Unfortunately I have to give one star as I cannot go lower. I am shocked at how things went today as I have been here several other times and gave either 4-5!stars. So, let's hit on what went wrong and why you need to evaluate coming here. Let's first start off as i do have food allergies and one of them being celiac disease. I've been here before and came across no issues. This time the attitude of the person who said she was an owner was that she could not accommodate me. Now I have eaten all over Turlock and other locations where this was no problem. The part that threw me for a loop was how rude she was about it. Even my son who is very laid back said this is horrible and let's leave. The so called owner said all of our food is prepped a week in advance and we cannot insure cross contamination. Ok. But prepped a week in advance? Who wants to eat somewhere where the food has been prepped out that far? Fresh? I guess not. In other words there was nothing to review food wise as the service was below one star we got up and left. What happened to this place???? read more

Favorite coffee shop in town. High quality coffee and a wide variety of Rishi tea. Excellent lattes with unique, aromatic ingredients. My favorites are the Turkish Latte and Valencia. This place is terrible!! The one star is only for the artsy atmosphere. The service is bad and the food... Well not impressed. Went for dinner and they made us wait while they sat people who came after us without a reservation.....wow. Very slow service. Then Went for brunch to give them a second chance, this time with a reservation and still made us wait 25 mins while others got seated without one. Ran out of potatoes and had to get up to ask for silverware and coffee fills. The chilaquiles were like breakfast nachos. No third chance. read more

This place is amazing!! Everything I look for in a brunch place for the weekend. Great selection of hot drinks/coffees and a delicious menu of well balanced dishes that combine an equal amount of great flavor with a small hint of decadence. I love Mexican food so this place is a hit in my books. Their salsas could use a little work, but it's okay cause I understand why their not spicy. I am hesitate to give this place one star because the cafe has great quality food. My friend and I look forward to the coffee once and a while. But today's experience was HORRIBLE!!!!! We pulled up and there were (not kidding) 30 homeless people hanging around. We didn't think much of it until we sat down and began enjoying the food we paid for when we noticed that the shop was giving away free coffee to homeless people. I am all for giving to the needy, but I felt this was a little unfair as I just paid $12 for a coffee and bagel. A man was trying to enjoy his coffee outside and got in a small argument with a few homeless people because they were smoking right next to him. He clearly had to back down because more homeless people came over to argue. To top it off, my friend and I had to pack up our breakfast and coffee to go because one homeless person smelt so bad that we couldn't even enjoy our food. The looks on other paying customers was the same as ours. I wanted to talk to management but it was a bunch of young kids working. If you see a bunch of homeless hanging around I do not recommend going in. If there isn't, the cafe could be a lovely experience. read more

The wait is ridiculous, that's how popular it is But there is also stores meant to kill time We asked for an inside table but they gave us a table next to the heater since we were waiting so long maybe more than 35 min Took my mom out for breakfast for her birthday We first ordered tea, water and I also ordered a hot chocolate from the cafe which is awesome And it tasted awesome Anyhow it was so cold outside but they also have blankets for people to use I ordered the wedding chicken My mom ordered the two tamales with salad and then also chilaquiles The wedding chicken was okay, not great. Beans and white rice that came along with it were okay. There was also a bit of greens on the side which I asked for a side of avocado to eat it with which was nice. I posted a review a long time ago that they shouldn't put greens on top of hot food. So I was glad it wasn't on top I tasted the tamales my mom had which weren't that good. I liked the the salad on the side had strawberries We asked for hot salsa and that actually tasted good with the beans and rice The chilaquiles were okay, not great the red sauce isn't that great. My wife and I have always loved La Mo for their incredible breakfast and lunch fare and have always wished they served dinners - well, last night our wish came true as we learned that La Mo is now serving dinners on Thursday and Friday evenings. We visited with another couple and all ordered different dishes. The Wedding Chicken Burrito that I ordered was wonderful with large pieces of chicken wrapped in the burrito topped with an incredible sauce that had a very unique and mildly spicy flavor. While it may be Mexican food served at La Mo, by no means is it your typical Mexican fare. From fresh, healthy, and often locally grown ingredients, to unique sauces and combinations of tastes, the dishes come to your table arranged in an attractive setting. We couldn't resist trying a dessert, so my wife and I ordered Sonja's Flan Cake. WOW, a rich chocolate cake topped with equally-rich flan, drizzled with a caramelized sauce and topped with light whipped cream and berries - my mouth is watering as I describe it here! One of my all-time favorite spots in Turlock, for brunch, lunch or dinner! You can go wrong with any of the menu specials, or pretty much anything on the menu. My personal favorites include the pumpkin pancakes or huevos rancheros for breakfast, or the wedding sauce shrimp enchiladas for lunch or dinner. I went today walked up forgetting my mask asked if they had tables available since I only had the lunch hour was told she could not speak or help me since I was not wearing a mask... as not one person I could see in the place had a mask on mind you... Today I went in because I had received a private invitation, the restaurant sucked! It was a shut show! I went in and ordered a grande creme brûlée latte and it was cold! I WAITED 30 MINUTES FOR COFFEE!!!! HOW RIDICULOUS!!! I had also witnessed many upset costumers including a customer whom constantly complained about the service but I do not blame her the service here was HORRIBLE! The manger was not helpful and quit right in front of all the customers and so did another server. On top of that incident there were no menus and the food was outrageously expensive! First off, the environment is fantastic. The servers were friendly, the place was family friendly, and the view was aesthetically pleasing. I ordered la lechera ? I believe it's called. For having such great reviews the coffee feel short. The coffee taste really came through but it tasted like coffee I could make at home easily. Not very flavorful. I also ordered a pumpkin tart. Well for some reason my first review was deleted. so I'm adding it again... My husband and I called to make a reservation since we were really wanting to try La Mo after seeing it down town by accident... The place is very quaint and the outdoor garden area is where I asked to be seated. The waiter seated us right away but I had to request another chair.. There were many outdoor garden styles to choose from so the second one was better for my back than the first which was plastic. We were asked if we wanted chips and salsa for the table which we agreed. They were a charge but we would have been ok with that, but the chips were very dry and hard; I actually had one poke my throat when I swallowed it. My husband ordered the chili relleno and I ordered the quinoa salad which was on special; I asked for the option to add chicken. The waiter said that the chili relleno's were pretty decent sized so my husband ordered one but should have ordered two since it was the size of a jalapeno pepper... I will say that the flavor was great but he was still hungry after eating it; I think they should make 2 the standard instead of an option. My lunch came and they had forgot the chicken; the waiter went to the back and came out with chicken immediately. It obviously was already sitting on a plate cold and not cooked for me; it was also dry and under-seasoned. We were so undewhelmed and hungry after our lunch since the portions were tiny; I would have asked for a refill of chips but they weren't worth eating. We mentioned our disappointment to the waiter and he offered to bring us a "free dessert".. I have to say the dessert was awesome; it was a piece of choclate cake with berries and whip cream and a carmel drizzle... Yum... The desert would be the only thing I would go there for; it's a lovely place, they need to make some changes to the food though! read more

Ok so I get the good reviews about the place . La Mo has an excellent garden ambience and is a hit with the locals. The food was presented with attention and flair and it looked good. The only thing missing was enough seasoning. Maybe its the health food kick that La Mo strives to cater to, but to me all the food lacked some salt. Now you may as well comment "well why didnt you go ahead and just add some?" . Well I usually like to taste the food the chef has in mind first so that I get an idea of his/her palate. The other thing that was a little off was the laissez-faire attitude of our server. She forgot that we had asked for the tamales, and I guess was too hungry to check up on us after the food was served. We saw her eating by herself with her back turned to us for quite a while, so we had to ask the other wait staff to re-fill our drinks etc. That usually means a 10% tip in my book and thats what she got, Overall a good place for lunch, and for what I guess is healthier mexican food, but I think Mi Casa is still my to go place for Mexican. read more
