dressed completely inappropriate. Short shorts and short shirt. I have been eating at my friends place for 20+ years since I was a kid. Me and my mom loved to get lunch here back in the day. The inside is really clean and I love the digital menu. I went after lunch time at around 2pm and the place was empty. It took about 5 minutes to get my food. The wrap was really tasty but the pasta salad was way too wet. Found this restaurant while visiting Duluth. Best chicken salad ever. Also had a Gouda soup that was really flavorful. Service was excellent and the restaurant was spotless! Overheard 2 other diners order the carrot cake. Must be really good as they were excited when it arrived. The owner was present and checked on everyone making sure your experience was a good one. This use to be my go to place for years, it is not like it use to be. My fav Chicken salad was wet and had cranberries or something in it. I also had the egg salad that was my # 2 fav two weeks ago and it had a weird texture and color. it used to be chopped small and not chunky. so sad read more

I'm so glad I found this place. I originally went for the HHonors Dining points but was impressed the food quality, the friendly service, and the HUGE size of the sandwiches. Each time I've gone I've tried a different menu option and I've been very pleased with everything. I mean, the store name is kinda appropriate, because customer service is so nice and accommodating here that it does seem like you're at your friend's place. I ordered their lunch special for $6, which includes the following: 1/2 sandwich of your choice (excluding pita) cup of soup medium drink My half sandwich was a turkey on white, with lettuce, tomato and spicy mustard. Very soft bread, fresh ingredients and easily devoured. They make good sammies! My soup was the kale, Italian sausage and cheese soup, which is very similar to the Italian wedding soup, but with a cheesy base. Man this was some VERY good soup and i'd have eaten another cup if they sat it in front of me. While I was there I also ordered a 2 pack of their cookies ($1.99). These things were addicting chocolate chip cookies! In addition to being chocolate chip, they were also glazed with this toffee like surface that made them a treat to eat. Highly recommended! Located in the Shops at Sugarloaf Station, this little strip houses the likes of Subway, Verizon, etc and comes with shared parking, although i've never had trouble finding a spot. My sister and I wanted to enjoy a simple, affordable lunch on a Friday afternoon, so I'm glad I found a Groupon Now! deal for My Friend's Place. They have many locations in Georgia, but since I had never heard of it, I looked it up and found mixed reviews on Yelp. I'm so glad I ignored the negative ones! The Groupon Now! deal was $5 for $8 worth of food and drinks at My Friend's Place, only valid at the Duluth location. When my sister and I got there around 1 pm, we were pleasantly surprised to see they had a lunch special - $6 for half a sandwich, a cup of soup (your choice from their daily soups), and a drink! After looking at the regular menu and seeing that the lunch special was really the best deal, we both chose to get it. I ordered the half Chicken Salad sandwich on white bread and cup of New England Clam Chowder. Since the lunch special was only $6 and I had $2 left to use for the deal, I got two chocolate chip cookies. Our totals ended up slightly more than $8 each (with tax), but the employee who rang up our orders said not to worry about the additional amount. He was super friendly, and we appreciated this. * Chicken Salad Sandwich - This is one of the "house specialties," and I was super happy about my choice. Per their menu, it contains "Chunky white meat chicken made with apples, pecans, and a sprinkling of diced celery." They top the chicken salad mixture with a piece of lettuce, and man, it was really delicious! I have to admit it was the best Chicken Salad Sandwich (only half, though!) I have ever had! The chicken was yummy and the ingredients were super fresh! When I was done, I was a little sad that I only got to eat half a sandwich, but there's always next time! * New England Clam Chowder - The lunch special comes with a "cup" of soup, which is probably literally one cup. It's tiny. The first time I got my food, they accidentally gave me a different soup (which I realized after I started eating it), but they had no problem giving me the New England Clam Chowder when I told them about the mistake. The clam chowder came out piping hot, creamy, and oh-so-good! I really enjoyed it! * Chocolate Chip Cookies - These cookies are like sugar cookies with chocolate chips in them! They were yummy and a great way to end my lunch. Overall, My Friend's Place in Duluth gets 4 stars - for their fresh, tasty, and affordable sandwiches and soups! I reviewed this place two months ago and gave it a good review. We have been back several times since then and liked it every time. Today, however, we pulled up about 30 minutes past close, (we didn't realize it), but the place was dark and the owner came out, recognized us and insisted we come in for a sandwich. We were hesitant because it seemed they were clearly close to leaving. The owner took our orders and made our sandwiches. He was so inviting and friendly, chatting with us while we ate. It's clear he cares about customer service and quality. It's rare to find a fast casual place that has consistently good service and food. The prices are reasonable too! I truly hate giving bad reviews but I'm very disappointed with the food we ordered here. We were four people and ordered various items. I ordered a tuna wrap first of all The wrap came with lettuce tomato and small Amount of tuna. But that wasn't even the issue the tuna was room temperature and even slightly warmer and please note this not a tuna melt so the tuna should not be warm! In Addition to that it had no flavor whatsoever. One of my coworkers ordered a BLT The sandwich came literally almost empty!!! And the other orders didn't go much better. The store was empty when we were there (1:30 on a Saturday) when our order was ready, instead of delivering them to our table, they called out my name.
