Waffle cone with a scoop of eggnog and Cookie Monster
    Amy M.

I could get into so much trouble here!!!! There are so many paleta flavors, and a ton of ice cream flavors too! They also have tortas, smoothies, juices, elote, fruit salads... I wanted to try one of EVERYTHING, but settled for a cappuccino paleta for me, and my little one wanted a Cookie Monster scoop, a eggnog scoop, and a waffle cone. The paleta was SOOOOOO good. It was creamy and flavorful and amazing. They have water-based, cream based, fruit ones, it was so hard to choose! The ice cream was also so flavorful, the eggnog was spiced and delicious and so creamy. The Cookie Monster was also delicious, my daughter loved them (yes, together... must be an acquired taste...) It is a lovely little shop, super clean and with a HUGE case of ice creams. The young man working was so helpful and patient and polite as we gawked and debated which flavors to try. I'm literally sitting here wondering what else I can order. This place is DELICIOUS!

Very yummy. Neat texture. A little denser, than other ice cream shops, but no weird aftertaste or thirst like some other ice creams.

A cute little spot in a strip mall. Very easy to get to. The menu is extensive! Lots of treats and snacks I would love to explore more, but I just wanted ice cream this time. What a huge selection! And awesome flavors you don't find just anywhere...rice, passion fruit (seeds included), dulce de leche, soursop, to name a few. Very generous portion for a very reasonable price! 3 large scoops was just over $5, and definitely shareable. Had to get chocolate, then a Mexican cookie flavor (gallaton?), then a fun blue one with crunchy chunks (sorry, forgot the name...but it was fun!). Our server was so nice and friendly. She took the time to answer our questions about the various flavors and let us try as many as we wanted. A sweet experience, for sure!

Found this gem when my boyfriend was showing me around Ramona, now every time I come up here I always have to stop at la michoacana for a little treat so yeah, this review is overdue ! Also, one thing I have to mention, is how great the service is here, it feels like home. everyone here is lovely ! Today I had the chicharrón preparado and a strawberry/lime agua fresca, and they were both amazing ! Other times I've visited, I get agua de fresa, banana or try their various ice cream flavors ! (gansito & chocolate abuelita are my favorite). So if you have a sweet tooth or like spicy or non spicy, just come here, they have plenty of options with lots of flavor !

My order was done so quickly! I think this place is just a big secret because it wasn't too crowded. I ordered grilled tofu in the vegetarian spring rolls. Two orders, one for today I'm getting so hungry talking about them! 2 rice paper rolls stuffed with grilled tofu, lettuce, fresh mint bean sprouts & vermicelli noodles. This photo does not do it justice! Served with peanut sauce. So good - everything is so absolutely fresh - crispy vegetables. And the Stir fried egg noodle dish -crispy - OMG! I wasn't prepared for the "bird nest" noodles but was so wonderfully surprised (they need to put bird's nest noodles and more people would buy it - came with a bright tasting brown vegetarian sauce and amazing with the -vegetables and grilled tofu - (I ordered it that way). I did not touch the color on the photo. This was such a luxurious meal. So, they have a Buddha and what most people know who know Buddhists and their restaurants --Buddhist who own restaurants know how to cook fresh and keep everything clean - and they will not cheat you. It becomes giving you an amazing experience because it's really to honor Buddha - to make you happy. I mean, I wish all restaurants were owned by Buddhists. So don't be all weird when you see the Buddha out front. Seriously. Having spent a lot of time in fantastic Asia and India - the restaurants - this is very comparable. With everything going on right now in the fields and vegetable rotting in the dirt because of ICE raids, they have sourced their venders with care and can offer amazingly FRESH vegetables. Usually when I comment about vegetables in my reviews, it's to only describe them as, Meh. Not this place!!! Looks like a great date location. It's only 20 minutes from Poway. And a world away from Pho Ca Dao in Poway that NEVER gets my order right, not only not-right, you pick it up and you're paying for something more expensive - that you don't want That place is so wrong. This place is a keeper! Finding this place was like that moment when you hear angels singing aaaaaahhhhhhh I ordered take-out, but this will be one of mine and my husband's weekend places now. The interior is lovely and immaculately clean. Looks comfy - and the place is huge. Has outdoor seating.

They obviously don't care about there customers in addition the bathrooms did were very dirty and dated and also had no hand washing soap. The spice level was just right, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed a small salad and a couple of spring rolls, both served with a tasty vinaigrette in a charming ramekin. The manager's attentive service was exceptional, as they checked in to ensure my complete satisfaction, reminiscent of a top-notch car dealership experience. [TL;DR: Served inedible food I did not eat, charged in full, zero attempt to make it right.]…read more I very rarely leave negative reviews and don't nitpick or blast places over small issues - and you can check my other reviews to verify that. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.

Then look no further than Ramona Cafe in Downtown Ramona and park in the back for free or on the street, and get ready to eat! I ordered a pepsi (soda has free refills), chicken fried steak with over easy eggs that came with a biscuit with butter, and the famous cinnamon roll for my complete lunch (breakfast is served all day). The chicken fried steak tasted more like a sausage patty than ground beef, but the server assured me that it was made of beef and that the gravy is made of pork sausage. I had hash browns (shredded potatoes) versus the home fries (diced potatoes) and topped it with ketchup and Tapatio. The biscuit was warm and soft, but the bread that was worth coming to this diner was the Cinnamon Roll, it had a burst of cinnamon in every bite, wish it had a bit more sugar and frosting, but it was delicious nonetheless. I took a photo next to the framed autograph poster of Guy Fieri and was happy to give this diner a try due to Ramona Cafe being featured on this popular show. So if you want American Diner style food in the city of Ramona, then make a pit stop at Ramona Cafe and order the cinnamon roll, and roll out of there!
