We came on a Sunday night around 6pm and the place was crowded, but we got a seat right away and service was very quick. The food was superb. My girlfriend and I shared the Bandeja Mario which was something of a sampler platter and had a little bit of everything on it. Our friends had the Entraña and their son had the Pechuga de Pollo Apanada and all were incredibly filling and incredibly delicious. We washed it all down with a pitcher of sangria. Incredible food, great and fast service, wonderful atmosphere. Absolutely would come again the next time we're in town.

Granted these are small charges, but the overall feeling we were left with was a bad taste. The bill turned out higher than what we initially expected and was no bargain considering we didn't even order an alcoholic beverage. It felt like we were paying a sucker surcharge.

I been going to la Nueva for years without complains but today was so different. So I went there today and i ask for a dozen of facturas(sweets) and the girl, which for the accent I could tell she was colombian, which surprise me more because they have such positive attitude. When i ask for the facturas she tells me with a nasty attitude that they didn't have the box where they usually put the facturas, so she basically threw the sweets in a very bad looking plastic. Later in the cashier she tells me the price and I said if she could please add a budin my mom picked. At that moment she gave me a look with an ass face like saying why the fu** didn't you said that before, at that moment i was feeling really mad. So, since I also ordered coffee, i had to go to another table where another person gives the coffee. When I look back I notice that she was putting the food the person behind me order(which by the way was colombian) in the nice box she told me she didn't have. there is no words to explain how mad I was i think i even had palpitations at that moment. experience bad nasty attitude and racism was enough for one day. Service is pretty good, especially if you have been going to them for a while, and once they get to know you better. They have a nice mix of South American products, and its a nice place to hang out, unless its New Years day, where the place becomes havoc because of the amount of people there. The only downsides would be that they dont have everything that you need at all times, and if you are unlucky, you get outdated pastries/food. Just be warned La Nueva Bakery is not a friendly neighborhood bakery. The workers are very rude! I went to pick up some sauces for 2 dozen empanadas which they forgot to include $66.00 total and refused to give me any. Not even a few sauces... such a shame have been visiting this place for years but not anymore. RUDE EMPLOYEES. None come more decorated than the Colombian national dish, bandeja paisa, in which their version (bandeja especial el pilón) comes with a chicharrón stick, chorizo, carne asada, topped with an egg and avocado, over rice, beans, plantains, and an arepa. The ground beef (carne molida) version is through their bandeja montañera, pechuga empanizada, bistec encebollado, and a fine bowl of their sancocho de costilla, costillas guisadas, or the sopa de pollo.
