I have heard about this place and passed it many many times in the last year and finally decided to stop in last night for dinner with my son. I will be back back next week . 10/10. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great, music wasn't too loud but enough that it wasn't silent in there. Staff was friendly and attentive and they clearly know what their doing. Now the food, the FOOD. Best wings I've had in a very long time. So fresh and fall off the bone. I will be coming back for wing Wednesday! I ordered the steak frites and my son got the kids Mac n Cheese. Steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the Demi glaze was delicious. His Mac n cheese was a top contender. I was shocked. So flavorful and clearly homemade. Then we get to dessert. I almost screamed when I found out one of my absolute favorite places in PB directly supplies their dessert counter. Absolutely amazing. Went here for dinner yesterday. Got the fried chicken salad, basic, 2/5 at best. Nothing special. Chicken tasted like it may have been frozen and had a taste as if the oil that it was fried in was old. Tried my boyfriend's messy burger and it was very good. We ate outside and it was nice. The hostess was incredibly sweet and the waitress was as well. Excellent customer service. read more

We stopped in to Rachel's for a quick lunch on our way home from Julian. We we're quickly seated by our wonderful server. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Our food came quickly, hot and fresh. It wasn't easy to decide since their menu is diverse and Interesting. I settled on an omelette for lunch. It was filled with all the delicious ingredients and I left the restaurant with a full belly. I finally got in to check out one of Ramona's newest restaurants, Rachel's Cafe & Eatery. I visited twice recently and enjoyed myself both times. The vibe is modern, relaxed and welcoming. All of the staff were so nice, genuine and hospitable. I appreciate that they take reservations online and have draft beer! There's a decent selection of wines by the glass. Local Ramona wineries are well represented on the list however by bottle only. The "Cocktails" portion of the menu might be a misnomer since they're using a soju based product at 48 proof. Your mileage may vary depending on your expectations. While some may scoff at the so-called tacky pin ball and claw machines, I thought they were fun to look at and not at all distracting. Restrooms were nicely appointed, spacious, clean and thoughtfully decorated. Most recently I had the Fish and Chips ($19) which were outstanding. Cod filets were thick, meaty and succulent with an exquisite crispy batter that I loved. Fries were hot and crispy, as they should be. The side of "house made remoulade" was unremarkable and tasted mostly of mayonnaise. That recipe needs to go back to the drawing board or be made in a different house. Previously I had ordered the Chicken Tomato Pesto Tortellini ($23) which turned out to be a pretty monotonous dish and a chore to eat. Small institutional tri-colored tortellini and excessively sauced. I had higher hopes for that one. I look forward to returning soon to try one of their burgers. I saw a few come out and they looked extraordinary! Biggest bummer for me was the added 4% fee to pay with my debit card. Overall a real nice establishment, I wish them great success. read more

Made a reservation for a party of 5 at 11:30 a.m. for Mother's Day. The hostess was lovely and cleaned our table and seated us right away. This is where everything goes downhill. Our server was nice enough, but it took her quite a while to greet us. Even longer to take our order. In fact, when she asked to get our drink order we had already been sitting for so long we asked her to please just take our food order as well. She brought our drinks out, which was nice, but then we sat for an hour waiting for our food. We had all finished our drinks and she never came to ask if we would like refills. We lined our glasses up at the edge of our table hoping she would take the hint as she walked past us time and time again. Nope. We finally had to flag her down and ask for refills. We were all grouchy and starving. After an hour, 4/5th of our food came out and it was all cold. We were too hungry to send it back and wait another hour for hot food. The only entree that was even warm was my son's burger that came out 10 minutes after everything else. I get that it was Mother's Day, and that this place was going to be busier than usual. This is when additional staff should be scheduled so you don't make your diner's Mother's Day celebrations fall completely flat. So very disappointing. read more

Food was absolutely amazing at Rachel's cafe, best staff service I've had in Ramona, food was seasoned to perfection and very unique flavor. One of the best 2 meals I've tasted in a long time. While we were waiting on orders, we checked them out. To get five star, you need to get your coffee game elevated. Not talking espresso yet, but at least good filtered coffee. The drink was delicious. The soup was pretty good! The atmosphere is very cute but loud. They need to add some soft things like pillows or macrame on the walls. It just reverberates with noise when it gets full. Our server was great although she did say the numbers wrong in our final bill so I thought it was $43 for two bowls of soup and a drink instead of $34. She did automatically include a 20% tip. Even for a party of two. That's fine with me because that's what I normally tip but I was surprised. Just a good thing to know--tips are automatic and they're 20%. As huge fans of the owner's previous restaurant, we were truly hoping our second visit here would be the charm. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. We arrived at slightly before 5 PM on a Saturday to an empty restaurant, and the meal that followed explained why. While beautifully presented, the food was surprisingly basic for how much ingredients each dish has and lacked flavor. Ground chicken shouldnt be used in a restaurant... there's no way to make it look or taste good. My gnocchi was inedibly salty, and my husband's burger left him with an upset stomach for the rest of the night. He's never one to complain, but he was incredibly let down with everything we ordered. We have immense respect for the owner and know the potential is there as we were huge fans of the food at her last location. We're writing this not to be harsh, but in the sincere hope that adjustments can be made. In a time when dining out is a luxury, the food has to deliver. We are rooting for them to turn things around. read more

We had heard this place had a couple of mixed reviews so we decided to come check it out for my Mom's birthday. The restaurant is cute in a farm chic style with a bakery case near the entrance. The hostess greeted us and led us to our table in the back of the restaurant and handed out our menus while we waited for our server. After 10 minutes my husband went to find someone to help us. Jess, our server, came right after that and apologized for the inconvenience. We ordered our food and also explained we were there celebrating a birthday. Jess said she'd check with Rachel and see what was available. We ordered Brussels sprouts for our appetizer, mom ordered the club sandwich with fries, hubs and I shared the Cobb salad with blue cheese. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, a little bit sweet and savory at the same time due to the pomegranate arils and shaved Parmesan cheese, roasted to perfection. Mom's sandwich looked good and she said it was very tasty as well as the fries, she ate it all! The Cobb salad was good, chicken was cooked perfectly and still warm as we ate it, also had eggs, avocado slices, bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese. The only ingredient missing (for me) was onions but it wasn't a deal breaker. The dressing was on the thin side and no blue cheese crumbles, average. I also ordered a brown sugar Boba, very good tea to flavoring ratio with a good amount of boba in it. Jess brought us our bill and hubby asked her about the birthday treat for my mother and we were told that the tartlets weren't available and if she liked she could have a scoop of ice cream instead. Stopped at my favorite restaurant in Ramona on 1/25/26, it was about 3:15pm and I just wanted to order a late lunch with a friend they make great vegan option burger. It was busy and we were patient no big deal, but the waitress acted like she hated us from the second we walked up, letting us know she is all by herself (we didn't ask) and anything you requested of her was met with unfriendliness. I didn't understand it we had no demands, no ill will, it seemed she was friendly with every other customer but us. I asked for water my my little dog and was met with more personal issues by her. She never once said hi, have a nice day, smiled, come again. It made me sad because I usually go every Sunday to Rachel's to eat after I hike in the local mountains. I had never seen this waitress before and I hope I never do again. read more

I was visiting from out of town and went to Rachel's because another restaurant had water pressure issues and had to close early. What a stroke of luck that was! I'm very picky about what I eat and how it's prepared. Rachel's was so accommodating and presented my meal beautifully. We never waited long, we were attended to, and they even brought out more heaters , because we asked to sit outside, and there was a bit of chill. Each plate is prepared deliciously and beautifully. No complaints here! I went back multiple times to meet up with friends. It's a wonderful place with excellent service, good people , and great food. read more

A much needed addition to Ramona! This place is amazing! Exactly the type of place this small town needed! It's clean and modern with a small town feel. I have owned a small business in Ramona for 17 years and the dine in options are slim. I get the burgers there for lunch and they do not disappoint you could tell the parties are made in house and the brioche buns taste like they were just baked! But my absolute fav is the pork chop with mashed potato's, the glaze is amazing and the chop is cooked just right. The service is amazing and everyone is very friendly. I got the pleasure of having Rachel actually serve us one day and you would not have known she was the owner what a friendly, kind and genuine person. We also had our employee Christmas party here they had three people serving us the whole time and everything was cooked to perfection especially their delicious wings. What I got was a 1/4" slab of beef between two pieces of bread with some onions and cheese. Meat was chewy and unappetizing. I asked for a side salad instead of fries, I got the fries. After a short while the server brought the salad dressing but still no salad. I ended up having to ask for it. Not impressed. Won't be back. read more

We had the best Retirement Party at Rachel's! When trying to work with other restaurants in Ramona and trying to accomodate a large party Rachel's was by far the easiest and nicest to deal with. I called the owner (Rachel) and explained what I was looking for. She was amazing and extremely helpful. The day of the party we were immediately greeted and our table was ready to go. Right away our server brought waters to the table with these soft warm buttery rolls. Once our party of 20 people arrived they got appetizers on the table. They had a large variety of drinks and appetizers. So many options to choose from and budget friendly. We ordered a steak dinner with mashed potatoes and carrots! Absolutely delicious! Watch out for illegal charges on the bill! The Prime Rib and Salmon Salad were both great, as was the service...right up until we got the bill. We had 3 overcharges, only 1 of which was fixed when we inquired: -Prime Rib on menu $40, charged $45 (fixed) -Baked Potato included with Prime Rib, charged $2 (not fixed) -Mysteriously the bill jumped by another $3. Was told this is what the credit card company charges, yet this was not on the receipt or the menu (not fixed) Don't be a coward like me and agree to a bill that is incorrect. Honest mistakes happen, but when 3 mistakes happen in their favor and they don't fix 66% of them to the tune of almost an extra 10%, that's not a good sign. We won't be coming back. read more

A disappointment. Service was not warm or inviting. There are arcade games inexplicably right there in the small dining room. And of course, 3 big TVs, one showing a basketball game. Aside from a few booths, the chairs throughout are those cheap, hard metal chairs that just make you want to leave. Likewise, the loud modern country radio music is what you expect in Ramona, but doesn't exactly make for a relaxing meal. The appetizer was undercooked. The entree was lukewarm, bland and underseasoned. The bread rolls were ridiculously chewy. The salad, at least made with fresh ingredients, was served with a plastic cup of dressing instead of being properly dressed in the kitchen. The texture of the dessert was off. You want a new restaurant to succeed, but I can't find a reason to return, particularly given how expensive it is. As the bright neon sign on the wall in the dining room reads, "Life is too short to eat bad food." Sorry to report that this new cafe carries on the town's tradition of culinary mediocrity. read more

This is the first time we have tried Rachel's for dinner. We ordered the Chicken Parm and the Maple Bourbon Pork Chop. There were only a couple of tables filled in the restaurant but our food took about 30 minutes to be served. The chicken on the Chicken Parm was good. Didn't understand the big slice of burnt cheese under it though. The pasta sauce was unremarkable. The pork chop was over cooked and the vegetables were buried in the (cold) mashed potatoes under the pork chop. We don't like wasting food but we didn't even bother bringing the leftovers home. While they do have heated outside seating we noticed that they allowed a couple seated near us to bring two large dogs into the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and answered all of our questions. We did notice on the bottom of the menu in very small print that they charge more if you pay by card. We won't be returning anytime soon. read more
