I like the food here. My wife and I have been twice. We like the crispy egg rolls and usually get those for our appetizers. We also have one of the Thai teas to drink. I really like the flan/custard too, but my wife kind of thinks that the caramel is overcooked. We've had the pho, shrimp fried rice, the beef and rice, and the Korean BBQ short ribs. The menu is pretty big with lots of items but they are mostly numerous variations on a couple types of different dishes. When it comes to the environment and atmosphere, it seems clean. The booths are painful with little padding and straight up backs, so I'm thinking about getting it to go next time. I'm not always a fan of the music, but it's usually pretty varied anyway. This restaurant was a nightmare. I should have known walking in that I should have walked out. It was a chaotic mess. I waited to sit down at a table they had to clear up (2 tables were cluttered with take out orders alone). Everyone waited long to either place a to go order, or to sit down. They were out of chicken pho, so I ordered beef pho. Food itself was average. My drink came several minutes later. People kept getting up from their tables to grab a paper towel roll next to the register since they had no napkins at their tables. Someone bumped into my back and spilled liquid on my hair and back; not even sure if it was water or what. Disgusting. I waited so long for my check, and looked around for any wait staff. Pretty damn good authentic Vietnamese food. It is a small joint and very crowed during weekend peak hours. I would avoid peak hours unless you like to wait awkwardly at the front door. I really liked this place - it reminded me of the Vietnamese food and places in Orange County, California. My husband and I came here while I was still pregnant. There was a line (well, a bunch of parties ahead of us) and one of the parties (a male) gave his booth to us! That was so nice of him, especially since I preferred sitting during that time of my pregnancy. Service was quick, food came out fast, and prices are affordable. It was my first time here. My friend and I had and early dinner on a Sunday night. I tried two beverages (because I was indecisive) and really liked the Tamarind juice. My husband has been raving about a Vietnamese dish called "Mì Qung" for months. I have never had it before. My brother in law told us there is a place in Dallas with it. We were in Dallas for the weekend and happened to be in the area. This was my chance to try this dish that my husband loves. When we got there, they were fairly busy. It is a small, quaint little mom and pop restaurant. We were able to get a table right away though... which was great because I am always hungry! We ordered egg rolls and two bowls of Mì Qung. The noodles have a yellow color which I believe gets the coloring from turmeric. I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never had it before and couldn't compare it to anything. It was pretty good. There was pork, squid, and shrimp with peanuts on top. There is also a black sesame rice cracker on the side that's delicious and reminds me of my childhood! The only thing I didn't like was that the bean sprouts were in the bowl instead of on the side. I am not a bean sprouts person..... And I should have asked if the beans sprouts would be in the bowl or on the side. That was my bad! The eggrolls were bomb-diggity! Parking in front of the store is limited but the overall shared parking lot is very spacious. La Me has indoor and outdoor seating. During rush hours, La Me gets really crowd with a waiting list. The restaurant is pretty small, so don't be shocked if your party has to share a long table with others. Food & Drink: Oh man! The food is amazing!!! My top choice is their banh beo! Oh my god. I don't know where to start. This place was AMAZING. UH-MAY-ZING. My boyfriend and I went with his parents. We were seated immediately at a cute little booth, and brought ice water and menus. We got the pork skin rolls as an appetizer, and they were so good. Crispy and fresh and delicious. For our entrees, I got the Pho and a Bun dish. My boyfriend got the Bun Cha Hanoi and his parents each got a Bun dish as well. I can not rave enough about this place. The noodles were perfect, the meat was perfect, the flavor was perfect... It's the best Viatnamese food I've ever had. Hands down. I will be recommending La Me to anyone with an affinity for Asian cuisine. Or even those without. What the vietnamese language lacks in beauty (don't try to act like you don't know what I'm talking about-If you have ever heard vietnamese spoken then you know it sounds like a car crash of drunk consonants), La Me more than makes up for the sounds of it's language with food that is melodious and delicious. As everyone has mentioned, the fried egg rolls are fantastic. I like the #84 which is a rice noodle plate including deep fried shrimp paste strips, rice sticks, chargrilled pork, and rice paper wrappers that you dip in water and then wrap your own rolls out of the aforementioned ingredients. It's served with a giant plate of fresh greens and veggies. The mint is especially good. The Hanoi noodle dish is also really nice. Prices for both of these are basically fast-food-esque. When you factor in how much delicious food you can get for so little money, you start to realize the reason the US lost the Vietnam war. If the vietnamese people can master food economics this well, then they were definitely capable of beating the hell out of a bunch of fast-food burger eating americans. Highly recommended. read more

I have been looking for a place for YEARS that has self service spring rolls made with grilled beef and all the sparkly and authentic Vietnamese sides. The last place I recall was Arc En Ciel but it closed many years ago. Using our GOOD FRIEND Mr. Yelp I found happiness times one million when I found La Me! This was the real deal with the rice-paper you soak in hot water and then GENTLY fill will char grilled steak and a plethora of vegetables and rice noodle (no s). The sides included mint, cilantro, carrot slice, cucumber slice and the GOOD, as Ina Garten says lettuce cups. All of this for $8.50 with tax and generous tip. Service was stellar and my water glass never went empty. Also there was no language barrier. The hallmark of the trusting service was when I discovered my debit card was in my car. I made a deal with the hostess that she can keep my Galaxy Note III if I do not return. Of course it only took a minute, but this is the service level you would expect at a five star restaurant. Proudly demonstrating Richardson's diverse culture most of the customers were Vietnamese which is a huge indicator the La Me is authentic. Finally - it was sparkling clean and the air conditioning was sheer bliss. I will be back in two days and would strongly recommend La Me to my family and friends. My family likes to stick to our usual rotation of 5 tried and true Vietnamese restaurants because they've had high standards for Vietnamese food (i.e. does this taste like it was made by someone I know or knew or remind me of an obscure memory??), and I can't figure out the scoring method, but I think this one has somehow passed the test and may possibly be added to the rotation, therefore the high rating. We came in on a Sunday afternoon (aka after the church crowd) and although the restaurant was incredibly busy, we were seated in less than 15 minutes. I saw some items that weren't very commonly found (mi quang, banh beo, etc.), but settled on the banh hoi. The nem nuong was great, but wasn't the best I've ever had, was a little bland. However, the thit nuong was pretty tasty! It was a struggle even trying to finish 3/4 of it, the portions were so large! I'll definitely come back next time and have the banh beo. I ordered the food to go and while i was waiting they even gave me a free Vietnamese ice tea. I tried the egg rolls, which were crunchy, buy somehow still melted in your mouth and had a great taste. After trying one on the way home, it was difficult to have some make it home to my family. I also tried one of their noodle soups. This one came with crab, shrimp, and bbq pork. Very tasty. What does THK stand for? Not sure. It's some form of shrimp though. I still ate it anyways. I like the egg roll wrapping. It's thin, crispy, and deep fried. Along with the vegetables, you can make delicious spring rolls with these. Another dish I recommend is the bo luc lac (shaking beef). It's one of the better ones in dallas. It just tastes good. Ask to substitute the rice for fried rice to make it even better! What I don't like is that they used to serve the cafe sua da (vietnamese iced coffee) w/ the dripper and a seperate glass of condensed milk. The restaurant is small and quaint - cafe style. Their banh mi & eggrolls are the best in Dallas. Plain and simple, this is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas. Sure, you might be able to find individual dishes done better or more authentic in other places, but as a whole, this is definitely one of the best places for Viet food. Noodle dishes of the dry and wet variety or the rice and egg variety are fantastic. Well cooked with great textures, fresh ingredients and wonderful broths. Of note, I love their pan fried flat rice noodle dishes as well. I personally love their rice dishes myself, from the com bo luc lac (which is the somewhat famous "Shaken Beef") to Korean styled short ribs to standard Viet marinated pork chops. The com ga roti and com ga xoi mo dishes are great if you love chicken. In addition to their great dishes, they brew some truly tasty coffees and mix some great blended fruit drinks. Their bang mi sandwiches are among my favorite in Dallas and well worth looking into. They also have some desserts and savory sticky rice dishes and pate chaud which they sell at the front of the restaurant as well. Service is always helpful, even if your Vietnamese is rusty ;) lol. The staff is pretty young, so everyone has a good grasp of English if you have questions. Seating gets limited during lunchtime on the weekends, but it's not too bad. read more

We had a party of eight for a bit of an informal multi-birthday celebration on a Saturday afternoon. All of us had eaten at practically-next-door Bistro B a number of times, but this was the first time at La Me for all but one of us. As we often do, we let our resident Vietnamese-American diner do the ordering so that there aren't any surprises. The first to arrive was a pot of hot tea, wonderful on a cold day. Soon after, we were presented with spring rolls, loaded with crunchy vegetables and a pork/shrimp mixture in tender, translucent rice wrappers. Next was a more traditional egg roll, but in a small size designed to be rolled into lettuce leaves. Both of these starters were delicious, and accompanying sauces were very flavorful, especially when augmented with sriracha and chile paste from the table, For my entree, I chose a beef dish with chile and lemongrass; it was quite good, but I wish there had been more meat. The meat that was present was very good, though, and me and my chopsticks made quick work of it. Rounding out the meal was a Vietnamese coffee, served very strong with the typical sweetened condensed milk for an intensely sweet, creamy yet potent caffeine kick. i keep hearing really good things about this place but i live far so haven't had the chance to try. i was finally in the area and decided to stop by. yelp says they open at 8am so i got here around 8:05am and there was only 1 person here, she told me kitchen wasn't opened. i waited until 8:50am and someone finally came to take my order. the staff didn't show up until 8:30am. so 50 mins after they're supposed to open, i ordered an appetizer and a noodle dish: nem nướng gỏi cuốn & bún mắm. they said bún mắm was their specialty but i beg to differ. it was terrible. i could tell by looking at the broth when they brought it out that it's terrible. i immediately regretted my decision just looking at it. and of course, one slurp of the soup and i was proven right. it's just salty, no fermented fish flavor that bún mắm suppose to have. the shrimp, squid, pork, and fish were all dry and old. the dipping sauce isn't even the right dipping sauce for nem nuong. i couldn't believe i waited nearly an hour for this. read more
