Okay I haven't gone here in awhile so I decided to get a breakfast burrito with no rice or beans. But you can clearly see rice and beans. Like cmon man. Imagine getting thos if it got deserved but I picked this up. I am truly upset because I am not a fan of beans. I love this spot. Its right next to where I live. Also you can't beat the prices. Their tacos are $1.25(small street tacos) and I get those every time. Their taste is consistent. They always get to you right away when you walk up to their counter. I always get the same thing. I get 3 al pastor tacos and 1 asada torta. It comes out to less than $13. Can't beat that. I had a craving for Mexican food so when my son asked for the Hawaiian bbq two doors down I thought I would get a to-go order from this place. I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 2 beef tacos. Did I just order a burrito for breakfast? Why not! I've been to this establishment many times over the years and their food has always been pretty good. Massive burritos and affordable pricing make this place a staple when cash is short. Today however, I was not impressed. I came in at 8:15 am- food should be fresh and warm- it's the start of the day! My burrito was cold and filled with mostly fillers like lettuce and rice. There was very little Asada to be found and no sour cream or guacamole either! I'm really really sad! What's going on Reno? Our Mexican restaurants are really lacking. Now I'm stuck with a pound of burrito that's likely just going to waste away in my fridge. :( If anyone has a suggestion on a good Mexican spot here in town, let me know please. First off thank you Alejandro for being so kind and patient with my whole team trying to place an order with little to no heads up! We couldn't find any other place in a close proximity to fulfill an order this big. Alejandro said absolutely yes with no hesitation. We ordered buffet style taco bar and it was great! The only hiccup was they forgot to give my drivers the tortillas. Lol at this point we just laughed and made the best out of the situation. We called the restaurant and they were so sorry. We ran back and they had them ready. Nicely packed individually! We ordered only carne asada meat which was very good! We had enough meat for 2nds and even 3rds! Terrible food and service. There was literally one lady taking orders and bringing them out. While they got our food quick since it wasn't busy and the proportions are very generous, the food itself was terrible. Nachos with toppings was fine nothing great. Gaucomole could have been better. It was ok just because you can't ruin it further. The burrito on the other hand was just plain cold and filled with 75% lettuce. They even put lettuce with Nachos, gauc and salsa. My guess is they are either trying to cheap out by filling everything with lettuce or they just ran out of ingredients. I still think they could have atleast served the food hot. Even the pineapple drink was just meh. Expected better Agua fresca from a Mexican restaurant. I have eaten at Michoacana for over ten years and always liked it. It isn't fancy or the best but I always liked it and had a nice time dining there. The owner and staff are really great. However, in the last couple of months I have found that the food and service is not the same. I will stop dining there since on two recent visits the food didn't look the same and was lukewarm. Yesterday it took 25 minutes to get five tacos out and the restaurant was not busy at all. Instead of going to Michoacana I will go to Beto's where the food quality is excellent. What I love about this place is that it's open 24/7!! It's located in the same shopping center as L&L, Big 5, and Olive Garden. I was doing some overtime at work on South Virginia, and I was craving tacos. It was midnight, so I wasn't sure what was gonna be open, but thanks to a quick search on Yelp, I found this gem! I noticed that I passed by this place a lot, just never tried it! Inside was pretty decent, there were a couple customers there. The dining room is very spacious, with plenty of booths and even a little area for arcade games! They have a simple menu, but many options. I got the buche, carnitas, and tripe tacos and they were pretty good! Not the best in town, but decent. They have a great salsa bar also with green and red salsa and side dishes. Maybe I went at a bad time, but the food and service were substandard. I asked for a burrito. They gave me what resembled an oversized taco wrapped on a tortilla. It was dry, it lack sauce, and the vegetables were reduced to onion and cilantro. The lady at the counter was not friendly. I went in because McDonald's doesn't have a lobby opened, and now I will just wait until their lobby is open. I won't, however, go to La Michoacana ever again. read more

Alright reno, don't sleep on this place ! I just ate breakfast here, Machaca Plate, and this is the real deal authentic stuff ! Great tasting and inexpensive ! Placed an order for pick up, when I arrived 20 minutes later they had not even started. I ordered a veggie burrito with no lettuce and what I got was a lettuce burrito with little other ingredients. It was cold, wet, and not appetizing at all. The menu said it came with beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and hot sauce. There is no cilantro, no guacamole, no onions, and no hot sauce! It's missing al the ingredients I want and full of the one ingredient I asked to withhold! This place has lost its flavor. I've called a bunch of times to see if they have a dish o was craving and no one answered.... I get the dreaded " this person has a mailbox that has not been setup yet" message after numerous rings. I get off work and thought let me swing by and see. I asked the owner about the phone number and her reply was " I only answer when I don't have customers here". They didn't have what I was craving so I ordered something else, an order of beef enchiladas and a cocktail de camaron. Once I got home I started with the cocktail de camaron only to find 3 shrimp in a large order. Then the beef enchiladas were cheese only after I ordered beef. I've been stopping by here after work for the past several weeks after a few friends introduced me to this place for an after-night-shift end-of-week breakfast taco. It's on the way back home and is quicker than fast food, so I've become a regular here. I'll mention the dishes that probably aren't ordered or reviewed as often, so here goes. Goat Meat Soup. I forget what it's called, but the broth is amazing... I had a little more cartilage and bone than I would have liked, but otherwise was a delicious offering. The flavoring was fairly complex and tasted like it was slow cooked over a decent period of time. I will be buying this again. Shrimp Soup. I forget what this is called as well, but it had plenty of shrimp, a few sliced cobs of corn and mini potatoes and was great! Again, a nice slow cooked complex flavor... everyone should try this one at least once. I usually just get the street tacos at $1.50 each... Most places I usually order Carnitas, but here, they don't seem to be slightly crispy at all so their fried pork isn't my favorite. What I do love is their Asada and Pastor... which I usually get 2 each when I'm passing by. At some point I'll be trying the rellenos and other dishes, but so far the cravings for tacos and soups can't be denied. The place does look a bit worn, and might not be the best place to bring guests to... but for friends having a nice meal together, it's inexpensive and the food is always excellent, any time of day and especially late night or in the early morning, which is why I keep stopping here. So this is a good down home Mexican restaurant with a HUGE calling card! We ate here today and I ordered my $8 burrito and thought...well that might be a bit high but the place smells good. And I was majorly hungry and ordered a nachos to split with the other half too. The Horchata came first and was a dream! Some caramel something to it I think but it was the best horchata I have tried. We noticed that the carpet needed help but overall the place was clean and there was both Mexican fare in the music and a sports channel going in English and I thought it was great that there seemed to be some consideration for everyone. The place is also huge and there was no shortage of seating. The service was friendly though they were out of tamales...This happens a lot in Reno...If you want tamales go early in the day! Then my burrito came...WOW! This is that calling card I was talking about. Carne Asada and it was about 2 feet long. Biggest burrito in town lol! I have always thought that if you want to be a huge success here you need to have 1 thing that you do amazingly above all the competition. A 2 foot burrito is definitely a reason to drive.
