I love this place, been going here for years and not once have I been disappointed. Their flan cake and cups are a delicious dessert and all of the breads are so beautiful and tasty. Love the tamales here as well, never leave without getting a few chicken tamales. It's a cozy place that has just about everything you need from a mini mart. Many times I've ordered food for events, always well organized, prepared, and delicious. I went in to find corn husks to make tamales, but after buying enough prepared items from their counter, I may never cook again! My Spanish is pretty limited, but the staff is kind enough to help me when I have to resort to sign language. The items I bought were fresh and delicious. My Hispanic friend recommended La norteba's tamale after hearing me complaining the expensive ones I got from the more expensive market. I paid a visit and I'm glad I did! The market was packed with stuff, such as veggies, pastries, cooked food and various grocery items. The best part of it, is I got good tamales for 2 dollars each! However, I don't recommend their pastries though. I got a concha bread and a Chocolate glazed donut, and both were dry. Which was a bit disappointing. Tamale was good though! read more

My favorite store in Beaverton, plenty of meat cuts, all the mexican supplies I need, yerba mate, and an amazing deli for burritos and tacos. Whenever I have a gathering, I get tacos, beans and rice and all the heavy work is done! Very nice bakery as well. After making the drive out to get these tacos several more times, I (sadly) have to update my review. The first time I came in, the tacos were AMAZING. Tasty, fresh, and stuffed with meat. But ever since, everything has gone downhill. The quality of the meat is not as good (and the serving size is smaller), the limes were hard and literally had NO juice, the service went from good to "let's ignore the fact that we have customers and have a casual chat in the back instead!" So disappointing! Plus the place really needs some deep cleaning. I saw a freezer/fridge that had all kinds of spills inside (and the contents looked... old?) And some of the products on the upper shelves were dusty. Luckily I've found a few places (actually in Portland) that serve consistently delicious (authentic street style) tacos, so I don't have to bother coming back to this hit or MISS spot. read more

This place will fix your Mexican food craving. They have so many meats ready to go, I ordered 7 tacos with 5 different meats. It literally filled my plate without room for anything. Don't get me wrong, it was a mess, but an awesome mess. I just love this place and the nice lady that helped me out. They are so friendly, and I knew it was going to be legit, due to being the only Asian, yet non Spanish person in there, but it's cool cuz I totally dig this. You walk in here and just know it's going to be good. La Nortena is hard to find though, and I've been referred by a friend that is really picky on his Mexican food. If you're searching for authentic Northern style Mexican food, this is a great place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Ordered 2 dishes, birria and the rotisserie chicken. Their street taco style (antojitos) is everything I ever dreamed of; if you've been craving for authentic, clean, bursting with freshness and flavor tacos from a place that certainly knows what they're doing-- COME HERE. They are so community-driven, kind, helpful people with such a high-quality work ethic; the atmosphere is beautiful. I walked in and the music and taste in the air just made me want to happy-dance all through the place. The meat is seasoned, hot, melt-in-your-mouth (al pastor mmmm), crispy (carne asada I'm looking at you!) and just such high quality. One taco has got to be like 3-4oz of meat, it's covered in diced white onion, fresh cilantro, and served with lime and optional carry-cups of red and green salsa; which is amazing, btw, because you can decide how much or little salsa you want and when to put it on the taco for maximum enjoyment. (Also $1.25 per taco???? We got 6 tacos and 2 Jarritos for $10 total. Best date night ever!) They have this gigantic wall of sweet breads (pan dulce); I nearly died. Everything looked and smelled so good! It's a grocery store, as well, so you can literally pop in for just about anything you need while satisfying that sweet meat craving. If this hasn't convinced you yet, the raw meat prices here are $1-3 cheaper per pound than most butchers/stores in Beaverton. I know from personal knowledge. Get what you need from a place that actually appreciates and enjoys your contribution as a consumer; aka here! (I want to find this place back when I moved to the Portland area!!!! So much regret!) Been going here for years, but my family and I ended up moving to Portland. Went back just last week and wow everything has changed. The lady yelled at my dad and I to get out of the way as well as she threw a pack of cookies when my dad said he didn't want them no more. My family has a business and we've always said that even if you're going through hell you gotta force a smile and treat your clients with kindness and respect. I just went over to pick up dinner there was at least 7 people on the back where all the meats and hot food are neither of them acknowledged that I was standing there for a least 3 minutes.. Honestly, I have tried loving this place. I was born in Mexico and I know what good Mexican food tastes like. Their food is pretty delicious, for that they get two stars. Their customer service is horrendous. When I first called to ask about catering, the man on the phone was rude and acted like my questions were a hassle. I still decided to give them a try, and I'm glad I did because they have yummy carnitas. Aside from this, most (not all) of the employees here are very rude. One of the men who works behind the hot food counter was speaking very lowly to me, and when I finally understood him, he skipped to the next customer. I'll keep it short and simple. I came to this meat market to purchase carne Cesina (thin beef jerky meat). Getting home I opened the bag with the raw meat in it and smelled disgusting! The meat smelled spoiled and felt slimy. I am sure the employees behind the meat department are aware of the smelly meat they're selling. Honesty and ethics is key! Why risk your customers health. Consumers purchase at your own risk. Perhaps taking a whiff of the product before you purchase if you're still considering buying from there. read more

What surprised me, was that other people, waiting to place order agree with us about her attitude, aparenty she treats all customers the same way.
