Get real sushi somewhere else. You won't find it here. I've been here twice and was more disappointed the second time. In fact, I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from this place. The first time I went there was about a year ago. The wait staff seemed to either ignore us or just forgotten about us. I kept going up to the front and asking them for things because they only came to our table once on their own, when we sat down. There's definitely vibes there. Just really weird ones! Today I ordered uber eats from there. I wanted La Basil Thai but they're not on Uber Eats. So anyway, the sushi rolls were weird. The rice is not the sushi rice I've had at other places and the salmon and tuna didn't seem fresh. I asked for extra salmon on both and I couldn't tell if I got extra $10 worth. I don't think they added anything extra. They just charged me more. Within about an hour or two I started noticing an allergic reaction, like hives, on my skin on different areas of my body. It eventually went away but I can't think of anything else I had today that could've caused it except for the sushi. It happened to my wife too. The only common denominator was the sushi today. I live in El Cajon and drive all the way here for the sushi!!! It is soooo good! We have been here over 10 times now and the fish is always fresh! The owner and staff are professional and friendly. My 1300th review & sadly it has to be the one I have to be brutally honest about. So let me get the honest negatives out of the way: I think the entire community of Ramona are very supportive about their local businesses and this establishment seems to have just about 100% based on all the positive reviews. But even in my own hometown, if something didn't taste right or match the amount of money you paid for it, honest feedback is important to let others know what they may be in for and room for improvement for restaurant management. The restaurant & parking in front are usually empty to sporadic/sparse. So to the point the sushi was uber micro mini. Pictures other reviews posted don't lie. The taste was mediocre. I also had an appetizer and soup and it didn't taste like average soup & appetizer from a Sushi restaurant. Prices were high but the quality didn't match the price. Restaurant seems little dated but here's the positive: The employees & owner were nice and super attentive. Maybe invest in a better chef? So there's that , there's always hope. read more

I was passing through and saw the sushi sign. Decided to stop by and tried the chirashi. Service was hit or miss, but improved toward the end. Surprising since they weren't very busy. The chirashi was ok. Rice was regular steamed rice, served hot, when typically it's served with cooler sushi seasoned rice. There were two generous slices of hamachi which were very good. Other kinds of fish were smaller servings and tasted fresh, but there was nothing to make it interesting beyond pickled ginger. I enjoyed it, it wasn't bad, but was not a strong example of chirashi. Would have tasted better with sushi rice, and putting sashimi over hot rice is not great for food safety. read more

Visited 2/10/2024 2/10/2024 Wow Dinner last night at Vibes in Ramona was such a surprise. I haven't been there since it changed hands a number of years ago. The place was nicely decorated, very clean and has a nice menu selection. I, as usual over ordered because everything on the menu looked so yummy I couldn't resist. I Started with The Coconut Shrimp . It was very well prepared and the coating was perfect. Next I had The Gyoza. Great flavored filling but could have been browned up a bit more on the grill. I couldn't come to a Sushi Bar and not have a Sushi Roll. I chose The Shrimp & Crab Crunchy Roll. It was very Tasty. I definitely enjoyed it and am looking forward to trying more on my next visit. Finally I ordered The Shrimp Yakisoba. What a delicious Shrimp Noodle Dish. Loaded with 7 Nice Large Perfectly Cooked Shrimp mixed with Japanese Style Stir Fried Noodles, Green Onions, Cabbage, and Pink Ginger. I loved This One. Service was prompt and friendly. Located in a nondescript convenience mall, Vibes is pretty good, but not yet "great". The menu is big on rolls and there are also quite a few nigiri options, along with a couple of sashimi choices, along with options for kids and even a burger. It's actually a really big menu, but lacks combination dinners for dinner, which would've been nice. We started with the "GTS" edamame (with the teriyaki sauce on the side, wtf???) and they were OK. The onion soup had an interesting taste, and was an odd item; first time I'd seen this on a Japanese menu. It was also huge. After that we had the Perla roll, which was just OK; the description was better than the actual roll. We finished up with the "333" sashimi, which was outstanding, far and away the best part of our meal, it was excellent. They comped us another roll (apparently a Tuesday) special, and it was OK as well. It had katsuoboshi flakes sprinkled on top which was a nice touch, but otherwise ordinary. They have a large selection of adult beverages, but the wine choices are limited and pretty poor. We asked for a bottle of Chardonnay and instead were given two large glasses of wine that was obviously corked and just awful; it looked like apple cider, to be honest. I brought this to our server's attention and he replaced this stuff with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio that were better, so that was good. The service is very friendly but distracted and slow, and the food took a long time to get it to our table, too. I got to talking to our server and found out the owners are from Iraq(!) and they've been open two years. They're super-friendly and I hope they'll be successful, but they need to pay attention to a few key issues. The room has a nice vibe and I noticed quite a few families having dinner. Worst than grocery store sushi at restaurant prices. Yesterday was our first time trying this sushi and we were looking forward to hopefully finding a new sushi place. Some of the pictures and descriptions sounded nice, not too much variety in rolls, but we thought we try. Boy were we deeply disappointed by this place. We spent way too much money for food that went in the trash because it made me feel sick a couple of times. The calamari was so oily it was all I could taste, the salmon eggs/ Ikura was fake or was off because it felt and tasted weird. The tuna in one of the rolls was turning and the eel in another roll made me feel so sick I stopped eating. Also, they forgot my drink. I was really hoping to find a good sushi place but this is way too expensive for the bad food we got. I guess it's back to Narumi Sushi for us, even the grocery store sushi in Ramona is better than this place because it never made me feel sick. As a local, I was excited to go to this new Sushi restaurant. I have been here about 5 times at this point and wanted to go a few times before writing a review. The service is slow but it was not horrible. It seems like a lot of learning which is fine for a newer restaurant in my opinion. They were not rude just slower then you would expect. The sushi has been pretty decent thus far not the best I have had but enjoyable. We got their edamame which I can say we get and then don't like each time. They have a special name for their spicy garlic one I believe they also add teriyaki sauce to it. We always get it thinking it's going to be fantastic and each time we are left wondering why we ordered it yet again. Maybe to us it's like getting chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant so we just subconsciously need it. The sushi rolls are a decent size, the 2 different sushi chefs we have had were nice and talkative. The sushi again isn't the best ever it seems to have gotten better each time we have gone or at least has stayed consistent. As far as the location and ambiance it's in an interesting location with a liquor store beer by, and business offices above. It's been quite warm when we have gone in I am unaware if they have air conditioning or not as we usually have gone in the evening and I don't recall it ever being on as the front doors have been open. Ordered dinner tonight to take home for an at home date night and the food could be better. All the food tastes prepackaged/fake or heavily fried and you can taste the oil. Very disappointing. The new Vibes Sushi has been open for a while now so I went in to try them out. The menu is surprisingly comprehensive. Two pages of creative looking rolls, lunch specials, appetizers, various hot dishes and whatnot. There were only two draft beer options, but that's better than nothing. The restaurant itself was clean, modern and very comfortable inside. It has been redecorated and painted so it looks quite different from the previous sushi proprietor. The staff and servers all seemed professional and dialed in. Good service experience. The only negative was plastic forks! And not even high quality ones. If you're not a chopstick pro, you can request a cheap plastic fork. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki Bowl. Includes mushrooms and broccoli. I omitted the mushrooms, however there was no broccoli either. Not sure why. It was a good serving and very filling but it was served in such a huge bowl it looked disproportionate. The teriyaki glaze was excellent. I opted for the chicken fried rice which was tasty although contained way too many peas and carrots. Overall a decent dish but the execution was fairly pedestrian. We also shared a California Roll as an appetizer. It was beautifully plated and probably one of the best tasting CA Rolls I've eaten. For Ramona this place should get 5 stars. It was clean, staff was nice, and the rolls were good, though half were made a bit shoddy/were falling apart. I didn't really dock for this since maybe one of the chefs was new or maybe it was just an off night. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't eat it and tasted great even if it was a little loose I didn't care much. Literally a hidden gem in a small strip center near the Jack in the Box, Vibes Sushi is cute and cozy inside and perfect for Date Night. The service was A+! We got take out. The staff packed it perfectly and it survived the trip back to Borrego Springs looking as good as it did at the restaurant. They're also friendly, fast and take pride in their work The Bento Boxes! We got one each of salmon and shrimp teriyaki. The Boxes were beautiful and so yummy that we're still talking about them this morning. We also got yakisoba and a tempura roll. We originally stopped by here to see if they have veggie rolls for my husband, which they did and the Veggie Tempera Roll (sorry, no picture) was really good! But we stayed for the custom roll the sushi chef made, pictured below. I asked for a simple albacore roll but the gentleman, I wish I got his name, offered to make me something special. He asked what I like and disliked and made suggestion. And he created this beauty, albacore inside and out, along with avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber on the inside. Sprinkled with furikake and lemon, ponzu sauce, and spicy mayo on the side. The waitress and waiter that were there were so sweet as well. We came to Vibes sushi for my sister's birthday dinner and they were absolutely amazing! We set up a reservation and they already had crayons and coloring pages available for our 3 kiddos. We had a nice big table set up for us and they even accommodated us with putting the fight on for us tonight. They were very attentive to our large dinner party and were super accommodating when it came to gluten free soy sauce. They brought out a HUGE cake and ice cream tray for the birthday girl and little ice creams for the kiddos. They had little chop stick helpers for the kids too.
