Good cheap lunch Authentic tacos. Skip the rice and beans. Chicken taco is white meat. good, but could use more seasoning Chicken tinga, smokey flavoring, maybe Adobo. Not sure. Steak taco flavorful. Carnitas taco ok ,but not my fav. Chips and guac was good. But not $6 good. But avocado are expensive and it's homemade. Do yourself a favor and buy a churros. 1 is enough theyre like a foot long. I've never written a review on anything before but I had to make a special exception for this place. I read the reviews that it was already a bad spot but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try it out anyways, wow what a mistake that was. I ordered the carnitas tacos and the shrimp quesadilla and both were absolutely awful. Carnita tacos were so wet and greasy that when I went to pick them up the entire tortilla ripped in half and I ended up with a plate of mush and meat. For the shrimp quesadillas as soon as I go to open the to go container the first thing I see is grease, and lots of it. It was completely inedible and disgusting.. I spent about $22 here and it's money I'll never get back. Do not make the same mistake I did by giving this place the benefit of the doubt like I did. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Stopped in for lunch after driving by every day on my way to work. A colleague mentioned they had great breakfast tacos, so I thought lunch would be a worthwhile venture. There were signs posted throughout noting that the restaurant is under new management. I'm not sure when the change happened or what food was like before, but I thought it was really good. We got there at 11:15 and were the 2nd guests to arrive for the lunch hour. By the time we left at 12:15, every table was full of workers and families. I ordered the taco plate - 3 tacos with my choice of meat (8 or so choices available) plus rice and beans. For my tacos, I went with bistec, chorizo and lengua, fully dressed with chopped onions and cilantro. After paying, we waited at our table where we were served in short order. The beans were topped with a crumbling of queso fresco and the tacos had sliced radishes as well as lime wedges for squeezing. (YUM) They also brought bottles of salsa - green (which tasted like it was lettuce based) and red. Both packed a lot of heat but I very much preferred the flavor of the green salsa. Really really tasty. We didn't buy drinks, but asked for cups of water. Somehow we never got our cups but I think that was probably a lack of understanding regarding the process on our part because I saw that other guests had cups of water. If we'd wanted, there was also a case of homemade desserts (tres leches, flan, etc) for purchase. I was too full from lunch to think about dessert. I really liked La Paloma and it's a nice 2 minute walk from my office. If I had to choose, I prefer Jamal's tacos over La Paloma - but there are definitely many reasons why I would go to La Paloma again. The menu is more robust and, like I said, it's just a 2 minute walk. Plus the food is good! read more

Located just outside of Old Town Plano right next to a Mexican bakery. When it comes to taqueria I am always all about those street tacos. It must have a good, flavorful tender meat and spicy to very spicy sauce/salsa to top it off. The tacos in this taqueria is fairly decent. The meat is tender but they are stingy on onions and cilantro. The sauce doesn't have enough heat but good flavor. All in all it's a good place for a dent tacos. Plus they are open until 11pm. This is the taqueria that we compare all others to. We used to eat here many years ago before moving out of state. When you go to a place and see day laborers enjoying their lunches here. I had 2 tamales and one steak soft taco. I ordered the pork tamales and they were good. I'm kinda a wimp when it comes to a lot of spiciness so after eating just one tamale I gave the other one to my husband and he enjoyed it. Hubs got the BBQ taco and some other type of taco I don't recall. Both of us were really pleased with our meal. I caved in and got a slice of Tres Leche to go and it was good. I wish they offered plain cake instead of just chocolate or strawberry. Be careful if you go into the ladies room because you can easily fall on the floor like I did. The floor is at an unsafe slant and it could be a bad situation for the wrong person to fall. Overall we look forward to our next visit and will continue to recommend this place to anyone looking for a real taqueria style taco. read more

Really great street-style tacos. I liked the pastor best. Next time I'll skip the "3 taco place" - the rice and beans were nothing special - and just get 4 tacos. They also have Jarritos and Mexican Coke. I stay away from sugary soda, unless it's Jarritos. Try the Pineapple if you've never had one. I'm not a big fan of the squeeze bottles, but the sauces inside were good, especially the green. I can live with the squeeze bottles when tacos this good are a buck seventy five. read more

All perfectly cooked and delicious and LIGHT... you will not waddle out of here in a food coma like in the typical Tex-Mex place. The establishment has zero-minus atmosphere, looking like a former Taco Bell which maybe it was at one time. But you are not here for white tablecloths, ese. No question about it---this place has authentic Mexican cuisine. Street tacos but with more to them, a huge torta with big chunks of pork, a burrito that rivals the size at Chipotle and a large enchilada platter, all very reasonably priced. Good sauces in squeeze bottles plus typical bottled hot sauces. Had to go with bottles Jarritos sodas just because. Also tried a Boing! drink, which is kind of like a fruit juice in a soft drink bottle with guava passion fruit--different but tasty. The atmosphere is McDonalds-casual but with lively Mexican music playing through the speaker system, adding quite a bit to the authentic experience. Didn't have room for dessert but they had a nice display with several options. We showed up at 9p on a Friday night and were the second dine-in customers, but by the time we left several families showed up. I love the bistek tacos here ...scrumptious!! They are just good, clean, no-nonsense tacos that everyone should sample cause they make me so happy! The tacos are comprised of great quality steak shredded to pieces enveloped by soft, lovely corn tortillas. Also, the servers provide extra cilantro and onions for your food without you even having to ask for it. The cheese covering the beans is not ordinary mozzarella; its excellent. My father really loves their menudo so they get thumbs up from him as well. And, I do agree with Rosanna C., this place is more Mexican style than Tex-Mex ; now that's not a value judgement but for me it is a preference. Since its popular with my parents, I always get to eat here for free but I would definitely pay the more than reasonable price. It's definitely worth it! read more

I ate here last Monday during one of my Road Kill Luches. I ordered a three taco plate with bistek, pollo and carnitas. They were the typical Taqueria style on corn tortillas with only onions and cilantro. The plate came with rice and refried beans. There were a red and green salsa brought to my table in squeeze bottles to go with the tacos, but I just couldn't get into either one of them. This is unfortunate, as my tacos were extremely dry. I was also very put off by the sheer volume on the TV. I think it was the Mexican version of Price as Right, but it was so loud I couldn't even hear my brain tail bitching. They have a drive thru which is awesome...especially when you're on your way home and have dogs in the car and can't go anywhere but a place with a drive thru. This is a better option than a fast food joint. That said, there was good and bad with the order. The tacos were pretty good. I got some street tacos and was happy with the taste and quality of the food, along with the price. Chips and salsa, however, were awful. The chips were very thick and hard...almost like pita chips or something? I don't think I've ever had worse...especially at a mexican restaurant. Taco Bell does this better (And Taco Bell doesn't do anything better than anyone really). The salsa was average so I'd definitely not order those again. Pros: Authentic, cheap and they have a drive-thru for those times when you're still in your jammys and want tacos on a weekend and don't wanna get dressed. Cons: At the split on K Avenue so you have to quickly get into the left lane across traffic and double back around to get back home. For fast food this little restaurant rocks for Mexican food. They have two sauces at your table. The green is made from iceberg lettuce and jalapeños and the red is a dark red with a lot seeds. Disappointed in yesterday's visit. Noticed the remodeling and menu changes, but they also downgraded from silverware to plastic utensils. That wouldn't be so bad if the food was better. So, the main issue was the side of tortillas. It looked like each tortilla had fingerprints of mole sauce on each one. We offered a replacement, but we shouldn't have to reorder half our food. The cold enchiladas were already sent back and my fried eggs were runny. We used to be able to rely on quality food here, but it seems they have forgotten attention to detail. I hope they improve. Fantastic tacos! They're authentic street-style tacos, so if you're expecting what you'll get at Taco Bell then you won't be happy. But, if you're up for something more authentic, you'll really enjoy these tacos! The corn tortillas they serve them in are flavorful and wonderfully textured, and the fillings are varied and delicious. I tried the taco plate, which gives you 3 tacos and refried beans and rice. The sides are okay, but nothing too special. I went with a carnitas (pork), barbicoa (slow-roasted meat) and chorizo (sausage). Every one of them were fantastic, though I think the chorizo was my favorite. The hot sauces were really good too. They have a red sauce and a green sauce - the green was my favorite. But, use them sparingly at first until you decide how spicy you want things, because they pack the heat! I'll *definitely* be coming here again - my new go-to place for great tacos. read more
