Just WOW! My search for the best Tex-Mex is over because this is the spot. I was greeted and sat immediately on entering and even at 12:30 with the place packed it was spotless. They brought a large basket of perfectly crispy, warm chips with salsa and took my order. I got the #15 lunch special which is your choice of two enchiladas (I got sour cream chicken), rice and beans. The food was served quickly and at the perfect temperature. My enchiladas were bursting with chicken and the sour cream sauce was the perfect compliment. The rice was excellent as well. Even the iced tea is great, and featured a legit lemon slice. They have a full bar which I'll be trying on my next visit and two large TVs set where you can see one or both from any seat in the dining room. I told my server she's going to get sick of seeing me because I'll be here at least twice a week! Service was excellent by the way. My tea was even refilled without having to ask. Came here because of the high star rating! We were really excited since the place was packed. It feels alittle disorganized. We entered and no one says anything, lady came in after us waiting, shoving us to see if there is a list for waiting... like girl were the only two people in line. We got sat and the workers are very friendly, no problem there. Chips were good and came out crisp. I ordered the two taco plate. Taco shell was very stale, was very sad. The ground beef wasn't that good, chicken taco was better (surprisingly). Rice and beans were decent. Overall, didn't hate it here, but also not that great. There was a lot of people here and a lot of people waiting to be seated as well. read more

Since I have never been here before, I'm not sure if their tables and chairs are brand new but they are really beautiful. Custom made for this restaurant only. A Plano staple since 1996, this Mexican cocina definitely lived up to the good things I'd heard. Old school Mexican atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the Friday dinner patrons was already coming in early. The sizzling fajitas coming from next table smelled really good. This place is always packed during dinner time and on the weekends. Service is perfect with friendly servers. The ambiance is warm and cozy. It's a small but authentic restaurant with quality Mexican food. I don't drink much, but this is a beloved happy hour location too with coworkers. By noon on a Monday, every booth and half the tables were taken. The place was busy! Service was excellent. I ordered off the lunch menu; my wife ordered off the dinner menu. We've eaten here several times in the past year or two. It's a very small restaurant with lots of tables. It's often very noisy, especially with crying babies or people drinking and getting loud. Jenny was our server and even though they were extremely crowded, we didn't have a wait and we were treated with excellent service. The sangria was superb. Either I was in the mood for it more than normal or it was better than usual. I don't know which but I know that it was enjoyed thoroughly. It could be that's why this review is so good. It could be this is a sangria fueled review. I don't know but, moving on to the queso, which was the perfect compliment to warm fresh chips. Delicious! I have no idea what I ordered but it was yummy. Again, I think the sangria might be controlling the review. I pointed to a picture on the lower right, and Jenny said that it was on the next page toward the bottom. I looked it up. It is on the specialty menu called a steak picado. Chopped beef steak, cooked with tomatoes, onions,fresh jalapeños. Served with tortillas,rice and vegetarian refried beans. Wife had single fajitas mixed beef & chicken. While not as tender beef as in previous visits, everything was definitely fresh & flavorful. We did not try the flan which is made on premise. Full disclosure - I've only been here once and it was for my menudo fix. So freaking authentic! It tasted like my mother in law's (god rest her soul) recipe and came piping hot with beautiful pieces of tripe and just seasoning on par. Place was packed for lunch on a Saturday and it seemed like most were regulars. The portions were very generous for fairly reasonable price. Service was good despite how busy it was and the servers all seemed very on top of topping off iced teas and chip basket, which is my hubby's personal benchmark! Yesterday I wanted Mexican food. I googled it 'near me.' This is the number 1 place in Plano on Trip Advisor. It was surprisingly good on Spring Creek and Alma. El Pueblito. Really authenticate, good prices. At one point you could not get a table. Open since 1996. We got really good queso, half order of bean and cheese nachos. Also, a churro with caramel melted inside with vanilla ice cream. I definitely recommend the dessert. They were out of sopapillas. I guess they go fast. read more
