Two of my friends came with me this past Wednesday and we had a wonderful experience. Before my friends arrived, I took advantage of a free Iced decaf mocha I received after completing a survey. I promise you it was better than the one I get from Starbucks but not quite as big as the venti. I haven't seen these ladies in a while and the staff was very kind by not rushing us out after we had finished our lunch. If u are looking for the best chocolate pastry this is the place .. they call it the sacher tote and also have a parfait form of the same which comes in a cute container ! i was very dissatisfied and disappointed in this la madeline. it didn't feel like they had any AC on, and it was very uncleanly. all the tables were dirty, and the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. my french onion soup was burnt and the salad was way smaller portioned than normal. don't come here. read more

I came to this location since it is near my employer and I wanted a delicious breakfast. Normally when I've walked into other LM locations, I am greeted with a smile and "Bonjour". This location obviously doesn't partake in any of that. I arrive at the front counter and two ladies look up at me and continue doing other things than helping customers. Even a lady who was making pastries looked up at me and continued working. Not once did anyone state, "I'll be with you shortly" or anything along those lines. They looked up at me and then continued on. It is unfortunate that one of these people appeared to be a manager by the way they were dressed. That individual turned around to the kitchen area (she was one of the ones who didn't acknowledge I was in fact there) and waited until someone else came to take my order. The ray of sunshine who took my order was far from that. I have her name on my receipt, but I'd rather not blast her out. When she was finally finished talking to others, she said "I'm ready" and looked up at me, meaning she was ready to take my order. Is that how you acknowledge someone?! After ordering, I scanned my app and I asked her if it went through because they are supposed to say when it does. Nothing. It was as if I was pulling teeth from her to speak. The only decent interaction I had here was with the nice lady who brought me my food. She was kind and arrived with a smile on her face. I should've asked her for her name to applaud her, but I didn't. On the other hand, my food tasted good and came out in a reasonable amount of time. Not a good way to run a restaurant The menu has changed and not for the best. Chicken La Madeleine is fairly bland and anemic looking no wonder they smother it with sauce. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Well, i love the french dip, the lemonade, the little bite size fruit tarts...Yum. I gave 1 star because of the very poor customer services i recieved today. I order a total of $55+ of food for brunch. My deserts were missing (2nd time this happened, 1st time was last week) and so i went back inside for them... Needless to say, the "manager" offer to search my car for my desert with me. She also explained to me that I need to understand, there are many scammers out there that come back to get food from them. THIS IS INSANE. Houston at 1PM is like an oven, a 9 month pregnant person (me) with N95 mask and COVID gear on need to wait for her to search my car for the desert that i paid for and never get. I told her forget about it and i am not coming back. I always get the Chicken Parisian with potatoe soup and chips.... this is the best warm toasted sandwich shop ever with the best coconut cream cake. First time to dine-in at this location since they moved over from Voss. I always loved that location. Ordered the Cranberry & Pecan Wild Field Salade with chicken. What I got was mixed field greens drenched in dressing with chicken. No cranberries. No pecans. Mostly dressing. On the plus side their chicken is delicious, but not worth the $9 I paid for the "salad." The ambience reminded me that I was in a shopping center. Also not worth the trip. I usually only come in to pick up a pastries, but I might just stick to HEB pastries since it's in the same shopping center and drive over to Adair for a much better lunch. Maybe their other locations aren't as bad? Not sure if it's worth it to try them out when there are so many other options. read more

It's a typical La Madeleine, but not my favorite in the Houston area. The food and the coffee just isn't the same/isn't as good as the one on Westheimer near Beltway 8, and the staff isn't as friendly. Also, it seems to be louder than other La Madeleine locations, especially at peak hours. But, overall it isn't a bad location to go to if you don't want to drive to another location. read more

On a Friday afternoon, I had a lunch date with my mom and both decided to come here for a Caesar salad. Definitely ordered more than just the salad. Paid, and sat down outside. Within like 10 minutes, our food arrived. My mom ordered the salad sampler with a Caesar salad, potato soup and strawberry romanoff along with a soft drink. I ordered the half chicken riviera sandwich with a side caesar salad along with a raspberry lemonade. As I'm finishing my side Caesar salad, I go for the sandwich. For some reason I thought it came with cheese, so I get up bring my sandwich to the front and I tell the lady who had AirPods in at the register that my sandwich was missing the cheese. She says okay takes my plate slides it to the back and tells the kitchen to add cheese.... I will never forget that this guy literally takes the original sandwich, and with the same gloves he already had on, proceeds to open my sandwich, literally slaps on a piece of cheese, puts it back together, on the same plate and sends it back to the front. I look at what seemed to be a manager in the kitchen who was literally just watching this guy. When I received the plate back, the manager, still not saying anything, makes eye contact with me, still doesn't say anything, and at this point I just.. shake my head and laugh a little. I took my plate back to my table and just kind of stared at it. I guess now I know this sandwich doesn't actually come with cheese but that was... not okay. They could've just gave me a piece of cheese to add to the sandwich myself but I guess not. Let's do it the easy, unsanitary way. After all, my mom enjoyed her meal but I just.. enjoyed my side salad and the raspberry lemonade I ordered. Which is so sad because I was so hungry. I've actually been to this location before, got to-go and have had some issues. One where I contacted the general manager who said he'd be mailing some gift cards to my address to make up for the fact. Gift cards that to this day, I've never received. I've tried to give this place a second chance but after this last visit, I don't think I'm going to be giving it a third chance. read more

This La Madeleine location is absolutely tops!! The food is ALWAYS top quality and in the COVID times, their quality has not faltered. The staff is always friendly and all abide by safety protocols too!! I have always been super impressed with this restaurant's quality of food (because it's all really yummy) but they went above and beyond with the Holiday Feast package. It is supremely delicious. The Turkey was juicy and tender, the apple/cranberry stuffing was amazing (very awesome) and the green beans and mushroom sauce made me dance. C'est amaze!! read more

OMG! A co-worker of mine asked if I wanted to share a sandwich with her. I hesitated because LaMadeleine's food has never appealed to me. The only thing I've ever bought in the 10 years Ive gone is the blue berry muffins which are EXCELLENT. I decided to share the sandwich believing I'll accept it and put it to the side for later. She ordered the Turkey and Brie sandwich and OMG it was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. It was warm, bread was toasted perfectly. Fair food, not the best but not the worst. I have honestly had better dishes at other locations so I don't want to completely discredit La Madeleine. We came on a busy dinner service for the first time so the wait time was a bit long compared to other visits. My soup was GREAT! Had the country potato soup, my husband had the Tomato basil. First bad experience in awhile. Usually get the chicken friand followed by a petite Caesar salad. On most occasions, never have gone wrong, full of flavor and just hits the right spot. This is the first La Madeleine I've ever had to give a 1 star to. I've never witnessed any type of issues until now. It seems as if they were short staffed, and the on-duty female manager had to reiterate to the one and only cook available the orders. She even had to assist him on the line. While waiting, patiently, I observed to see a few customers slightly irritated due to the long wait. One customer was cursing under his breathe. Another customer returned her incorrect order missing a few items. The on-site manager had to refund a customer because they just couldn't follow through with her order. My order was also incorrect. My dessert was wrong, but I excused it. However, when I addressed to the cashier (Robinson) with the Blue Hair that I wanted two sides of pasta and one was missing, she only charged me for one, and I guess didn't hear when I initially stated two sides of pasta. I told her "Okay" and didn't want to wait any longer since I was also frustrated. Usually they would try to rectify the situation. No. She didn't even apply an effort of "I apologize about the mishap ma'am. Is there anything I can do" Not even a "Have a great day." My pasta had lettuce in it and tasted stale. My sandwich was sloppy, poorly prepared with ham hanging out, and sauce seeping into my bread making it soggy. The manager Ruiz Martinez operates the San Felipe location. If he is allowing this establishment to perform in such a poor manner with lack of staff, questionable customer service, and delayed turn around times on orders, I'm going to assume operating this restaurant at an incompetent level is not a means of concern and will eventually escalate into problematic issues. This is one of my favorite lunch spots! The food is great and the atmosphere is very homely and inviting. They even have a fireplace inside! Okay, it's fake but it looks great and it gives you that livingroom feeling, especially when it's cold outside. Coined as a "country french café" you will enjoy anything off the menu. The soups, salads and sandwiches are great. Oh let's not forget about the variety of delicious desserts that are on display. Their in the display case as soon as you walk up, so you have to get one. They leave you no choice. You have your choice of breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can choose dessert at any time. For breakfast, you can choose any one of their famous specialty dishes: Parisien Eggs Benedict (my favorite), French Toast or Quiche. For lunch, my favorite is the Chicken Parisien sandwich (half) with a petite Ceasar Salad and a cup of Potato Soup. Any soup or sandwich is a winner. For dinner, I recommend the Roasted Salmon and Dill Sauce entrée. I've had this for lunch also, and it's a definite winner. There are many varieties to choose from at any time of the day, so you will not be disappointed. Located at the front entrance of the HEB Store strip center, there is plenty of parking. The restaurant actually designates a section on the side of the restaurant for patron parking. Upon entering, you can grab a menu to make your selection before heading to the counter to place your order. There is complimentary bread, which I recommend if you are having soup. They go so well together. Whatever your taste buds are when you walk in, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I promise you will enjoy every bite! read more

Excellent food and service! This was my first visit to La Madeleine, and it was an awesome experience. The inside was cute, quaint, and cozy. The cashier Jackie was very kind. AWESOME customer service! She was patient and helpful. My boyfriend and I were delighted to hear her say phrases in French as she explained the menu to us. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich with caramelized onions, apples, and goat cheese. It was delicious. I also had a ceaser salad and the very popular tomato soup which were both equally delightful. My boyfriend had the "Corque Monsieur" and he really enjoyed it as well. This review is not for the food, because I've been to many La Madeleine locations and the food tastes the same no matter which location. This place gets 2 stars because: 1) The women's bathroom was nasty. I had to put double layers of that toilet seat protection cover because I felt unsafe. Paper towels were all over the floor, because the trash bin was full. And it smelled like what I imagine the men's restroom would smell like. 2) The cashier that took my sister's order, Dana, entered it into the system wrong, even after repeating the order back to my sister correctly. So the wrong food was served and it took quite some time for my sister to get the correct order. Chicken salad and chips are pre-made right? I'm pretty sure we shouldn't have waited that long.. 3) My cashier, Scott, was unfriendly and I was just put off by his attitude in general. Ordering a croissant should make me happy, but he ruined it. :*( Then he proceeded to give my sister a snarky look when she asked to check on the status of her order. Learn customer service, people.
