Enjoyed the food served here. My wife loves their enchiladas suizas. I tend to get their siete mares soup, their cilantro chicken, or their adobado.

    Front entry looked promising.

First visit and was recommended by a local. The place was so busy, we immediately thought it must be great. However, we were very disappointed by the lackluster service, and the food. I mean, this had to be some of the worst Mexican food we've ever eaten. FOOD: First off, a basket of Chips & Salsa was $3...ouch! We started with an order of Camaron (Shrimp) Tostada Ceviche ($12.99) to share among the five of us. It was only okay. For entrèes, I had the Camarones a la Diabla ($22.99), which was awful. The shrimp were good, however the Diabla sauce tasted like ketchup, with sriracha for the heat, and the rice and beans were very bland. We also tried the Two Shrimp Enchilada Plate ($21.99), Camarones Rancheros ($22.99), Two Enchiladas Suizas Plate ($15.99), and Two Shrimp Enchiladas a la carte ($11.99). The green sauce on the Enchiladas Suizas was good, but everything else was bland or downright not tasty. Ramona needs good restaurants to accommodate their booming winery tourist experiences. Unfortunately, I don't think this one was. I'd be hard pressed to make a return visit. Very disappointing.

Huge portions and good quality ingredients. Food was really good. I also got a Blended Mango margarita but was disappointed by the lack of tequila taste- it tasted like a virgin drink. Their speciality drinks are made with wine agave and maybe thats why? Not sure, but still was a good mango flavor. Service was good!

Had a late lunch here on Monday, we were one of three tables of people in the restaurant and I was sad to see it slow [it was about 4 o'clock] because the food was really good and the waitress was funny and kind. I had the combo plate, chile relleno and cheese enchilada with a side of beans and rice and I will order it again. Thank you.

I've literally driven by this place for the last 15 years on my way to my wife's family in Ramona always thinking about how much I want to try it and I finally have now... twice! The food is definitely a 5 star... the portions are huge and the food is fresh and delicious! The chips could definitely use some help and/or some salt... especially since you have to pay for them and they're not complimentary like most places Service and decor are adequate... not that I really care as long as the food is good. Until something major changes I'll continue to come here for a decent authentic Mexican meal

    Inside, very nicely decorated

Disappointed I was not........... Would I come back again? Absolutely % Why not 5 stars? Keep on reading and you'll find out So, 4 stars for the following: (They were really close to getting 5 stars First, food was amazing. Everything was cooked just right and it had the perfect flavor. The portions were just right and the prices for the portions were decent, but see below for a note on that.. As you can see from pictures, I tried a little bit of some things. Second, service was top notch. This is the kinda of place you just want to keep coming back to again and again. The ladies were very attentive and really nice from the moment we walked in. So why not the five stars? For a few reasons. First, beware prices on the menu (which I am posting) do not match prices on the receipt! That's a HUGE no no. Management, please take the time to update the menu prices! Second, the sopa 7 mares (sea food soup for you gringos ) was lacking quantity in some items. Crab legs? More like crab toes (see pictures) fish? Hardly any. It had more octopus and shrimp than anything else. It was still pretty tasty. Anyhow, cone on down and try the place, I think its worth it. Just know prices are about to $2 to $3 more. I'm not from the area, I was on vacation but will come back when I'm in the area again Hope this info helps someone

Metal chairs and wooden booth/bench that lines the front and side of the restaurant. Pillows are spread across the booth/bench for those needing a little back support. We were seated quickly and our waitress addressed us promptly, which is much appreciated. I ordered the nonalcoholic blackberry mojito. It took all of my might not to drink it all at once. So refreshing, not overly sweet. We ordered the Brussel sprouts appetizer, which appeared faster than we had expected. Yummy I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with the fried chicken. He ordered the burger. Fettuccine light but with excellent flavor, the fried chicken was moist and not over coated. The burger was oozing with beef juices. Although his mashed potatoes were a bit dry, the gravy was very tasty. I'd say the atmosphere is casual, but not shorts and tank casual. Definitely not business casual or dressy. The staff were all so kind and checked in on us and attended to our needs when requested. Go in and check it out for yourself, you won't regret it. It's a great place but one drawback is the inside dining seating isn't comfortable for "lazy" dining (as you don't want to sit on the seats long)

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

A friend asked if I wanted to have breakfast when I was in town and at first I refused to go there but he assured me it wasn't the same kountry kitchen as before. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.

Now that we live in Ramona, we have been venturing out and trying the different eating establishments. This place is like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. It has a great vibe and decent prices. The plates are HUGE and definitely shareable. I have been here a few times now, and I always really like what I order, with one exception: I am not a fan of their biscuits. I have tried on a few occasions and they do not do it for me. Today's was really not palatable. You can tell it was overworked and not cooked properly. You could still taste raw flour. It stuck to the plate it was on; that's how poorly cooked it was. On the happy side, we had great breakfasts. I ordered something different today, their Au Gratin omelette. It tasted great, but did not taste anything like Au Gratin potatoes. I would order it again. We also had chicken-fried steak with gravy and a chorizo scramble. Both were tasty and super filling. I understand their cinnamon rolls are out of this world. Since I rarely eat sweet things, I have yet to take a bite. Hoping next time I go out with friends, someone orders one. There is outdoor seating, and the establishment is dog-friendly. So bring Fido along and enjoy a meal. *Please excuse the photo. I forgot to take one before I started eating my omelette. You can see how dry the biscuit was in the next photo.
