Crazy bad service!! The music is crazy loud and it took an hour just to order. As I write this review two hours later, no one at my table as received their order. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Crazy loud, horrible service, and super overrated. -- UPDATE: We received our food two hours and 45 minutes later after asking 3 TIMES for better service and the music to be turned down. I flat out got told that my opinion isn't worth turning down the music and sassed at. Also, the food was a variety of barely there, undercooked, and not worth near that long of a wait. TL;DR Food is ok but very inconsistent and the service is some of the worst I've ever had in Miami and that's saying something if you know how bad the service is in Miami in general. To the owners: this place has a ton of potential but the good food won't overshadow the service issues. I have a background in the restaurant industry and an operations background. I'm happy to offer some consulting free of charge to you in order to whip this place into shape. Feel free to reach out! Now onto the review: Stunningly, amazingly, excruciatingly awful service. To call it slow and disorganized would be a disgrace to the words. Clearly no management structure in place or even a manager at all. Actually ordering was nearly impossible as our server seemed both overwhelmed (they were clearly understaffed of servers) or completely incompetent. Probably mostly undertrained by the missing manager. No water refills, only partial alcohol refills, and clearly no systems in place. There was someone who seemed to be in the busboy role but we had to stop him on his 10th trip by to point out that the table was covered in empty plates. Again, management. Now as the food started coming out, which by the way came out in a totally random manner and several orders were wrong, I figured maybe the food would be the redeeming quality. The dishes at our table got mixed reviews and a few were genuinely good. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which the menu showed as having a slight siracha drizzle which sounded interesting. There was no drizzle, only a bit of maple syrup and the chicken was probably ok if it had been fresh but it felt it was a day old and the whole dish was cold. I was going to complain but the server? No where to be found for what seemed like an eternity until she came back to have the head of our party tell her that HALF the table was missing their food which by the way she was writing it down was clear she hadn't put it in in the first place. Then while I had stepped away from the table for a few minutes I came back and the most disgusting looking omelette was at my seat. Why was this here? No one, including the sever, could account for this. Maybe the food is good here or there but the service was so horrendous that I would never come back here. read more

The service is TERRIBLE. the servers give you attitude, the management give you attitude and takes HOURS for them to bring you anything. I wanted to love this place, the server was great but the manager was terrible. First, someone in our party got his food and saw that it was 80% grits and 20% vaca frita. He kindly asked if he could return his food and order something else because he didn't want so many grits. They refused. Didn't try to accommodate. Simply refused. Secondly, I was excited to visit especially bc it has two "vegetarian options." The menu had a coconut curry marisco and it said "ask about our vegetarian options" underneath. I asked and they said the option was veggie ratatouille. When I got my meal, it came with seafood. They tried to explain to me that seafood is vegetarian. It's not. They pointed me to the menu to say it says marisco but I pointed out that it says to ASK about vegetarian menu, which I did and was told something I didn't get. They ended up changing it, which I'm thankful about, but overall they should be more on top of what their doing and their menus...especially right when they opened! We were here 8/9/19. I hate doing negative reviews but I have to because the service here was completely unacceptable and hopefully this will help you guys improve the quality of service here. I mean seriously something has to change. I asked my husband if we could celebrate his mother's birthday here because of the Instagram posts they were sharing from their grand opening. Honestly it was a perfect example of how you should never believe everything you see on social media. My mother in law loves all things Cuban and this looked like the perfect spot. I saw a live band, dancers, and all in all the atmosphere looked amazing. (Through their posts). We were a party of 13. We arrived five minutes after 8 which was our scheduled reservation time. Everyone was pretty much on time. We saw the band set up and we realized after sitting there for 20 minutes that we hadn't been given menus, water or asked if we wanted anything. All the waitress did was put a little tray of soggy plantains. A few of our family members were tired of waiting and got themselves drinks from the bar. We ended up calling another waitress to please give us menus and water so she did and then when we finally received our menus and then our original waitress appeared. We asked our waitress if we could order drinks and she took all of our orders for drinks. When she came back she told us that since their grand opening was the day before they no longer had drinks in the bar. They only had sangria and mojitos. Luckily both the sangrias and the mojitos were super good. Now to order food. My husband and I weren't too hungry so we decided to share an order of the vaca frita with grits. When our order arrived the plate was vaca frita with grits and a layer of oil. The waitress left and didn't give me an extra plate so that I could separate the food so I had to use the plate that I had my appetizer on and I really didn't mind but come on. Where's the service? Everyone in our table had something to say about their food and honestly coming from us is a lot to say as we're usually very easy going. My sister in law order the veggie option and she was starving. She didn't receive her food until about 45 minutes after we all received our plates. We were all done eating by the time she received her plate. We all felt terrible she's a vegetarian and none of us were able to at least give her a little of our food. The nightmare continues.. we decided to also order dessert to sing happy birthday to my mother in law and surprisingly the dessert was good. But just one thing.... The waitress forgot to bring us plates and and spoons so that we could all eat the dessert. When we asked for plates and spoons the waitress told us they didn't have any that were clean. Clean?!?! I've never heard of this before. I almost walked into the kitchen to see if they needed help washing dishes because I didn't know whether to complain or help these people out. So we had to wait about 15 minutes maybe longer idk we all started to talk to pass time until we could receive plates and spoons. This was the pits. Honestly. And then to top it all off the band was out of tune. Yes- the band was out of tune. We were dying for the band to stop playing so that we could finally hear the music they play from the speakers instead. To finally end my venting session. I'm giving them two stars. One for the appearance. I loved the touch of details in all of the decor and a second star for the dessert. It was absolutely delicious. Seriously guys try to organize yourselves better. A two man band played classic salsa tunes that got the crowded singing and dancing. Food was very good, ordered the sampler and tostones with churrasco (which was very well seasoned and soft). Wow! Came in to this new restaurant in my neighborhood, La Mesa Miami. We had tamal w carne puerco (pork meat & tamal), tuna tartare, croquetas de jamón ( ham croquetes) and the three had outstanding tastes. My hubby had the hígado Italiana (Italian liver) with mash potatoes and salad. He said it was very well seasoned and good. Had a coffee desert," El Bonbon," so good. My husband had a delicious desert "bienmesabe," and my mom had a flan that was great. The service was friendly and very professional. The decor is so neat, there is music videos playing, and a full bar. We were told there is happy hour every day. Also there will be live music soon. The grand opening is August 1st. Highly recommend. Met the owner and congratulated him so far. Success to this new endeavor! read more

This is honestly one of the worse places i've ever been. The food was okay for the most part at least from what I heard from others because the plate that I ordered never got to me. This place has a lot of potential but the AWFUL service is something that really makes me want to personally close this place down. All of the staff have the same disgusting attitude & will not try to help you or try to make your visit more pleasant. I rather go eat at a Mcdonald's and spend less money than in this gutter. Was incredibly disappointed by La Mesa Miami's food and service. Visited them for the first time on a Friday around 8PM (I'm actually writing this review while sitting in their parking lot) and upon opening the door I was throat punched by the thick scent of cologne. I can actually still taste it, 2 hrs later. The hostess was polite, exclusively spoke in spanish (I can understand it but am not great at talking it.) I chose my seat and the atmosphere (beside the actual smell) was rather nice. Though I was surprised to see the club lights twirling around this early, especially since the music didn't match that vibe (the smell definitely did!). Some lounge chairs, high tops, standard tables, and of course bar seating, elevated dj booth and plenty of space to dance when the night roared on. The staff were cuddled in a 'gossip ball' by the bar, didn't take long to take my order but didn't check on me until I was ready to pay. My first time at any place, I always order a simple drink and calamari when it's on the menu. My gin and tonic was great, the cucumber was a great twist and the lime a classic; beautifully balanced. Sadly the calamari was fresh out of the freezer and "fried" in the oven. Each calamri ring was eerily uniform in size, and evenly breaded, but not crispy or even dashed with salt. The bland calamari was served with Kraft's chipotle aioli, a staple in my kitchen but didn't pair with the simple dish like a sweet chili sauce would've. The dish was garnished with parsley. The tab for these 2 items came to $41.91. G&T was $12 and the calamri, $21 throw in tax and a $6.60 service charge but the receipt was sure to tell the payer in emboldened caps that "TIP IS ADDITIONAL !" The valet out front ($10 for vip), the menu selection, and prices, set a standard, that for me, were not met by my experience. Though I did not see beer on tap, La Mesa is probably better a bit later in the evening when the dancing kicks off. But if you are looking for a delicious dinner that matches the price tag, keep looking. read more

The food was very good. The service was okay. We sat there for a while with our menus before anyone came to take our drink orders. Since we went early, the restaurant was relatively empty. Great place to celebrate your Birthday. They take reservations for larger parties. Really good DJ @flippercubanito and the live music was great. Really loud so sit towards the entrance away from the stage. People dance next to their tables or up by the stage area. Leather chairs are comfortable although the high top chairs are not comfortable. Open till 3am. Bar area is really nice. Made friends with the Birthday girl in the next table, new Mama!! Had a blast. My friend has been visiting this restaurant since their grand opening, she insisted in visiting so finally after weeks I gave in and said we should visit. Ambiance wise, the place was amazing. Live music, a very nice setting with backgrounds very instagram worthy, kind of feels like I'm in the brickell/wynwood area while I'm really minutes away from my house. The food, was outstanding with great flavor. The plates are very decent sizes, if you have a small appetite sharing is ideal. Everything was amazing but, the waitress ruined what seemed to be an amazing dinner with a friend. She was completely rude, overcharged our tab and refused to help and got aggressive by proceeding getting in my friends face and loudly saying "que tú quieres que yo haga?" (What do you want me to do for my English speakers) thankfully, when I demanded to speak to a manager which she didn't get, I noticed a man standing by, Ricardo, who was extremely baffled to hear what his staff had just done and continued to say some changes will be done in the business because they don't tolerate that kind of behavior. If it wouldn't have been for the way Ricardo treated my friend and I, this place would've left a bad taste on my mouth and a 1 star. Thank you Ricardo for your service and I hope my next visit runs a little differently with more cordial and pleasant costumer service as a restaurant with such caliber should have. read more

I really wanted to love this place since I truly feel the area needs a cute spot like this, but it was extremely disappointing. We went for brunch today at 11 am. My friend arrived before us and asked to be seated. The entire place was empty but for one table and they told her to hold on. 10 minutes later when I arrived they still had not seated her. Once we sat, a good 25-30 minutes passed before anyone even looked in our direction. My friend had to actually get up and ask someone to please come take our drink order. Mind you there were 3 servers behind an empty bar talking to each other and 3 other employees just running around looking lost and not knowing what to do. We finally had someone come take our drink order but when we asked about drinks, she had no idea what drinks were available for brunch. When she came back with my drink, the third person in our party arrived and she ordered a Bloody Mary. The waitress didn't know what that was and had to get someone else to verify what we ordered. We asked her not to walk away so we could order food since we had now been there 35 minutes and still hadn't ordered anything. She started walking away anyway and we simply asked her nicely to please stay and take our food order. We explained that we were frustrated as we had been there for over 30 minutes. She told us "but I just got to work right now" kind of saying, it isn't my fault. (She was not the server that took our original drink order). I will say she was pretty attentive once she was assigned our table but the initial impression was already made. We ordered the Yuca Reloaded, the Breakfast BLT Sliders, The Cuban Aguacate Toast & the Benedict Tostones. The Yuca Reloaded was terrible . . . The egg wasn't cooked properly, the Pico de Gallo tasted horrible, the steak was over cooked and the Yuca fries were ok. the Breakfast BLT Sliders were soggy and left a lot to be desired. The Cuban Aguacate Toast was bland and unimpressive. Lastly, the Benedict Tostones were just ok. The only thing that was really on point was the Cafecito. Overall, the food was meh. They did a great job with the decor and it is clearly cute & very "Instagramable" but the food and the service are just not up to par. The employees seem like they are not well trained and don't have their bearings yet. They really need to get it together if they want people to return. I love music and the music was on point BUT it shouldn't be so loud at brunch that you can't even hear the person sitting next to you. They should also have their menus online prior to opening. I messaged their Instagram asking a question about the menu and no one even answered me. Overall, it was a very mediocre experience. I hope they get it together. read more

Now to the food... I had the churrasco with Moro and sweet plantains, very tasty. My husband had the masitas with moro and fried yuca also very tasty and great portions.
