I never usually write these but I feel like I have to do this good service today! This last sunday, I went for a pleasant lunch at about 3 pm. It was such a great experience and I was incredibly impressed by the smooth operation of this establishment! Probs to all staff! My server Katelyn (I hope I have the correct spelling!) was so helpful and kind. She was so attentive and friendly. To management; you are truly lucky to have her on your team. You have made very wise choices on your staff! Furthermore..... the bus boy was very efficient and working hard! It's always nice to see young hard working kids! We will be coming here again! I've always passed by here but never had the chance to try it until one of my friends invited me to come out with her and some others :) I ended up ordering the Nachos, and they were actually pretty good! I'm not usually a Mexican food kind of person, so this was a pleasant surprise. The cheese was flavorful, and the ground beef and beans added so much to every bite too! And of course, you can never go wrong with sour cream haha. I wasn't planning on taking leftovers this time, so one of the servers recommended I get the small instead of the large, and I'm glad I listened! Even the "small" was still super loaded and filling. I was struggling to finish it by the end haha. All in all, I would definitely come back again and reorder the Nachos lol. One of our friends got the La Paloma Wings, and they looked so appetizing that I'm already thinking about trying those next time! The service was extremely horrible. OK so it was a 25 minute wait which we understand. After we asked for waters, it took us 15 minutes to get water. We ordered drinks get which we were slightly disappointed with but mixed drinks they are always a hit and miss at any place. We ordered our food. Never received it. We kept advising the waitress that we haven't done our food and also let her know that there were two tables were sat after us paid, are and left and we still didn't get anything. Then we were told there was no asada or no Carnitas. Which is fine because that's not what we ordered in any of our meals. The service was horrible. When we got our bill, they charge us for extra drinks which we never received which I had them correct. We live up the street from them and trust me. We will never ever go back. I am a resident of Claremont over 21 years. I had tried them twice and both times were not that great. We were hoping they had improved, but sadly dissatisfied. I really like La Paloma but I'm giving them a 1 star for their Burrito Ranchero, it sucked. Menu reads "a burrito filled with beef and pork chile verde", nope no verde. Just big hard tasteless chunks of pork with sauteed veggies, no verde no beans. Sorry, La Paloma. I'll be back though for something different. I use to work at the juvenile camp in La Verne and this was one of our place to go for Mexican food. Even though, I haven't worked in La Verne in over 10 years, whenever I had a chance to stop by and get my favorite burrito the Chili Colorado. Originally. the Colorado burrito was made with beef. Now its all pork. I was told they went from all beef to both beef an pork now its all pork. Why mess things up? If its for pricing just add a couple dollars on the beef. The prices have gone up, i know that's everywhere. However, the burrito have gotten a little smaller (only had about 5 chucks of meat) in a $19 burritos. I don't won't to pull the Race Card on why it was small but let's do better keep all customer happy. read more

I've driven past this spot countless times on Foothill Blvd. over the years, but this was our first time stopping in. Came here for a friends birthday and it was very good. My wife and I shared the Ultimate Fajitas and we still allowed some of the "ever hungry" teens enjoy some of the fajitas too. Big big servings. Headed out to celebrate a great victory and we wanted to try another Mexican joint than the one we normally go to. La Paloma's sign beacons kitschy charm from a bygone era. So does its interior. Now things got off to a rocky start, we were promptly sat and given chips and salsa, but no one came to take our drink orders for a solid 10 minutes. (Which was problematic due to the spice level of the salsa and my weakness) We contemplated walking out. Finally I summoned my inner Karen and asked a nice lady bussing tables if we had a server assigned to us. She took the initiative and promptly took our drink order herself (promote her). Now my husband's margarita was SUPER STRONG, so maybe that was the bar trying to make it right. But it was too strong, it didn't have the proper flavor. But once our server finally showed up we ordered and received our food very promptly. And it was AMAZING. First off we ordered the street taco appetizer, which may have been a mistake, because they were SO HEARTY AND DELICIOUS that when my entree finally came I had little appetite left. But everyone at the table was SO happy with their meals. My daughter INHALED her BRC burrito and my husband RAVED about his chimichanga, even the next day when he reheated his leftovers. I got the cilantro Lime chicken, and it was so very tender, but I probably wouldn't order it again because the flavor was not quite what I was expecting, it was kinda sweet, but still really good. Finally the beans and rice were a tad bland, just needed a little salt, but I set a lot of store by the beans and rice at a Mexican plate. They should be perfect. First off, I have to say I have been patronizing this restaurant since 1978 when I was just 16. I live 1.5 hours away now, but even when living out of state and coming for visits, I would often come here! Today I wanted to take my Mom to lunch, and it was exceptional start to finish. The hostess was very pleasant, even though I joked about them being out of the tamales that were offered as a special on their erase board! She did offer to check if I really wanted them for lunch and said they might have one of two left in the kitchen on the way to our table. Then we had the pleasure of being served by JoJo! What a truly pleasant experience! We had a 20 out of 10 experience. All Customers should be received the way she greeted us. From start to finish she was a shining star. 99.9% of servers could learn something from her nowadays! Now I have to speak about our meals...so, so delicious! I had the shredded beef chimichanga and my Mom had the enchilada supreme lunch but with red sauce. My Mom, talked about it all afternoon until I left this evening! March 20, 2025. There are many excellent Mexican restaurants in Southern California and then you have La Paloma. It doesn't get any better than the food here. Top of the line. Yes, a lot of other Mexican restaurants are good but they are not special. They will get the job done if you are hungry, but they're not special. They're mostly all very average in the way they do things in the kitchen. That's the difference with La Paloma. I'm lucky enough to have a grown-up in this area so I have been coming to the La Paloma since the 1970s. It's the real deal people. That's all you need to know. read more

We visited the restaurant after 30 years of not going because we moved, but we're back. Food was so great, great service, so fast, chips were warm, food was just as addictive as 30 years ago. A favorite of mine, Burrito Rojo, was still amazing with the velvety red sauce and tender beef, my happy place! Service was a 10, with drinks/chips/salsa in a few minutes. Refills were given promptly, just perfect. Not one bad thing. We're so excited to go here, it's our new favorite Mexican restaurant, again! To the family and staff running it, great job everything is perfect. We're coming back this weekend. You just can't find Mexican restaurants like this anymore. Came to have lunch with my mother, 86 years old, this past Saturday. The gentleman at the desk seated us was friendly and seated us at a booth as requested. Our server came by with chips and salsa and took our drink order. It took a while for the drinks, so I asked a busboy for a glass of water. He was right back with the water. We wondered what had happened with the drink order, as I could see our server in the bar. They finally came so I asked if we could order then, as I didn't want to lose him. I chose the taco combination for my mother from the kids menu, as my mother doesn't eat much, and soup for myself. We waited....and waited.....and waited. My mom was getting restless and wanted to leave. I was thinking the same but hung in there. I could see our server in the bar area, but he never came by to see how it was going, sorry the food hasn't come out, can I refill your water/tea, anything. We were both tired of the chips shortly after they were on the table. Not fresh, not warm...blah. Food finally came, and we had no issues. It was flavorful and hot. I thought tortillas would have been with the albondigas soup, but no. Funny, the server was right there with the check. Too bad he wasn't like that during our stay. We finished and when we went to the desk and the same gentleman who had welcomed us ask how everything was. I replied that the food was good and he asked if there was a problem. I explained about the service, and I also stated that I saw our server also working the bar (?), and the gentleman said that is no excuse for the server not to be attentive to his tables. He stated he would speak to the server. When I got home later in the day, I looked at the receipt and noticed my mother's meal was charged the amount for a One Item Combo at $16.50, not the Kids Menu Taco Meal at $11.00 (which I had pointed out on the menu when I ordered). AAARRRGGGHHHHHH My family has been to La Paloma many times over the years, but honestly this was a poor experience. My mom said she would never be back. read more
