Let's start with the pros. This place has amazing food! Hands down the best menudo I've ever tasted. I live 45 minutes away and let me tell you, it's worth the drive. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The service is outstanding! Everyone is real friendly and helpful. They treat you like family. There's plenty of parking, and plenty of seating. It's kid friendly. Now let's talk about the cons: it's a cash only establishment and there's no ATM nearby so have plenty of cash on hand. The only real complaint I have about this place is the set up. It needs to be updated. The tables are made of pressed wood and therefore are sticky. They're clean, but sticky. I don't like that. There's another room in the back of the restaurant (you literally have to walk outside to get to it) with additional tables and chairs but the floor is basically pebbles. The additional room is made of wood. This makes the place look cheap. It's kind of a shame because this place has amazing food/customer service but it looks cheap and unkept. Great food! This place is disgusting. Mold all over restaurant. Flies everywhere. I don't know how people can eat here. They don't clean menudo it smells so bad. I guess people like it here because they let them bring in their own alcohol. With the high prices they should clean the place up a little. read more

I'm writing this review instead of filing a POLICE REPORT. I was served a refill of horchata that contained a chemical in it presumably like a dish detergent. I noticed it immediately after the first swallow when I began to sting and get tingly and warm. I probably wouldn't be writing this were it not for the lie the older woman told me. She came out with a green plastic pitcher about 5 minutes after I reported the situation to tell me that the green pitcher was the only pitcher she used for the horchata and that it was clean. But I had taken note that the pitcher she poured the refill from was a clear plastic pitcher - because I was surprised at how clear and watery the refill horchata was as she poured it into the opaque styrofoam cup. So had she not come back to embroider her story - which is a common trait of those who lie - I probably would have left it go. Why it happened, I can't say. Was it because I questioned a charge on the bill (she didn't inform me of the upcharge for handmade tortillas)? Or that I hadn't yet left a tip? Or was it simple carelessness? Take your pick. BUT I WON'T BE GOING BACK. I would rate the food overall 3.5 stars. The beef was dry (though plentiful) in the caldo de res, the handmade tortillas were pedestrian and heavy, the first horchata was good but average, and the al pastor tacos were excellent. It's now 2 hours later and I'm still feeling the burn and my chest is heavy - fortunately it's not getting worse. Had I gone to the police or the health department, she would have just denied it. So I Yelped it. BUYER BEWARE! 08.22.17 UPDATE: I filed a complaint with LA County Environmental Health "MORBIDITY" Department (who knew?). This is SERIOUS to me. Fortunately I am much better today. But yesterday was fraught with pain from the incident, a doctor's visit, and much worrying (it's the only body I have). It actually felt like a scene from the movie Psycho, the old lady in this restaurant playing the Tony Perkins role of his murderous mother. It really was that strange! If you are looking for true authentic Mexican food this is your place! Family owned, little place off of Pearblossom Hwy. you have to stop by if you are on your way home or driving by. We travel to Laughlin quite a few times a year and always drive by here, after years of driving by we decided to stop and check it out. I was very please with the food, don't expect a fancy place but it's clean and the food is great! My husband is a picky Mexican when it comes to food. He always asks for his carne asada taco meat extra burnt and picks through the meat to take out the fat still he always has to send them back in other places. La Palma got it right the first time and he did not have to pick through the meat! We love it and will be back every time we drive through here!!! read more

Very, very good Mexican food. Don't judge the place by its bare/simple looks. I got an al pastor burrito and it was quite tasty. The cilantro in the burrito was chopped fresh (I could tell), and the al pastor meat was the best I've had so far in the AV. A super sweet and kind lady (I'm mad I forget her name) made conversation with me the entire time, and constantly made sure everything was OK. Granted, I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time, but she still was very eager to talk to me about her family's ways and practices behind their food. The restaurant also has a very unique yellow-colored salsa which tastes almost citrusy and possibly fruity, but the lady said it's simply their own special recipe made with tomatillos! I've been to the other Yelp top-rated Mexican restaurants in Palmdale and Lancaster, such as Tortilla Grill and Guadalajara. La Palma beats them in my opinion. (To be fair, Guadalajara is also pretty good, just not quite as good as La Palma). Overall, a must-try if you live in the AV. Great food and people both. read more

Nestled on the Pearblossom highway La Palma is a little hole in the wall that you would probably miss unless you were a hungry/hungover mess like myself. It seriously is grungy as hell from the outside, but do NOT let it deter you. My significant other and I were greeted by the sweetest Mexican lady. Everything in this spot is very authentic. I ordered the carne asada burrito and my SO ordered an assortment of tacos. I made my way to the salsa table and made sure I tried all three salsas. Our food came in a timely manner. We only had to wait 5-10 minutes. BTW - cash only. But if you have a hungry stomach, and 10$ in cash you would have more than enough to fill you up at this spot. Tacos were a dollar and change and my burrito was $5.75. We sat by the kitchen and saw an abuelita cooking away. I knew I was in for a treat. Let me tell you, the carne asada burrito was the best burrito I have had in a LONG time. What made this burrito special was the lack of rice and how flavorful the beans were. I don't think I will ever order a burrito with rice ever again. Their carne asada was very flavorful, well cooked and everything was very fresh. Their burrito was so flavorful it didn't even need the accompanied salsas. I loved the salsa rojo though. It was a perfect acidic and spicy accompaniment to the well executed burrito. The chicken taco was whatevs to me but the chorizo taco was pretty bomb. The burrito was so good I could've ate 2. FYI - They are closed on Tuesdays and on the weekdays close at 6pm. Everyone come here for the menudo, bomb. But I come here for the Plato de trocitos de puerco con salsa verde, With rice and beens it's super bomb. Only thing it's that it's super pack, so I suggest you place your order over the phone so when you get there the food is ready. I place my order to go because it's a small place I'm just a person that can't enjoy my food in a crowded place. That's just me tho. Tacos the La Palma are unique and one of a kind. I finally decided to eat here after my friend kept talking about it. We went for lunch around 12:50. The place looks really old & needs an upgrade. It was busy which is a good thing for business. There was no room for us to dine in so we had to ask for our food to go. It took about 45 mins for us to finally get our food. Which is extremely bad when you have hungry family. I ordered a bowl of menudo & two lengua tacos. They also make homemade tortillas which is a big plus. The lengua tacos were pretty good. The meat was tender & full of flavor. The menudo also good but it wasn't better than my favorite spot. My son had a asada burrito & he said it was delicious. They also sell chicharones and of course we had to try some with tortillas. They taste so good with fresh tortillas. Overall, the food is pretty good. Unfortunately, it took way to long for us to get our food & we had to take it home. It's a cash only place so bring cash. I may come back one day. Definitely, not anytime soon!!! I rather drive to Lancaster & visit Jimmy at Tortilla Grill!!! It's a much nicer place. The is good & the service is quick!!! read more

First time here I woke up with a big craving for some carnitas so I made the drive carnitas did not disappoint have I had better ? Yes but these did satisfy my craving Little brother had some tacos they where delicious ! Now the biggest disappointment was the menudo so much hype and I was extremely let down for starters the smell threw me off completely it smelled like the tripe was not cleaned (not saying it wasn't cleaned my personal preference is them being over cleaned with no smell ) maybe I'm just not use to that smell either way that completely ruined it for me I would definitely not have that again but the tacos and carnitas where amazing I will definitely come back for that so much flavor yes a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for !! read more
