I waited for about ten minutes and was asked to follow a nurse to a small room to do several eye tests. She returned me to the waiting room which was attached to their eyeglass area with lots of frame options. Dr. Morgan came out and got me and escorted me to an exam room. He went through the normal battery of tests. He asked lots of questions and was straightforward with information which I appreciated. How does that make sense? My vision is complicated, and continuity of care matters. I understand having policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable judgment. This experience made it feel like collecting a fee was more important than patient care. After 35 years with a doctor who truly cared about his patients, this was incredibly disappointing.

I then had about 10 minutes with the actual doctor who talked me through my results and his diagnosis. Very little waiting involved. I then went to the glasses area where a person explained to me what my insurance covers and what will be out of pocket. I'm assuming they were reasonable prices, but I really don't have a clue. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that I felt like cattle being herded from one place to the next. It wasn't bad, but it just felt very sterile. It would have been nice to have had at least a cursory conversation as I picked out frames just to bounce ideas off of.

Dr. Giles is the best Optometrist I have ever seen. I have myopia and severe astigmatism and have…read morenever had 20/20 vision. I've been to many optometrists my whole life and they have all gotten me to a "good enough" place. Dr. Giles took the extra extra time and did a very thorough exam. (he has the latest equipment and technology that I've never seen before) He gave me a new prescription that had me seeing 20/20, and some exercises to improve my focus, because that is the main area that I have an issue with. None of the optometrists that I've seen in the past ever explained my problems to me and gave me solutions. He also specializes in vision therapy and is one of very few in San Diego trained in this specialty. I highly recommend him and this practice. The parking is great, there is a spot labeled "Gilles" for you to park, he's on the second floor. Easy to find with elevators as well. TL;DR: If you're looking for a new optometrist or need a second opinion, Dr. Giles is the best. I'm looking forward to my follow up in 2 weeks to see how much my vision improves after the exercises!
