La Mo, a bright green orange and blue hidden restaurant in downtown Turlock, is an amazing place to eat at. I say hidden because the restaurant wen walking through downtown you don't see it outside you have to go in and pass by there cafe area . It is definitely my favorite place to eat lunch and breakfast I NEED to go in and try Dinner . If you have a chance to go by and you have the breakfast menu try the corn pancakes or the chilaquiles the flavor the put makes your tastebuds dance with excitement . If you happen to be there at lunch I recommend the wedding chicken oh my world it's out of this world so creamy so rich with a hint of spiciness. La Mo is a hit and miss with us every time. We never have great or exceptional service at this restaurant. The service is always okay. I understand that they're busy at times but to only be checked when we order and once after is a bit ridiculous for being there for an hour or more. We overlook that because of the fabulous food! The wedding chicken is an absolute favorite of mine! We have come here a few times for lunch but breakfast only twice. Recently, we had breakfast and we got two orders of the Orange French Toast and one order of the Breakfast Burrito with bacon. The Orange Sourdough French Toast was phenomenal!! The flavor in that dish is out of this world! The creme and fresh fruit it comes with is so yummy! I don't have a sweet tooth but this dish I can have over and over again. I have also tried the Breakfast Burrito with bacon. It wasn't my favorite. The tortilla was a bit chewy and the burrito was soggy. The egg was runny, there was too much sauce in it and the flavors just didn't seem right. Also, it does seemed overpriced for the food you get. I had a chance to visit La Mo last week for lunch. Although tucked away in a hard to find area, it was worth the find! I had the health burrito and I was very pleased. It had a ton of flavor but I did not feel stuffed like after eating at a regular Mexican restaurant. La Mo's, located in Turlock, is a great little restaurant for Mexican Food. Their patio area with umbrellas is lovely, and the decor inside is nice. The service is very good. The chili rellanos are fresh and delicious, and I could have made a meal out of the chips/salsa, and yes, we splurged and got the tasty sweet potato fries, but we didn't stop there! The flan is well worth the indulgence-it has a nice brown sugar crust on the bottom and is drizzled with caramel. I understand why this establishment has a good reputation. An interesting fact is "La Mo" is short for "La Morenita," the restaurant in Modesto and owned by the same owner as La Mo. read more

Went to the cafe area today for the first time and was pretty impressed. Small little place right before you get to the main restaurant. Prices of the drinks were more on the pricey side but similar to many other coffee shops. They had a nice variety of pastries and drinks. They had plenty of seats inside and outside. This place serves amazing food and the restaurant, itself, is pretty adorable. It has a real Mexican cafe style. The waitstaff is very friendly and responsive and they have many great menu items to choose from. The only thing to watch out for is that there isn't a ton of seating available, so sometimes we'll go and there will be a really long wait. But, it's just because this place is that good. This place is amazing. Not only is the food delicious and definitely authentic. But the atmosphere is as well. There is a Latin buzz and warmth. Almost nostalgic, like you are in a different place on vacay. What is seen and heard delivers a lift of life. The staff is very friendly and wear beautiful frida kahlo print aprons. The sangria is dangerously on point. The black bean dip with a touch of tomatillo is delectable. The wedding chicken sauce, let's just say I can just drink it out of a glass please. Worst restaurant ever! Customer service is horrible here. Been here a couple times and the service is always very slow, but today was the worst service I've had ever. The server was very rude. I had forgotten my ID in my other purse, I'm 33 years old, so of course we understood I couldn't order a drink so my husband ordered one for himself. I took a few sips of it and gave the drink back, but the server was apparently monitoring us, as she was so awkward with her evil smile came over and told me you can't drink it, if you don't have your ID. Never in my lifetime in any restaurant has someone been monitoring or said something if we took a sip of someone drink. I said "it's his drink I took a sip of it and I'm 33 years old, but ok sure I won't drink it, even though I've never been at a restaurant that is monitoring me taking a few sips" and she goes on and on then she says "well I could just take it" she was very awkward speaking to us like were kids, when my husband had clearly presented his ID and it's his drink yet she says she can take it when I only took a few sips and said ok got it.. yet she went on and on about it. She could have been professional and just said I'm sorry we have an awkwardly strict policy here where you cannot sip someone's drink unless you show us ID and she could've moved on. She appeared to be a hater--since she was giving attitude since we walked in and made weird remarks for everything we asked, like when I asked what type of wine is in the sangria because I get headaches with cheap alcohol. She said well it's a low end one of course lol and how am I to of course know that? A hater--maybe because she looked about 45, but was probably only 30. Sucks for her, but don't take it out on customers, be professional. Never will we return to this wack restaurant and I'll make sure anyone we know does not go there either! There are flies and nats everywhere, they don't even have bug repellants or anything to control it. The food is mediocre we've tried it many times in the past, but we thought we'd give it another shot since it's been awhile. We had placed our food order already prior to the drink coming, but with her attitude and smirky evil smile we decided we didn't need negative vibes to ruin our Friday. We told them to cancel the order and the server we told was very nice and apologetic for her co-workers horrible behavior. AMAZING!! We were in Turlock to talk to Pam about puppies (Sawyer Farms). Pam suggested going to La Mo, called Gloria and got us a table. The space is really nice. Clean, bright and airy - and they are expanding. Everything is made in house, super fresh and VERY tasty. The service was great and everyone was very nice. We asked Gloria for her recommendations and WOW did we have the perfect meal. If we didn't live 3 hours away we would be there all the time, (we would have also had another pitcher of Sangria - sooooo good.) Sometimes you just feel like you're eating "restaurant" food, but honeslty this was like sitting in Gloria's house and having her cook for you. We'll be back for brunch in a couple of weeks, so we'll just have to be glad about that for now. read more

Amazing place! This is definitely my favorite place to eat in Turlock! These days it's pretty difficult to get your hands on some healthy but at the same time delicious food. La Mo is the perfect spot to get that! I love that everything is local too. The staff is really friendly and kind. The owners have stopped by my table a few times and said hello, and you can tell that they really care about their customers. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere though, it's very welcoming. Hi! everyone: I visited La Mo for the first time back in december and i felt so good knowing that they put the mexican cuisine in a whole different level! the flavors to what they cook and serve are perfect every time . i was there the once and the rest is history; what i recomend is their soup of the day and the daily especials: i had the pozole rojo which was out of this world; also i recomend the enchiladas a la plancha, so delicious.....after the first time i have become a regular and they treat you like family...so i recomend this restaurant 100% and if you visit one time be ready to get addicted to their cooking and their good service. i live in patterson and made it a habit to go there at least once a week that"s how good it is...SIMPLEMENTE; DELICIOSO HATS OFF TO THE OWNERS. La Mo is always an outstanding experience for me. It all starts with the atmosphere which is modern but very welcoming at the same time. You can tell that they put a lot of love into every aspect of the restaurant. The food is phenomenal, both breakfast and lunch. My favorite dish is the wedding chicken. But I've tried many plates and they are all delicious. La Mo is a perfect mixture of Mexican and American cuisine. The coffee shop has amazing specialty coffee and tasty homemade pastries. The staff at both the coffee shop and the restaurant is always very kind and helpful. Out of all the restaurants and coffee shops in Turlock, La Mo is without a doubt the best. La Mo is by far my favorite restaurant in the Central Valley. Their menu is full of perfectly prepared dishes with seasonal and fresh ingredients. The service is always warm and welcoming. Not once during my many visits here (and I mean many!) have I ever experienced poor service or a lackluster meal. Be sure to come here hungry because you will want to eat all of your meal and still have plenty of room for their amazing tres leches. I hesitated between rating this restaurant a 3 or a 4. The atmosphere is great; something you would see in SF or Monterrey. Very hipster like feel. We went on a Thursday around 6:00 pm; sat outside which is a nice patio area with round tables, outdoor fans and greenery. Big mistake. Although the air was fresh and we had a nice breeze; everyone seated in that area had one hand on their fork and the other hand shooing away flies. I have eaten outdoors before at other restaurants and never had this problem which means they need to install some sort of fly repellent so their guests can use both hands at the table. A fly even landed in our salsa at one point so we had to request another one. Once our food arrived (which was relatively quick) we stopped eating chips and (our new) salsa and then quickly had to never eat them again because in the short time that we picked up our forks to eat, the flies had already swarmed the salsa and the chips. I know, I know... they don't eat much but I just can't. The food was really good and very different. I had stuffed chili peppers which is kind of like Chile Rellenos but not. They were stuffed with large shrimp, grilled veggies and smothered in three different cheeses. To die for. The server was nice and very attentive. I was full and had great service (considering never being able to fully enjoy my meal since flies were all over our table the entire time) but as I got up to leave I noticed thick cottony felt all over my pants. See the towels they give you to wipe your hands on are that cheap cotton like white towels that you use to dry your car so.... even after washing my pants in cold water and hang drying; I still have lent all over them. Over all I would eat again but inside and not on the patio and I would ask for "to go" napkins. read more

The food was outstanding, beautiful ambiance, the service was quick and efficient, and one of the owners even came by our table and chatted with us about the restaurants history and where they look for inspiration for their menu. I really love the wedding chicken, sangria, and brunch menu here- but their waitresses/waiters need improvement. The last three times I came here, they acted like I wasn't there. The very last time I went, I knew I would not be back. It took 35 minutes for a waiter to even come to us. Here I am, thirsty and trying to get a menu. I watched two parties come before us and not only get waited on, but get served. It was so bad that we asked someone, "Who is taking care of us?" --to the waitress that came back to take our order ten minutes later. It was not busy. I do not know if it was poor management or poor service. We ordered bottomless mimosas, and after ONE, she gives us the tab. Despite how much I enjoy this place, I will not be back. Three times, same service. It was decent every other time I came. I can understand if it is busy, but I will not feel bad to ask FOR WATER if every other employee is sitting on their ass. two stars is just for the food, which is over priced. read more
