Came to celebrate a special occasion and decided to indulge in their Sunday brunch buffet. It is $135 per person for adults but it does include the drinks (2 hrs). We tried the pisco sour, maracuyá sour, lychee mimosa, sangria de la mar, purple bay. All were good but my favorites were probably the sangria and the purple bay. I loved the appetizers in the buffet--some notable favorites were scallops, honestly any of the raw fish options and the pork empanadas. For our entrees we chose the picante de mani (pork belly in peanut sauce) and the el achupado (seafood noodles), which also came with a stone pot fried rice that our server mixed and served to us. All of them were good--the peanut sauce was sweet and reminded me of a mole sauce. I did make an online reservation, for which you have to include credit card since that no-shows or last-minute cancellations less than 24 hrs beforehand results in a $95 charge. Seating is available indoors or outdoors, and it was a comfortable environment. Service was good at clearing the plates and getting our orders for more drinks. I parked in Brickell and enjoyed the walk over to Brickell key, but there was a sign at the Mandarin hotel showing discounted valet parking with validation. Overall I will say that it is very pricey, may not be worth it to some people. Although I probably won't a second time, I personally think it was worth trying for a special occasion.

Also a drink recommendation. Ambience * Outdoor terrace seating on the water. * Very cozy and quiet at first but later in the night got louder. Food quality * Always high quality of food at La Mar. * The flavors and sauces are divine. * Probably ordered too much but this is always the case with such a good menu. 5/5 as usual. Cannot beat this experience.
La Mar is one of my favorite restaurants in Brickell! So sad that they are closing in May. I usually come here during every trip to Miami. The lomo saltado, chicken empanadas and the calamari are my go to dishes. Not to mention the drinks here are good, can never go wrong with a palmoma or skinny marg! We always ask for a seat near the water, best view!
I have been to the hotel before for the MO Bar & Lounge. Happy to return to try La Mar. I loved everything about this experience. The staff are friendly, helpful and provide exceptional service. Our server Mariana was the sweetest! Seating was prompt and we elected to sit outdoors as the weather was beautiful. I ordered Duck confit from their special menu along with a Pisco sour. My meal was delicious and full of flavor. The Pisco sour, I am not sure if I liked the taste of it. I will have to give it another go. I am already anticipating my next visit here. I loved that they have gluten free options.
What a beautiful place for Date Night . This Michelin star restaurant sits beautifully on the water in the Mandarin Oriental hotel. We set reservations for outside so we could enjoy the view but made the mistake of not taking into account the setting sun. It was very warm & blinding for. About a 1/2 hour. After the sun wax down it became a wonderful experience. The skyline, boats & water added a classic touch of elegance to the evening. My husband had a vodka cocktail & I enjoyed a couple glasses of refreshing Riesling. Our meals were delicious & of course my Peruvian husband had to order the Lucuma ice cream . We had an excellent dinner date Only thing is it's about to close for 6 or so months & relocate to across the water.
Wow! This was a truly incredible experience. From the staff's friendliness, to the presentation of the meal, and the wonderfully dimly lit aura, this is a must-try of you are visiting Miami. The cuisine is Peruvian, and the variety of options is incredible. My lens is vegetarian, and I had 2-3 options, which while a little slimmer than I normally prefer, each option looked incredibly tasty (though I steered away from the over priced stir fry which would have removed the primary protein and left only vegetables). The lychee pisco was amazing, refreshing, and deceivingly quick to drink. I ordered the udon noodles - rich, flavorful, and thick. Absolutely incredible. And the desserts! I cannot wait to try this again in the future (whenever it is that I make it back to Miami).
Beautiful experience all around. The view from the outside dining was breathtaking, the service was topnotch, among the best I've seen. Appetizers: Pulpo: as delicious as it was beautiful. Purple dots of olive cream and green dots of herbed aioli framed a lovely piece of grilled octopus. Churros de Trucha: crispy churros, filled with smoked trout mousse, crème fraiche with truffle oil, salmon slices, caviar= delightful and unique Main: Arroz pegado: sticky rice with seafood (prawns and clams) Fried fish of the day: nuggets of fried fish plated in the breaded fish with sweet sauce. Dessert: Pavlova: light airy and delicate Chocolate cake, birthday comp: good muffin-like cake with a scoop of strawberry ice cream Lucuma Chocolate Mousse: the Lucuma one was especially good because it has a rich velvety flavor and unique flavor option that is uniquely Peruvian
I had very high expectations for this restaurant since a lot of friends recommended to me. I may say the food was NOT bad. But I don't think anything really stand up to me. Their drinks are amazing though. And of course if you are seated outside the view is wonderful. From the food we ordered I liked their octopus and their scallops. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Miami. Amazing drinks and super creative dishes. The scallop with aged parm was perfectly cooked and had such an interesting contrast in flavor from the delicate scallop and strong Parmesan that I've never experienced before, yet was impressed with how perfectly balanced it was. Ceviche is a must at any Peruvian restaurant. The rice was so perfectly crispy and well balanced with seafood. Loved everything about it!
Pros: Acurio's restaurants always exceed my expectations. We had a delicious feast, starting with the churros as an appetizer, wow, so original and delightful! I had the beet crab causa and hubby had the seafood pepian. The pepian was the star of the night, reminded me of my grandmas cooking, pure perfection. I also had the chicha sour and hubby had a non alcohol drink, both were good. Cons: you have to valet park, which is always annoying (for me). The parking is $18 with validation, overpriced. I didn't mind the price of the meals, but the drinks were too pricey $19 for a small sour is a bit much. Definitely going back!
What an incredible place! We had one night away from the kids, so we were in search of an *experience* and this definitely fit the bill. The view from the patio was amazing, the food was so unique and delicious, and the service was outstanding. The ceviche sampler was so good: three completely different takes on ceviche, with Asian influence, Mexican influence, and more traditional. The octopus was perfection! The lomo saltado and empanadas were also supreme. Definitely do not skip on dessert- each one sounded so good we wanted one of each, but settled on manzana miso, which had the most unique smoked ice cream, such a good choice! This place is certainly the right place to treat yo self!
For our 11-year anniversary dinner, we wanted to experience a delicious but meaningful dinner, and La Mar absolutely delivered in all aspects. Knowing that this iconic spot at the Mandarin Oriental was closing soon, we knew that we had to make our special dinner reservation here. We felt incredibly lucky to experience the beautiful waterfront views from Brickell Key and Chef Diego Oka's incredible cooking one last time at this location. We started with the La Mar Golden Platter ($95), a delicious spread of ceviches and causas that perfectly showcased the bright, fresh flavors La Mar is known for. For some, this sampler would be enough to call it an evening but we still had room for something else so we went with the Lomo Saltado ($40). Although this is a classic dish made at many Peruvian restaurants, it's the best Lomo Saltado we've ever had, no exaggeration! The dish featured tender, high-quality strip loin and packed so much flavor that we genuinely considered licking the plate clean. La Mar should consider bottling this sauce for purchase in the future. The beverages were fantastic, as well! I went with a Lychee Pisco Sour, and my wife went with a Chicha Morada. We wrapped up the evening with a Sticky Toffee Pudding served with sesame ice cream, which came with a lit candle to celebrate our 11-year anniversary. While it's bittersweet to say goodbye to this picturesque location, we're excited to follow La Mar and Chef Diego Oka and his team to their new home closer to the heart of the Brickell Financial District. This experience at La Mar was truly an anniversary dinner we'll never forget. read more
With only 6 weeks or so left before the Mandarin Oriental closes for the complete rebuild, just had to come. La Mar will be moving don't worry. The food was just amazing. Standout was the mixed grill (pic attached) and the variety of Pisco cocktails. The service was impeccable even on a prime Friday night, and definitely sit outside if weather permits. August 2023 visit Back again and it was great! Didn't disappoint and EVERYTHING was great! We had the arroz verde, lomo saltado, grilled pulpo and passion fruit pisco sours and the corn dessert. Simply divine from start to finish. It was great seeing Gerald & Chef Diego and it was a pleasure being served by Carlos, Rodolfo and Angel. The hostesses were great and will definitely be June 2023 visit Yummy!!!!! Exquisite! Fresh! Flavorful! All these attributes are consistent with every dish and every drink. We went to pre-celebrate my birthday and do it one of Miami's best restaurants. We started with their pisco sour and followed that with the passion fruit version of that drink. Our starter dishes were the duck breast, octopus, a crab dish, and scallops; all of them incredibly amazing!!!! Our main course was the two pound snapper service with a healthy rice and bok choy. We were able to devour it all. We also had two desserts and champagne to wrap up the evening. Easily a 10 out of 10 rating. The service was like no other; the attention, the connection and the suggestions all made the experience wonderful. Joe, was the man. Every time we finished with a dish he was right there to replace with fresh silverware. In addition to that, the water glasses were filled time and time again. I love that. I'm that type of diner; bougie. Joe was great! Wildine and Anastasia were also wonderful and did a great job. Alex and Marco made sure our service was the absolute best! We really felt special and it was everything we could've asked for to get the birthday off to a great start! Tomas and every hostess who welcomed us with such joy and glee. We walked in and lit up the spot and they were for it. The head chef, Diego Oka, came over to say hello and bring out a dessert. Nothing could ruin this night. We ate outdoors in the midst of a typical Miami storm and it was beautiful. The patio is well lit and seems to have more children outside but it worked well. This beautiful Peruvian restaurant is located at the very elegant MandarinOriental hotel in Brickell. The elegance, chicly dressed guests, and lovely decor accompany you to either indoor dining before the chefs or outdoors to one of the best views of Miami and Brickell. Either way, you will be the winner. We would have loved to sit outdoors, but it was raining hard that day. We enjoyed sitting near the chefs. We ordered a variety of dishes: Lomo Saltado, Cancha with beer, Cebiche Chalaco, and Apple dessert. Everything was delicious! Our server was very attentive and friendly. The background music was perfect and not too loud. We were able to have a pleasant conversation. Parking is difficult to find in Brickell, so we ubered here. We had a wonderful time and will come back again soon. read more
La Mar had one of the best services I've ever gotten in North America. For this service I am happy to have a 20% tip added to the bill. If you've never been to Miami you'll find that many of their higher end restaurants will add a mandatory 20% tip to your bill, which granted is an unpleasant surprise to many, but at the same time the best service I've received in America have been from Miami. Everything we tried at La Mar was executed with care, passion, and perfection. The tiradito lujoso was plated like a work of art and the colours, flavours, and textures of each piece of that dish worked together to create a beautiful masterpiece. This was a sashimi dish using Japanese hamachi with a Peruvian twist. La Fiesta Del Puerco was a Peruvian twist on Korean Bossam with Peruvian inspired banchan to wrap with the most perfectly crispy pork belly we've ever had. The top most layer of the belly was crispy but not hard & not chewy, and the under layers of meat were sooo soft without too much fat. The sauce that it was floating in adds a bright texture that makes this fatty meat more vibrant in taste and less greasy. The pickled banchan also cuts away the greasiness of pork belly. The Arroz Pegado came out in a warm skillet but instead of having to wait for the rice at the bottom to scorch and become crispy, the rice was already prepped to have evenly distributed crispy crunchy rice throughout the dish so that every bite comes with the delicious crunch of socarrat. The shrimp were so juicy and large. My only complaint from everything we tried the entire night was that the clam meat was a bit dry and not as succulent as I had hoped for. Lastly the desserts are a must order. Bc it was our wedding anniversary they gifted us a small chocolate brownie/cake topped with strawberry ice cream and chocolate sprinkles...it was the fluffiest, most delicious chocolate cake I've ever had ...it wasn't too sweet and the texture was just so soft. We ordered the Manzana Miso and it was again an orchestra of flavours and textures. The smoke Japanese miso ice cream was so special. Also a portion of the proceeds of this dessert goes to support a non-profit that "establishes a place to call home for children who cannot live with their parents". This is one of my favourite restaurants of this year. Also the view!! What an incredible view paired with an incredible dining experience. This place is A++. A point to consider for the restaurant is that the La Mar backdrop and sign by the front entrance (although set up prettily) has lighting that is not very pleasant for photo taking so if you want ppl to be taking pictures by the backdrop, consider putting in lighting that's more like a photoshoot set with lighting at the right places that won't cast weird shadows on people's faces. read more
2 words: FREAKING AMAZING! We came for brunch and had a very good experience. Food was amazing, service amazing, & ambiance amazing. We were well taken care of here at La Mar. We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental so dining was just downstairs for us. We dined with an infant so they were able to accommodate us with ease and I appreciate that they sat us in our own area to not disturb other diners with our baby. Our server was very attentive and came with the drinks fairly quickly. If you are looking for some all American breakfast, this is NOT it. I dessert display was something you will never experience anywhere else. I can't wait to come back when we visit Miami again. read more
Came here for my birthday dinner on a Friday evening after having this spot on my list for YEARS now. Having traveled all over Peru just a few years ago, Gastón is definitely the pride and joy of their country. We tried a variety of dishes to start,the duck tiradito was superb and the conchitas were incredible and the presentation was pure magic. The octopus was great as well. We also shared the lomo (obviously we have to try the signature dish of Peru) and the achupado was delicious and very rich. We ended up taking half of the lomo and achupado home as we were actually pretty full after having several cocktails along with dinner. The view of the Miami skyline at sunset is amazing and sets the vibe for a romantic night. The service is also top notch as well. Definitely want to come back for their iconic brunch read more
I really enjoyed my dinner at La Mar! I thought the service was fantastic and the views from the outdoor terrace was great. The food was top notch, definitely start with one of their ceviches and get the grilled octopus- probably the best one I've ate. The star entree is the Lomo Saltado followed by the Peruvian Trout Miso. The steak in the Lomo Saltado was so good! The miso combined with ssamjang really made the trout dish. It rained when we were about to eat dessert so they moved us indoors. It was so loud inside but the decor was very nice. One of my top dining spots in Miami. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner with my family and WOW- 10/10 recommend. This is truly a culinary experience that will transport you to the lakes/ mountains of Peru. I could taste the salt from the lake the red trout were swimming in Peru. The red trout, which was the dinner special, was my favorite dish. Although, this was the best lomo soltado I've ever had. First, the restaurant is located within the mandarin oriental hotel. This hotel is spectacular with a live jazz band on Saturday night playing Latin jazz music until 11 pm. You can sit around in the lounge with drinks and listen to them. I recommend making your dinner reservation earlier than 7 pm so that you'll have time to enjoy the jazz band. Next, our 8 pm reservation got pushed to 845 pm due to the fact that it was pouring outside(typical Miami weather) and all the outdoor reservations had to be moved inside which backed everyone's reservation which is understandable. No one can control the weather. During those 45 minutes, we had a blast taking photos in the hotel lobby, and catching drinks at the restaurant bar. Once we were seated, our waiter rodolfo, was simply lovely. He gave us the best food recommendations. He even informed us that the restaurant has 3 kitchens- one for cebiche, one for sashimi, and one for the entrees. There was a busser that assisted the waiter in picking up dirty plates/ utensils constantly. We were very impressed on how attentive he was with constantly refilling our waters. For a Michelin rated restaurant, this is definitely somewhere to go for a special occasion. You will be transported on a magical culinary experience to Peru, all the while overlooking the Miami skyline. OH, and don't forget to have you valet ticket validated at the restaurant to have the price reduced from $40 to $18! read more

We had an incredible evening last night. The service is just as impressive as the food. The venue is beautiful (indoor & outdoor) and the cocktails were the best we've had in a very long time. And what about that view? Stunning! I took my wife and her best friend because they both celebrate their respective birthdays this week. I don't think I could've picked a better place to celebrate them. They had both just come from being at the spa all day so I wanted them to continue experiencing the same relaxed and beautiful vibe that they both were pampered to at the spa. La Mar hits all the right notes and is a great choice for that.,Talía, our amazing and talented server, was outstanding - THANK YOU she made my wife and her bestie feel super special., Oh, and the kids menu is one of the best in town. . read more
I am so obsessed with this place. I had been wanting to try it out for a while now and used family in town as the perfect excuse to take them. Came for the view, will go back for the food! We were greeted and sat immediately and all the staff was so nice and welcoming. Our waiter was so helpful! We were lost looking at the menu and definitely wanted to try something different. He had great suggestions and we loved it all. Tiradito Lujoso was a twist on a hamachi style that I still dream about. The flavors were so fresh and complimented each other so perfect. Empanadas were very juicy and the pastry part was hard but not dry. I'm normally a seafood pasta girl but I went with the seafood rice (El Arroz Verde) this time and I am soooo glad that I did. It was so delicious and I would order this same dish again! read more

I went to La Mar for a business meeting with a few colleagues and clients and it was spectacular! The food, service and amazing views of Miami sure impressed us all! I'm a big fan of Peruvian food and I can say this is by far one of the best more modern Peruvian restaurants I've ever been too! Everything was great, truly can't wait to go back! read more
We really enjoyed the unlimited breakfast while staying at the Mandarin! The food quality is what you would expect of a Michelin star restaurant. I'll be real the only reason we ate here is because the breakfast was included with our stay, otherwise we may have missed this! I'm glad we didn't. My only complaint was the other guests that were dining in were very unwelcoming and stared at my partner and I a lot. It's interesting a lot of the reviews from other people of color have said they felt similar unwelcoming feelings from the staff but our experience was with other guests of the hotel. Definitely made dining uncomfortable having people gawk at you in an unfriendly way, but we didn't have any complaints about the staff, the food, or the environment. THE PLACE: Located in the Mandarin Oriental, $18 valet parking is a must. I didn't see any other parking options when I went. Inside the restaurant is modern, cozy, and inviting, but the true star is the outside seating as it has a spectacular city view. Whether you sit inside or out, there is a small staircase that leads you to the boardwalk which you may either walk or use as a photo moment. THE FOOD: Typically upscale restaurants tend to have sub-par food, but this wasn't the case for La Mar. I was impressed that the food was actually so good and different to what I both expected and have had before. 5/5 for drinks and dishes. The best restaurant I've been to in Miami so far. If you're a foodie and care about quality, creativity, and out of this world flavor, this is the spot for you. Forbidden banter cocktail was delicious, nice coconut flavor. Classic ceviche was amazing, empanadas were yummy, and the lomo saltado was fabulous. The food was so flavorful and delicious. The water views on their two patios can't be beat. We sat on the first smaller patio, but next time I will ask for the larger patio, which seemed more lively. Good service. A bit pricey, but the food is well worth it. I highly recommend for any special celebrations. Valet parking is available or you can self park at a garage across the bridge and walk over the bridge to the restaurant, it's a short walk and doable in heels. read more

SERVICE: So... as a peruvian I was really excited to visit this place with my boyfriend little did I know he was going to propose to me which was a horrible experience for my now fiance. He was extremely nervous because he wanted to everything be perfect thats why he call 1 week in advance and the restaurant told my fiance they're going to serve us to complimentary 2 glasses of champagne with a dessert and that would be the signal for him to do it.... IT NEVER ARRIVED so he had to improvise. I had to ask for water like 4 times for my waiter and still nothing, I feel extremely unattended meanwhile the table next to us even a guy in a suit came to their table to explain the dishes. Being outside was a little bit uncomfortable beacuse I had bugs all the time on my plate that I have to ask an argentian blad guy (extremely nice and respectful) to change my plates and he did it immediately he also was the one bringing the water that I needed. The chaufa was overcooked and burned, and the chicken of the causa was dry.... The poor service ruined a day that was supposed so enjoy The jalea and the ceviche were good. read more
Wow! I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for so long, and it was completely worth it! I loved it so much. The view and the ambiance are amazing (what more could you ask for than seeing the whole Miami skyline?). The service was amazing. Our waitress was super sweet, and he kindly explained the whole menu. Plus, I loved that every time we got a dish, they explained it. Now, onto the food--we ordered tiradito, ceviche clásico, lomo saltado, and anticucho de pollo. Everything was amazing, and you can tell how much love goes into every dish. The taste was incredible, and the presentation was top-notch. Oh and desserts, the chocolate cake and the merengue were amazing. read more
Excellent. Not Michelin, but almost there. Finally went to La Mar. We had to change reservations multiple times during the day...blame it on copious amounts of Gray Goose, but they accommodated us and obliged us. We arrive and had the most beautiful view of Miami. I was transported to the Tequesta Indians and Fort Dallas pioneers of old. Just amazing. We ordered the octopus (pulpo for my non-anglos) and it was perfection. We then had the fried fish a la fried Asian. My God what a culinary fusion. I felt like I was in Macao or Hong Kong. We drank a perfect Albariño--the sole white for fish-- and were elevated to perfection. And then as if this was insufficient we had the chocolate cake. Perhaps the best I've had ever. Hats off to the desert chef! I learned that the whole location was going to come down shortly, so make your way to La Mar before it joins those colonial ships leaving Macao and Hong Kong. Our server was Basque and she brought a unique knowledge of seafood; appropriate to that region of Spain known for its culinary tradition. read more

Today, I experienced an unparalleled brunch by the bay at Miami's La Mar, featuring delectable dishes and exceptional service that surpassed my expectations. I visited La Mar in San Francisco in early April, twice, because the first time was so amazing that I had to return. The La Mar in Miami continued to impress me. Seated outside, on a not-too-hot Miami day overlooking Biscayne Bay, added to the pleasurable meal. The brunch was exquisite, and incredibly abundant for the $135 per person fee. It was definitely worth a lot more! My waitress was Anita, a beautiful and very sweet Dominican girl, assisted by the equally beautiful and charming Mariluz from Columbia. Their service was off the chain! Thank you ladies! I will return and request that you take care of me again. I have been to several other restaurants in the city for brunch, but this dining experience was beyond excellent! I highly recommend it. Pleasantly delighted! read more
