Not what I was expecting at all. I myself had Gorditas, which were delicious! Of course since we were there celebrating me I got to try a little of everyone's meal. Suffice to say I was not disappointed. At first glance the menu looks typical but once you delve in you realize you get a wide variety of Latin cuisine. We were there celebrating my going away and we never needed anything. Drink recommendations, food, whatever we needed our server was on it. The entire experience was perfect. They were practicing karaoke or a song on their stage. Boy did it serve for the perfect background to some amazing conversation and a great time with friends. I'll start by saying I like this restaurant is more of a bar that also serves food than a restaurant that also serves drinks... A cantina or pub maybe. Is this place clean? Not really, but not particularly dirty either. Was it cheap? Prices are fair but neither expensive not affordable. It's just a hole in the wall for the most part though it's bigger inside than you'd think from the narrow entrance. Is the service good? They're okay, as in they checked up on me a few times but weren't super warm or cold at all, and they seemed more distracted than anything. Was the food good? Yes, but there's a few things to know... First, this place isn't a Mexican restaurant, they're actually Central American, though they serve a lot of Mexican and TexMex food to cater to local tastes as well. Consequently, ordering their specialties get you the best they make with the most care. I ordered the Bandeja CentroAmericana, a pupusa, and a tamarind drink. The tamarind drink was a bit watery and sweet but not bad if you approached it like a standard lemonade. The pupusa was good, and they gave me lots of sauces and pickled cabbage/carrot, but I'm glad I fished that out first before touching anything because I realized they forgot to give me tongs. Kind of regret it because I wonder if anyone else has ever tried to get more pickles without a fresh fork before me :-( The main dish wasn't bad, one item on my platter had way too much cabbage, but for the most part everything else was seasoned well and generously meaty. The yucca needed to be boiled a little harder before frying, but this is typical and it wasn't terribly undercooked so not a deal breaker. All in all I finished the whole thing and it was very satisfying. It sits heavy though and I would be lying if I said I didn't get drowsy as heck afterwards. Tips? Come slightly early for dinner and the friendlier day crew is around rather than the decidedly more attractive but obviously unfriendly night crew does. Order Central American rather than Mexican. I am typically not one to give five stars, but this place has earned it and then some. My wife and I stopped by here for breakfast on Saturday morning and were instantly greeted with a smile. It was open seating, so after picking our favorite spot, we were given menus, tortilla chips, and the freshest salsa. The wife got eggs and ham (huevos con jamon) and I went with chorizo and eggs. First thing to note is if your are a Coke drinker, prepare to be served a glass of ice with a litre of Coca Cola de Mexicana in a glass bottle. For me, Coke in this form is the best as it contains real sugar in lieu of the corn syrup alternative. However, I am an ice tea kinda guy, for which they did not disappoint by way of bringing me a giant glass of ice tea. Seriously, it must have been a half gallon of ice tea. When the food arrived, both dishes were accompanied by Honduras style potatoes as well as refried beans topped with fresh goat cheese. I had asked for a side of tortillas for which they gave the option of corn or flour and I opted for flour. The tortillas were fresh, plentiful, and had just the right amount of char on them. The service was extremely friendly, the prices were a bargain, and the food brought me back to my childhood eating authentic Mexican food close to the Texas/Mexico border. Driving from DFW airport to Garland looking for a late meal is not easy. Other popular places close their kitchens at 10 or 1130. We came across this restaurant by chance and left with full bellies and music in our hearts. It was just past midnight when we had our meals and were serenaded by karaoke singers. There is nothing good about this place. My first impression was that the restaurant was dirty. Windows facing parking area were smeared as if someone started cleaning them and then forgot to finish. We sat ourselves down and right away noticed the sticky tables. After 10 minutes of not being acknowledged , we had to ask a waitress to bring us menus. She wasn't very friendly or efficient. We ordered taco plates. They were no big deal, the tortillas and rice were cold. Salsa is served in ketchup style bottles, which were also sticky. Not a restaurant that I would go back to. read more

I decided to give this place a try, I was with my daughter who's 12, niece 11 & my 2 yrs old son. It was the worse mistake ever. Customer service sucks, I was never greeted by anyone, waitress was too busy sitting down talking to a male. When she finally came to the table she just asked what we wanted to drink, never bothered to say hello or anything. I can hear her talking in a loud voice across the restaurant with this other waitress all kind of nonsense nothing to do with work more like gossiping & using inappropriate words in Spanish. When she brought the food to the table she was still talking across the restaurant using words like cabrona etc. instead talking to us. She didn't care I had kids with me very unprofessional. I've frequented Corazon Latino several times because of the delicious authentic Mexican food and cervezas fría. The staff is always friendly, consistently going above and beyond to accommodate the table. Gingros beware this place is the real deal! Non Spanish speakers may experience a language barrier, which in my opinion speaks to the authenticity of the cuisine. Recently, I reserved a party of 25 for a graduation party with Adrianna. The party went off without a hitch, which was a surprise because my family is particularly hard please. Great job staff, we couldn't have been more pleased! If you are giving this place a try I suggest the pupusas and vinegar slaw. read more

I created this yelp account just to rant on the horrible service this place has to offer. The food was okay, our server got our order wrong, which normally wouldn't be a problem but she never came to check up on us once. Our beverages were never refilled and all our server did was sit down at another booth the whole time talking to her friends. When it was time to leave it took her forever to bring our bill and when she finally did she didn't just drop it off she waited awkwardly until we were forced to sign the receipt.
