Haven't seen a Michoacana since I was in Mexico and I found one in Chicago while visiting town!!!! I loved it!! I had their "Fresas con Crema", "Mangonada", and a couple pop cycles (mango con chile and Chocolate Abuelita) they were soooooo delicious! I have to come back in town to get some more ice cream. Me encantó! Se los recomiendo!

First time coming to this location. They had 3 ladies working here that were nice. But I gotta say everyone who comes here order a lot. It took me 20min to get my order in. Guess there are lots of things to choose from and everyone trying to eat everything. I got 2 popsicles (Oreo and raspberry), and my boyfriend got a mocha shake and a pina colada yogurt/ smoothie. I've never tried anything else other than the popsicles. But I gotta say, if you are feeling a shake or yogurt and happen to see a La Michoacana, stop by and grab one from here. Other than drinks and popsicles, they have ice cream, chips, and actual food. So even if you not feeling dessert or sweet things, they have a wide selection of sweet and savory foods to choose from. I would definitely come back again, but not sure if I'm tight on time.

I love this place!! If I could, I would go here everyday! :D I expected a small ice cream shop with a small random assortment of popsicles but it's a BIG ice cream shop with LOTS of random assortments of everything. They have paletas (popsicles?), smoothies, milkshakes, and best of all, ELOTES. I found it super random that they sell this but it's one of the best I've had. I love that they are so generous with the portions compared to other places. I highly recommend their ferrero rocher paleta. It's the most chocolate-y, most amazing thing ever. I've tried their avocado and pistachio which are also very good. Don't forget their elote! Must get it with everything (mayo, cheese and don't forget the chili powder--make it's super spicy but so good!) It takes awhile to decide what to get bc of the variety of options but this place is seriously the best!

i had been craving a mangonada for months since i left mexico and got my fill. They also have soo many flavors of paletas including mangonada and coconut.

Always love La Michoacana, they have an infinite amount of different kinds of Mexican ice scream and other snacks. This place was supper busy but they took care of is kind of fast. This time we had a banana split to share. It was big enough to share.

Note: there are actually two different La Michoacana's in Chicago and greater Chicago area. There is a La Michoacana with a logo that has a girl and says "Es Natural" on it (this location), and a La Michoacana with that doesn't have this logo (like Prospect Heights location). The ones with the "Es Natural" logos are significantly better and give bigger portion sizes compared to the others. This franchise is underrated. I'm a huge fan of ice cream shops in and around Chicago but yesterday was the first time I heard about this place. At first, I thought this was the only location, but I was wrong. They are ALL over Chicago and the greater area, and they might actually have more locations then Oberweis. $3.80 for a big cone with 3-4 scoops. The ice cream is delicious. I got the oreo flavor and they have HUGE chunks of oreos in there. They have oreo bar ice creams too and all sorts of fruit bars. My friend got the ferreo rocher (however you spell it) and he loved it. At Baskin Robbins, you get two small scoops for about $4. So I will probably never go to BR again. The crazy part is, they seem to be famous for the other things they offer. I don't know the names of them as they label everything in spanish but they look good! The line was very long when we came and there is barely any dining space. So we ate in our car. The line does move a little slower then other ice cream shops I've been too, but then again, some people had pretty big orders. I'm a huge fan, will probably start exploring other locations. (FYI: there is one in Edgewater, Pilsen, and Des Plaines)

Outside the restaurant looks very unassuming, inside says a whole different story. The inside is nice and bright with comfortable seating, lots of space, and the larger tables had the trusty Lazy Susan in middle so everyone could enjoy all the dishes without passing. We were warmly welcomed right away. It was colder Thursday so it wasn't too busy. The servers were all friendly and attentive, and I'm imagining they're the same on a busy day. It is a small family business (including their child sitting at a table watching his cartoons while munching on noodles) which brings a nice level of coziness and attentiveness. The music was playing softly, just enough that we could hear it and yet not so loud we couldn't hear each other. We ordered quite a few dishes. Egg rolls - crispy and well filled with ingredients. Sweet & sour sauce was the packets. Pot stickers - very good, the dipping sauce was an excellent accompaniment Fried shrimp - kinda reminded me of the fried shrimp in a box, but it was still good. Chicken fried rice - definitely can taste the yummy "wok hei" to it which makes restaurant fried rice so delicious. There were a generous amount of chicken, not overly cooked with just enough bean sprouts to give it a nice texture crunch. I would come back just to order this again! Beef chow mein with pan fried noodles - the noodles were perfectly crispy while there was enough sauce to coat the rest of the noodles creating a nice well balanced dish. Lots of tender beef and vegetables. Triple delight in a bird nest bowl - this is a nice pretty dish with a good assortment of proteins. The chicken was velvety, shrimp was plump, and the beef was tender. The outside edible "bird's nest" shell as good, though I'm not sure if it was freshly fried that moment. Plain fish filet is very fresh! This was one of the favorites for all 6 of us. It came with just enough vegetables to give the dish color, but not be a filler. There was a lot of fish to our order. Shrimp with honey walnut - probably the 2nd favorites. The shrimps were large and well cooked with a nice crunch, the sauce was just sweet enough but not overly drenched. The walnuts were fresh and crunchy creating a nice harmony in a bite. Beef brisket bowl - my personal favorite! The beef brisket was so tender and juicy! I could have just eaten this dish with a big bowl of rice. It arrived at the table bubbling hot, the bean curd (tofu) pieces were soft and tender, not overcooked and mushy. The flavors blended together with a nice saucy gravy. Yum! Mixed vegetables - not our most favorite. Although there was a nice assortment of vegetables, the sauce was kind of thick and took away from the idea of having "healthy veggies." Our meal ended with fortune cookies and almond cookies. Everything was plentiful and we have leftovers for a couple of days. The portions were definitely generous. The service was top notch. Our tea was refilled and long with our water without us asking. The rice was freshly cooked, soft and fluffy jasmine rice. Next time I want to try the ramen and a few other dishes like the salt and pepper shrimp. We wanted lobster, but it's a preorder item so it would be fresh. I completely understand that they want to make sure everything served is the freshest possible so next time we will call and preorder the lobster 24 hours before dining.
