The chicken is the star of the meal--juicy, flavorful, and cooked over a charcoal grill that gives it an amazing smoky flavor. The rice and beans are also very authentic and pair perfectly with the chicken. My only minor critique is that the beans were a little soupier than I personally prefer, but they still tasted great. The macaroni salad was the only item that didn't really stand out. It wasn't bad, but it lacked seasoning and flavor compared to everything else on the plate. A couple of things to know before you go: it's cash only, so be sure to bring pesos or usd. It's also an outdoor-style restaurant with covered seating, and because the chicken is cooked over an open charcoal grill, the dining area can get fairly smoky. It definitely adds to the authentic experience, but it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to smoke. Overall, the food is delicious enough that I came back a second time during the same trip. While there are a few small areas for improvement, the flavorful chicken and authentic sides make Pollo Lucas a spot I'll definitely visit again the next time I'm in Rocky Point.
