But this spot, that's right on A1A, you walk up to the bar through sand, while outside looking at the distant waves. We were doing a random walk after brunch in Delray last weekend and with little more than a look at each other we decided to have a beverage at Sandbar. The service was quick and solid. We had a couple of solid drinks, each. After that though we continued our walk, pleasantly perked up. There are better beach bars for sure,, but not in the Delray beach area. If you wanna smell the salt air and drink a rum drink with tunes, this is the spot.

Beer placards affixed to the walls with an out of place five foot tall orange gorilla holding a huge bottle of Dom Perignon over his head. No reservations permitted but got seated immediately. This is the place to go for a cheap happy hour and big hamburgers. Ordered the Big Smokey Bacon Burger with well done onion rings. I must say, the burger was absolutely delicious and the cold craft beer complemented it perfectly. The gender neutral bathroom was clean and fit the dive bar mold with an array of stickers covering the paper towel dispensor with black chalk boards wrapped around the walls. Lots of strange chalk designs but could not find the piece of chalk to leave my mark. For some odd reason half the toilet paper case was on the floor. The gray porcelain floor and wall tiles gave the shabby room a modern twist. Fun place with great burgers and an attitude.

The smoke house burger was drowning in a blue cheese sauce, literally swimming on the plate, no onions and old rubbery bacon. The standard froze fries spread around the remainder of the plate. He also allowed me to film the making of my drink. Rum is my poison, and to that I enjoyed their smoked "Monkey Business". Cocktail was nicely presented, well blended, and adequate. It made for great afternoon sipping. Our group was not rushed out either. Towards I guess what would be the end of the afternoon, Mexican tea aka tequila green tea shots were called for and enjoyed by our group. Some of my friends tried food, and it did look appetizing. However, I didn't try. As it mentioned, it's located right on Atlantic Avenue and on the way to the beach. I can see myself stopping by again.

Opened in June 2025, Roka Hula is a modern Asian tiki bar and restaurant created by True Grit Hospitality Group. The Delray Beach location is an expanded version of their original Orlando speakeasy concept and it took over the former Taverna Opa space. I absolutely loved the decor. Cherry blossoms drip from the every part of the ceiling, You are surrounded by carved wood, animal print accents, dark woods, and Polynesian inspired details. The whole space gives you a classic tiki bar, 1970's style vibe. I'm a big fan of the tiki bar concept, so this place was right up my alley. I started with a Kinky Kitty, made with Tito's, Yuzu, Raspberry, Lychee, and lemon. It was a fruity and refreshing cocktail. The bartenders were friendly and energetic. When a round of Mexican Tea shots was recommended, we couldn't refuse. We all enjoyed the easy to drink shot. With great drinks, fun decor, and good friends, Roka Hula was the perfect spot to continue the celebration. Banana Boat -- Boynton Beach (3 stars) Surf & Turf Nachos…read more-- $21 -- "The Mirage Nacho" I only review nachos. That's the whole thing. So I can't tell you about the waterfront, the 40-plus years Banana Boat's been serving Boynton, or the rest of the menu, which, for the record, looked legitimate. I'm here for one plate. The Surf & Turf Nacho sounds incredible on the menu. Filet mignon and shrimp. That's how they get you to $21, and I paid it. Here's what showed up. The filet retired its number after only a few appearances. On a $21 surf-and-turf nacho, the turf scored early and then vanished like a witness in a mob movie. The shrimp came in bigger numbers but arrived whole and uncut, and nobody in that kitchen asked the one question that matters: how does a whole shrimp sit on a nacho chip? It doesn't. It sits on top looking decorative while the chip underneath has an identity crisis. And where would this be without mentioning my old nemesis. Beans. They don't belong on nachos. Ever. If you're using them, you're just trying to make the plate bigger. Maybe you need a big lifted truck too. This isn't a surf-and-turf nacho. It's a nice thought. A dish designed to impress on paper, justify a price, and get photographed; Not to really be eaten as a nacho. It was also a small portion overall. I finished it, but that's not the achievement it sounds like. Finishing a $21 nacho because there wasn't much of it is not a win. It's literally the complaint. Credit where it's due, because I'm not here just to swing: * The queso was actually melted. After a long run of unmelted shredded-cheese disasters around here, that matters. * The guacamole was generous and well made. * It arrived hot, eight minutes out. That counts. * The flavor was genuinely decent. Everything present tasted fine. The problem was what was present, and how little of it there was. The Fork Rule was violated immediately. Our waitresses Elena and McKenzie were fantastic. We ordered a cheese board, fish tacos, and a salad. Overall the food was pretty good. What made this place a real vibe for me was the wonderful staff, they were very quick and attentive and my friends felt like VIPs, it was a great experience overall looking forward to going back for date night or brunch.
