Just a random taco shop off Pearblossom highway. As usual scoped out yelp and this place had higher ratings with good reviews, so I'm here to add to that. We had the carne asada and Al Pastor. They are street sized on 2 corn tortillas, with great portions of meat, topped with onions cilantro, salsas and side of a lime. At about $1.85 a piece it's a great value. We also ordered the OG coca cola with real sugar *note these bottles are 500ml, so share! The location is very old, and looks more like a house, but don't let that side track you for tacos! My favorite Mexican restaurant in California....and that says a great deal. I have had their Menudo, carne asada buritos, beans and, well, what can I say but delicious! But wait. What they really master here is (you may want to sit down for this one because it's a shocker) THE LA PALMA SAUCE!!! Only on the weekends can you find this most delicious and secretive sauce. Masterfully cooked with their chicharonn/carnitas inside a saturated homemade corn tortilla...yes, a taco. This is not La Palma sauce from the can like most places serve (blasphemy!). The place is small, old and humble, AND very clean. If you're looking for that corporate "let me talk to the manager" El Torrito, with extra guac and no character serving not Mexican food, and fake vibe place, keep your @ss driving. This is a hidden gem and should be respected as such, at least I do. They have 2 locations but the one on Pearblossom Hwy is the one I go to. I may have given them a review on another app, but it is worth my time to give this review. Don't go hungry because it takes about 20+ minutes (cash only). So bring a tallboy in a paper bag and sit in your car (currently no dine-in) with the AC going and have some crunchy chicharonnes with their mild tan salsa. Great, now I'm hungry.... We've been to La Palma a number of times and it never disappoints. The actual place is rather small and not fancy. They have 5 tables inside and I'm not sure how many are in the back...never been to the back. Anyways who cares it's all about the food! The food is authentic mexican food, no Acapulco or El Torito here. We absolutely love the menudo, chicarron, carnitas and the freshly made tortillas... so yum!!! The menudo is clean and does not have a thick nasty layer of fat on it. Today, we arrived later in the day and the chicarron was sold out. The staff is super friendly and treat you like your family. They even give you extra food to try. We were served the Palma taco it tasted like the tortilla was dipped in mole, not my fav but ok. This place is a must! We make the drive from San Fernando to Palmdale just to eat here or on our way home from Vegas. Definitely worth the drive. read more

Don't get the menudo, it has a really bad smell. They don't clean it rite. My mom got it, we asked the lady at the counter if we could change it because it had a really strong smell. Let's start off with I do not favor Menudo. I will eat it but it's not my cup of tea. However after having tried La Palma Menudo with the hand made tortillas ‍ the best! This is the only place that we come to get menudo. The place is rough but the food. I usually call it in, the ladies are always supper sweet and courteous. I had been fishing all morning and decided I needed to eat. I hit yelp and discovered a place only a few minutes from the Aqueduct. I have driven down the SH 138 many times on my way to Las Vegas and had never noticed this place before. As I pulled up the place looked a bit run down. I was a bit concerned but decided to give it a try. Upon entering I saw several guests eating and the food looked great. I was in. I decided to order the Carnitas Combo. The lady who took my order at the counter was very nice! It is cash only but do not worry as the prices are very reasonable. The seating was family style so you may have to share a table. I sipped my Mexican Coke (so good) and was served in a very few minutes. I could not have been more pleased! The Carnitas were succulent and perfectly cooked. As good as I have ever had! I had plenty of tortillas that were soft and excellent. I topped the tacos off with onions, cilantro and a very nice hot sauce'. The beans were home made and the rice was good once I covered it with their great salsa. This little place got very crowded in a few minutes. My guess is they were locals. Do not let the condition of the exterior scare you off. Try this place out, it is truly authentic home style Mexican food at it's best. We passed by this place. It is a little hole in the wall, but we decided to give it a try. Sometimes those places have the best food. We were wrong. The menudo had a very strong smell. It stunk!! We eat menudo all the time and this one smelled so strong that it was hard to eat and we left most of it behind. We also did not receive the condiments for the menudo for some reason. I ordered a half pound of chicharron and received one piece for $14. The lady was calculating on paper and she stole our money. I didn't want to ask because I was embarrassed, but other reviews have mentioned the same thing. They are extremely expensive, cash only, no working air inside. It's hot and musty in there. First time here with my family and due to the good reviews I wanted to try. It is a old looking building but I felt comfortable inside it's pretty cool wall pictures were nice too. I didn't see the bathroom so can't comment. I ordered a burrito, some tacos etc. The kids enjoyed their meals but for me the meat is funny tasting not sure because of seasoning or the kind of meat used but it tasted funny like liver. Driven past this place lots of times and wondered if it was any good. Today as I drove past, I quickly Yelped it and decided today was "the" day. Parking is plentiful as it is pretty much a big dirt lot. I was pretty excited to park under a big shady tree. I wasn't sure which door to enter, as there are two. I found out that either door is fine. The interior was just what I expected for a "hole in the wall" restaurant. There was seating for approximately 14-20 people. The menu had a list of meats that you choose for whatever item you order. I asked Armando (I really hope I remembered his name correctly) what he recommended. He said his favorite was the Asada. You pretty much can't go wrong with that, right? He also recommended Chicharron. I placed an order to go. We ended up getting 3 tacos (Chicharron, Asada and Carnitas) and one burrito(Asada). The tacos are served on the small tortillas and come with your choice of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa. My favorite was the carnitas. The burrito has your choice of meat, beans, cilantro, red sauce, onions and cheese. The burrito was so good. Everything tasted so fresh. Armando was really nice and friendly. He mentioned that on the weekends they serve Menudo. And on Sundays his dad grills chicken which is served in the late afternoon. One important thing to note, the salsas are pretty spicy. My new favorite taco place! Came here with my husband and our two children on a Friday afternoon. The tables were all full but there was no line. We ordered our food and sat at a table with a gentleman who was already seated (he invited us). Our food arrived quickly but was super fresh and hot. We ordered two drinks and our son didn't want either drink. We went back to the window to order him a different drink and the owner just gave us a horchata free of charge. She later also brought us some rice and beans free of charge for our toddler who was asleep when we arrived. The food here is amazing and most importantly the service and hospitality is awesome! My wife and I moved to the antelope valley. We went to the swap meet near by and we wanted menudo. We saw the high reviews here and came down. We walked in and said "cash only" - we had to drive back into town for an ATM. My is adamant in trying the food. It's a small place and dusty, I did my best to hold my sneeze. The menudo came out, we asked for no "pata" when we placed our order (large for 13.99). The lady put the bowls on the table, and fished out the patas with the spoons. So now we have "less" menudo, might as well gave us our money for a small bowl. I kind of lost my appetite. I did order one taco of carnitas, $2.50, it was tiny. If you are looking for true authentic Mexican food this is your place! Family owned, little place off of Pearblossom Hwy. you have to stop by if you are on your way home or driving by. We travel to Laughlin quite a few times a year and always drive by here, after years of driving by we decided to stop and check it out. I was very please with the food, don't expect a fancy place but it's clean and the food is great! My husband is a picky Mexican when it comes to food. He always asks for his carne asada taco meat extra burnt and picks through the meat to take out the fat still he always has to send them back in other places.
