    Omelette de Pommes de Terre

The French toast was delicious and the perfect serving size for a breakfast entree. I'm not the biggest fan of French style omelettes so it wasn't my cup of tea, but I can still appreciate the good quality of ingredients used. The service was friendly but not the most attentive. We were missing a set of cutlery and our water pitcher was not filled when needed. Fortunately the food came out fast and the patio was a gorgeous place to enjoy the meal.

One of my favorite spots for breakfast in Berkeley! It's first come first serve so get here early if you don't want to wait. The restaurant is so cute and makes you feel like you're in Europe, definitely on the smaller size. I wouldn't come here front a big group since it's tight, 2-4 person table is perfect. The food is always amazing, can't go wrong with any of the pancakes!

La Note is quick, polite, and highly recommended. The service is spectacular. Honestly, any restaurant owner in the Bay Area could learn something from their house manager in terms of service. This place runs like a well-oiled machine, considering its popularity. We only waited about 10 minutes, and from ordering to finishing our meal, the entire experience was under an hour. The vibe and decor are incredibly charming. La Note will effortlessly transport you to France. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the roasted tomatoes. The gingerbread pancakes are also incredible.

I have been trying to try this place for a long time. Thanks to our friends that lived in the neighborhood, we were able to do so for Sunday brunch get together. The place was crowded, some tables were so closed to each other that you're within arm's reach to other patrons. So seating was a bit uncomfortable. Service was good. Our server was friendly and energetic. The menu was extensive and had lots of choices. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I went with the Les oeufs Madison with bacon and a crème fraiche pancake. The bacon and the home fries were very good! The pancake, I felt was a bit dry. Everyone was pleased with their food. I would consider coming back to try other things on their menu.

We went as a party of 5 and went on a weekday so thankfully didn't have to wait. Highly recommend the Cote Nord if you're a fan of creamy cream cheese. I'm usually not a fan of tomatoes but they were perfectly grilled and spreadable on the toast. My friend also got the Cote Ouest with ratatouille for any tomato lovers. A convenient brunch spot close to campus, but I would say it's not worth waiting longer than an hour for. Thankfully we were lucky and didn't have to wait since we went on a Monday. I've been turned away before as a party of 2 for not having a reservation. Will satisfy your brunch cravings but nothing stand-out.

The service and fare were outstanding! My Dad is a regular and I hadn't been in a while. Delicious hot chocolate, and my Dads fav, raspberry oatmeal. LOL. I just had some toasted baguette. Lite appetites today, but great service!

To Whom this may concern: So, [Our,son] Chris recommended this Breakfast place , off of Shattuck ave [2377- to be exact] A small but cozy spot, Very Nice, as we entered this place. My Bride [Maria] order the French toast, with Coffee. Maria usually order's Tea, but this time she choose the Coffee. She was really, Happy about the freshness of the coffee. Myself, I had the English Breakfast tea, & the "Lemon & Ginger pancake, with Pear & Blueberry compote" Very Nice, We got there early, an by the time we left, the place [with 3 cooks on the Grille] was packed. Nelson, was our Host, server, what a delightful, young man, It seemed like he was in "Command" of the whole dinning room? He has a wonderful disposition, [Thank you], The two us ate there for about $60 dollars without tip. Thank you, again

This is my second time at La Note. I came about 3 years ago and then just came again. Honestly the first time I came I was underwhelmed, but I decided to try again. Unfortunately I didn't realize it but I ended up ordering the same thing on my second visit haha so I still feel the same way. I got the ginger pear pancakes. The flavor was good but they aren't very fluffy and feel a bit dry to me. The side of eggs and bacon I got though, were cooked perfectly. And my partner got the ratatouille and it was delicious! I would come back for that! Service was also great!

Got here 10min before it opened and got seated right away. It wasn't as busy since we went during the week. The staff were really nice. The restaurant is small but it was cozy vibes and cute decor. The food was delicious. Had to get a pancake for the table and it was as tasty as everyone says it is!

Lemon Gingerbread Pancakes and Poached Pears, 1 Egg, 3 Strips of Bacon
    Kurtis W.

My wife and I had brunch here this weekend. It's usually a popular place on the weekend, but the rain closed down the outdoor seating so lines were long. But the wait was worth it. We shared our brunch, got the pear and gingerbread pancakes which was an interesting combination but totally worked. You can really taste the gingerbread but it's not overwhelming. The eggs and bacon were fine. But the French toast was great. You could taste the subtle orange blossom which the bread was soaked in. If we had to find something to improve upon it would be that we couldn't really taste any lavender in the latte. The servers were really busy and it was a bit hard to get anyone's attention to get our check. But it was still a great brunch.

Three and a half stars... the bump up to 3 1/2 stars was due to the hostess was very accommodating and the serving staff for tending to the needs of the guest gets two thumbs up. La Note has such a calm, cozy vibe that I really wanted to love everything... but that lemon gingerbread poached pear pancake did not love me back. I came in after class, sat on the back patio, and the setting was actually perfect: quiet, a little French café energy, and my bacon came out exactly how I asked--crispy and delicious. The pancake, though, was a miss: dry in the middle, weird texture, and the lemon + gingerbread + pear combo just didn't come together, even though I could taste the gingerbread. It sounded amazing on the menu but ate like way too much happening on one plate. The tiny bathroom situation with all the door handles you have to touch was also not my favorite. I'll be back to try their regular pancakes, eggs, and more of that perfectly cooked bacon, but I'll definitely stick to something simpler next time. The vibe, bacon, and patio are pulling them up, that tragic pancake and the tiny germy bathroom are pulling them down, so 3/4 with a I 'll be back to try something else note feels fair. Okay, they get bumped up: servers were great, bacon perfect, vibe lovely--still dock them for that tragic pancake and the tiny, germy bathroom. 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed halves, but flat 3 stars is honest. I wanted to love my first visit

I've dined at this restaurant twice and I am blown away every time. The interior of the restaurant is so inviting and quite charming. Even though there's a bit of a wait, I believe the quick service and quality food are worth. I came here with my mom and sister and wanted to try a bit of everything. The opted for a savory salmon sandwich. I got the eggs with bacon, herb potatoes, and toast. We all split the pancakes which were divine. The pancakes were perfectly spiced, fluffy, and were tapped with delicious pears. Every bite was so delicious and flavorful. The servers were quite attentive and frequently checked on our table. Even with the dreary weather outside, we were met with bright service.

We remember being told one morning that the patio was not yet open. Is there a delay on opening every day, or was that not an ordinary day at La Note?

    Are pets allowed on patio?

Yes, in the outdoor patio area. Not much space since tables are very close to each other so be courteous of others.

Are reservations required or can I walk in?

You can do both. The last time I went, I just walked in.

Are you open for dinner now?

Unfortunately not. La Note opens at 8AM daily and closes at 2PM on weekdays and 3PM on weekends.

Do they also serve from the dinner menu, although they are currently open only during the lunch hours? Thanks!

    No they don't!!! I asked :(

    Is there outdoor dining?

Hello Barbara, Yes our patio is open daily. We except reservations during the week and on the weekends for larger parties. We are planning on staying open throughout the winter weather permitting as well.

Yelp, site and voicemail says take out is available. When I called the person that answered said they couldn't make a take out order? Is take out not available?

    It's local only.

How close is this restaurant to zellerbach, also how is the parking?

Parking isn't great, it's all street parking and depending on where you go it's either 2 or 4 hour (at $2.50/hour). It's a half mile to Zellerbach Hall. I'd probably park in one of the garages nearer to Zellebach, then walk down, and maybe take a… Read more

Is it good for a baby shower?

It depends on how many people are coming. Their service is limited and slow; if for 6 I would say yes; but anymore would not be fun. remember the place is small.

Do they have a bar or community table for singles?

There is no community table for singles. A party of one is seated at a table for two. There is a bar area, it is not used to seat people there.

Do you do reservation for brunch?

Yes! I was able to make a reservation for brunch. Just go on their website.

Is it possible to make a reservation for Saturday lunch/brunch for two?

You can several days in advance online too. I made plans w my girlfriends and made reservations for three plus a baby!

Has to be! I don't think it would be allowed to operate with a score this low, besides this restaurant is totally clean; I've never had any issues concerning clean utensils, bathroom or tables.

We took advantage of this option because one of our party does not eat fish or lamb. The café upstairs is more casual and items can be ordered à la carte from the seasonal menu. I enjoyed my Sonoma duck breast and carrot soup, but the winner was the cardamom mousse. I highly recommend any dish that features fresh produce, especially the bowl of fresh fruit for dessert.

When friends or classmates would tell me they dined here, I was like, " Wow, so boujee. Fast forward to today, and I had the opportunity to go for my Mom's birthday! My family made reservations, which are hard to come by. They need to be made well in advance. We arrived before our 8:30pm reservation and, unfortunately, weren't seated until after 9:00pm. Once inside the dining area, it was lively and loud, intimate, and somewhat more formal compared to their upstairs cafe. Service from all staff was kind; the host occasionally stopped by; our food was delivered, and we were checked on throughout. It was also lovely to peek inside the open-air kitchen. If you dine in their dining area, it's prix-fixe. On my Mom's birthday, they had a salad, pasta, steak, and ice cream. The salad was good--I don't eat mushrooms, but found it tasty and a bit over-dressed. My favorite was the pasta, a little spice. Warm from the noodles but cold from the cheese--the shrimp was nicely cooked. For our entrée, we had a rib-eye. I don't eat steak, but for this occasion I did--it was good, but because I rarely eat beef, I couldn't compare it to other rib-eyes I'd had. The vegetables were good and quite fresh. I gave the ice cream to my family since I don't have dairy, but the fruit was great! Overall I enjoyed more dishes than others. The bread and drinks were also good. I'd be curious to come back for a different prix-fixe. Chez Panisse is a must visit once restaurant in my opinion--whether you're local to the area or live in the Bay Area. Alice Waters is famous and has won a multitude of awards for a reason. I'm happy to have finally dined here and celebrated my Mom's birthday. The restaurant is off Shattuck Ave. with street parking around.

When looking for a restaurant to celebrate graduation, I had the following criteria in mind: (1)…read moreincredible food; (2) fancy yet relaxed ambiance; (3) located in the East Bay. As a huge fan of French cuisine, I'd been following RÊVE for years and decided to book a table for the graduation dinner. I made a reservation about three months in advance just to be safe, since the restaurant only has about eight indoor tables. The restaurant was tucked away in a nondescript strip mall, but upon entering through the side gate, I felt like I was stepping into a Parisian neighborhood bistro. Our friendly waitress walked us through the menu and seasonal specials and even pointed out the can't-miss dishes. Thank goodness we followed her advice - the frites were among the best I've ever tasted! We debated ordering another cone of frites but decided to pace ourselves because we also ordered the gougères, RÊVE salad, and escargot to share. Additionally, we received complimentary fresh baguette and butter. For my main dish, I decided to try the quenelle, which can be described as a soft dumpling made from seafood purée that resembles a velvety soufflé. Every bite had a rich seafood flavor that, even now, I can't stop thinking about. Even though we were quite full after dinner, we were tempted by the dessert menu and decided to split the chocolate mousse and French opera cake. Both desserts were exquisite - they were small portions but packed a lot of richness without being overly sweet. Our dinner was made extra special by the restaurant staff, who remembered that we were celebrating a graduation and signed a card for us. From the team going above and beyond to the excellent meal, this was one of the best meals I've had this year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I'm ready to take this street and head straight into the heart of Rome, or Berkeley so to speak,…read moreespecially if the food is this deliciously prepared as it is at Via Del Corso! Located in the heart of Berkeley's trendy North Shattuck business area that covers most of the northern part of the busy thoroughfare of Shattuck Avenue, Via Del Corso comes from owner Peter Chastain, a local restaurateur who made sure to save a longtime favorite local restaurant that was known as Corso, in a prine dining destination. Chastain did so by assembling an amazing team that guaranteed authentic cuisine that could be found not in just one but throughout many regions in Italy, much in part thanks to Chef de cuisine Massimo Orlando, who brings his heritage from northern Italy into all of their dishes. What brought me and two other diners here on a busy Saturday evening was the buzz that has been constant ever since they opened Via Del Corso in the summer of 2021 and we wanted to see what it was all about. Reservations on the OpenTable even a mere two days out were actually easy to make, as we arrived a few minutes late and they were still gracious enough to take our party and seat us with a view of their open kitchen, where no fewer than five chefs were cooking up a storm all evening long. The dinner menu at Via Del Corso is separated into categories including Spuntini, which are little bites; Antipasti e Insalate, which are their Appetizers and Salads; Primi Piatti or first course dishes; Piatto del Giorno or Dish of the Day; Secondi Piatti or second course dishes; Contorni or sides; and Dolchi or desserts. To start our meal we decided to order their Insalata di Polpo, which was their poached octopus served with Yukon gold potatoes, Gaeta olives, celery, sweet onions, and topped with lemon and extra virgin olive oil. Served with the perfect amount of umami and flair this starting dish was the perfect starting dish and made us eager for more of what Via Del Corso had to offer. As for the second course in our meal, we knew we wanted to share in their deliciously handcrafted pasta entrées, and it was recommended by our server Mike to order their signature pasta entrée, their Ravioli con Spungnole e Fave, which were their fresh pasta raviolis filled with sheep's milk ricotta, served with fresh morel mushrooms, fava beans and topped with Parmigiano cheese; and then we ordered a half portion of their Tagliatelle al Ragu which is their fresh egg pasta topped with Emilian meat sauce and Parmigiano Reggiano. For our main courses, we decided to split two entrées, their Petto d'Anatra con Ciliegie e Balsamico, which was their seared duck breast topped with their balsamico condimento, blistered cherries, and sautéed spinach; and their Bistecca di Manzo alla Griglia which is their Grilled Prime New York Steak served with rucola, lemon, and shaved Parmigiano. We also opted to have it served with Lardo which was a film of buttery garlic and cost an additional four dollars. The pastas would be presented to our table first and they were two of the most lovingly crafted pasta dishes we have enjoyed in some time. The real star recommended their ravioli as the were a meal unto itself with beautiful triangle shaped pouches filled with fresh cheese topped with unique mushrooms combined with an unbelievably tasty sauce. At 60 dollars our Bistecca was a wonderfully composed dish that was served with an elegantly composed arugula side dish and would have been a wonderful solo entrée to enjoy. The seared duck was a nice heavy dish that I most likely would not order a second time, as we saw the halibut being a nicely composed dish from a table far away, and nothing but good things about their signature pork chop. With a total bill of $194 for five dishes, a return visit would be a must to Via Del Corso, as we found this restaurant lively, in a good way, the service attentive, and most importantly the food prepared in a way that would make us come back for many more return visits. A neighborhood gem that everyone can enjoy!

Delicious food. I started with an olive oil infused martini. Perfection. I had the tuna carpaccio…read moreand then the pork chop. Both were great but the pork chop was the best I've ever had, ever. Perfectly cooked, moist and seasoned so well. Their service is knowledgeable yet not over bearing. I've been twice. There's one husky guy who's been quite bristly both times. Maybe he needs a fernet. I don't know. Hope to go back in the future.
