Went through all the flavors with me and my family. i wanted dessert so theres plenty of refreshing healthy popsicles on a stick. you can view them all but none of them are labeled so the lady helped us. theres a non-dairy section for us lactose intolerant folks. i got the coconut popsicle with real coconut flakes. my mom got the strawberry popsicle with real cut up strawberry chunks. my friend got almond tequila popsicle and my dad got coffee icecream. i tasted the passion fruit juice. sweet but good. they also have mexcian food there. read more

I had the ice cream here, which comes in three sizes: big, bigger and biggest. They also make homemade paletas, or popsicles; I picked up a strawberry one for my wife. As a self-described ice cream fanatic, I have to say that I am beyond impressed by the quality of the custard that goes into the ice cream. Perfect texture and creaminess, for the amount of cajeta they put in... and it was a TON. The cajeta was sweet, brown and still tasted of the milk that it came from. Better than most caramel syrups I've ever had, homemade or otherwise. In addition, the paleta was not so sweet (good thing), but very creamy and made with fresh fruit. They have a ferrero rocher one (I think) that I'm definitely going to get next time. If you're in the northwest suburbs, this is the place to go for great homemade ice cream. Absolutely amazing. My personal favorite was the mangonada with a tamarind stick and the Farrero Rocher. First time visiting La Michoacana. My only experience with paletas (frozen fruit bars or ice cream bars) prior to coming here has been with the paletas guys pushing the carts around in Chicago or from the freezer cases at the ethnic grocery stores. Those were always good so I was excited to hear about a place that was all about the paletas. FOOD: It's all about the paletas here. Two large freezer cases full of colorful stacks of paletas. There were so many choices. And everything looked so good. There were several fruit bars with whole fruit pieces as well as cream based pops such as butter pecan and cookies and cream. I was drawn to the the Ferrero Roche bar and was very satisfied. Lots of chopped hazelnuts and the Popsicle stick itself was covered in Nutella so it made it like a Nutella center of the bar. We also tried the watermelon paleta which was very refreshing. Almost like eating frozen watermelon! Besides the paletas, they ask have two freezer case of ice cream that also looked very good. I'll definitely be back to try it. They also had a few food items such as elotes but the main items here are the ice cream and paletas. SERVICE: as some other reviews have mentioned, most of the workers there don't speak English. However, there was a very nice lady who did speak English and was very helpful in pointing out different flavors (since the paletas were not labeled). I came here with colleagues during a business meeting in Illinois. This place was packed and after I tried the Paletas (Popsicles) everything made sense. Ice cream here is everything but ordinary. The variety of flavors is incredible which makes it overwhelming for me but excellent for big crowds because everyone will be pleased. I started my Michoacana journey with the mangonada. If you like your fruit covered with fruit seasoning you will love the mangonada. If you do not I recommend you try the tiramisu or kiwi/strawberry Popsicle which were among the favorites of those in my group. I then had the tamarind paleta. Why does this place only have 12 reviews? Either the clientele is not on Yelp OR it's only been open for a week. The popsicles are ridiculous and come in pretty much every flavor you can imagine. They also add a unique touch to each popsicle that make them very unique. The mango paleta (popsicle) has a dried mango stuck to the side. The ferrero rocher paleta has an actual piece of the chocolate at the base. The popsicles with cream in them strike an amazing balance between popsicle and ice cream that I've never seen before. This place is amazing! It was 30 minutes before closing and there was still a line, but the line goes quick. Besides it was our first time so it have it plenty of time to decide what we wanted. There's a new store on N. Lewis in Waukegan, and my husband and I stop there at least once a week. Really good and interesting ice cream flavors, plus items like yogurt and fruit (Botanicos), Popsicles and paletas, which are mostly frozen fruit on a stick in Popsicle form, terrific in the summer or the winter.
