I really wanted to like this place. I went twice over the last few months and just felt it was lacking. The service was good, ambiance was okay for the space. The food was fine. I don't have any one big complaint. It just doesn't really hit with me when I'm looking for this type of cuisine. We went for the cocktail program. It's pretty standard for what you pay nowadays. The staff was awesome and super welcoming, and it was cool to hear they're from Mexico City--it definitely shows in the vibe and service. Food-wise, we tried the tacos de birria and tacos al pastor. The al pastor meat was really good--great flavor--but the tortillas were honestly a letdown since they tasted store-bought. That kind of takes away from what could've been a top-tier taco. On the plus side, their liquor and cocktail selection is amazing--definitely one of the highlights of the place. The rice and beans were also really solid, and the birria tacos were good overall. Only downside to the vibe... no Chente playing, which was a little disappointing. Dinner on a Tuesday. Love the ambiance and excellent service we received. Chips and salsa were fresh and delicious as usual. Started with guacamole but it was too mushy and not the flavor we remembered. We decided to finally try some different entrees from our usual favorites. Unfortunately these weren't the same quality as the entrees we are used to. Both entrees were a little cool like they had been sitting. The Suiza Enchiladas were ok but a bit bland. The Carne Asada my friends have raved to me about was not up to par. The meat was cooked medium vs requested medium rare and was chewy with gristle in 3 of the slices. It's a good place to visit. I come once a year when I visit family. However unlike California, when we say no rice, they won't let you sub for something else. We had an incredible night at the bar at Sueño in Richardson. Marco and his bar team absolutely crushed it, they all just exude genuine hospitality with great energy, and perfect pacing all night. Every drink we had was spot on, we just had to tell them what flavors we liked and they took over and nailed it. The food matched the drinks super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented (the Tacos de Camarón and Aguachile de Camarón were standouts). It's rare to find a spot that nails both the cocktails and the food, but Sueño does exactly that. You can tell they care about quality and service from top to bottom. We were hoping to find a gem for my husband's 30th birthday and Sueno more than delivered! You HAVE to come here if you love craft fresh fruit cocktails and fresh, beautifully plated Mexican food. Our drinks were strong but well balanced and sweet like I like it. The best part of our experience was our server, Jasmine. She was the sweetest and made our day so much special - she gave me a sample of the soup I ended up getting- so scrumptious, checked on us often (all the staff were great too) and she brought out a yummy tres leches cake. There are a thousand tex-mex spots in Dallas to go to, so you can definitely skip this one. The biggest issue here is the service. Our server was nice, but it was a full 15 mins before he even showed up at our table to say hi and take drink orders (we were seated right at 7:30, so it ended up being pretty easy to keep track of how long everything took). Another ten mins went by before we were able to ask our waiter again about our drinks. They came another 5 mins after that (30 mins after sitting down) with our appetizers. He took our food order then came back 10 mins after that to ask my friend what he had ordered because he forgot. Another 15 mins later our food arrived (about an hour after sitting down). The food itself was just fine. The queso appetizer had that weird gloopy cornstarch texture (see pic). The guacamole was just guacamole. Both lacked salt. My enchiladas were fine. The cheese on top had that weird plastic texture of fake cheese (see pic). The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of just 1 is because my friends really liked their food: birria tacos and seafood chili relleno. Shout out to the valet guy too. I was in town and meeting up with the cousins who frequent Sueno. I was pleasantly surprised by the setting and immediate service. Each server was so happy to be of assistance and made excellent suggestions. I had the shrimp tacos and also tried a birria taco. Both were really great and full of flavor. The highlights were the chips and salsa and churros. I've never had such delicious churros. Don't miss them. They also do a smoking Old Fashion that is impressive. Normally I would rate this place easy 5 stars however this is the first time me and my friends have been disappointed with the drinks and food. We have been going here for years as our go to favorite place but now with all the changes with the quality of the food and drinks I'm not sure how much we will be going back now. The cocktails we ordered didn't taste like they had any alcohol in them whatsoever just drinking juice, highly disappointed. Been drinking their Palomas for a while and that has gone downhill. The food: we all got the chile relleno which was a menu favorite for us however this dish is not up to par at all with how it used to taste. Instead of big juicy shrimp we got tiny bits of shrimp and now it has bits of scallops as well. The side of black beans and plain white rice was very underwhelming. They took away the cilantro lime rice which was so good. I know there is a new focus of the new location that will be opening up but it seems like this place is definitely taking a hit now due to this. I hope they get things back up to the standards they had before. Really miss the staff that was here before as it seems most of the staff here are all new. read more

If Yelp would let me do half stars this place would easily be 4.5! Their food is absolutely delicious. We got to the guacamole to start, mango juice, the carne asada, the chicken breast and churros for dessert. Everything is cooked, seasoned and made perfectly! The restaurant itself is really nice, they do a great job of creating an upscale atmosphere. The 3 things that I would change that drop it from a 5 star review are: 1. It's a personal preference but I don't like coke cans, especially not warm ones (even with ice). Fountain drinks taste better AND refills tend to be included. At the very least I wish they would have the cans refrigerated. 2. The service, while great in terms of making recommendations and being friendly, was a little bit slow. It took us a lot time to get the appetizer and then longer to the get the food and then the dessert took like 30 mins. The waiter did admit that there had been mix up (we never found out what exactly) but the reality is that everything, including the drinks took longer than what I am used to. 3. I want to start by saying I understand everything is expensive. That's just today's economy. But I do feel that for $40 the carne asada was a little pricey. I do feel that the $40 would be justified if they did something as simple as adding rice. The plate just felt kind of small in comparison to very similar restaurants (ie Mexican sugar or Vidorra). Still this isn't necessarily what would stop me because the food was cooked so well. Overall, I will absolutely be returning! I just need to be sure I allot enough time. read more

Amazing! From the second you walk in you feel taken care of. I first saw this place on Instagram and it took me way too long to check it out. The service was attentive and every time I've been it has been pretty busy! Have to give a shout out to the birria tacos and the house margaritas. Perfect marg for $10 is a steal! I honestly can't say enough about Sueño. My first visit there was to celebrate my 50th Birthday with my husband and daughter (who is a regular there) and I had the best night. The service from start to finish was 10/10. Our sever Allan was great, along with the manger who made a visit to our table after the wrong dish was prepared for me. We were able to chat with him again upon leaving and he was honestly one of the best managers we've ever encountered. The ambiance is quaint and clean. This place has been drawing a crowd ever since they first opened up. So much so in fact that we have always said, "let's try that place sometime". Tonight we finally tried them, and are we ever glad we did! We had a party of eleven and did not have reservations because the place we originally had reservations at had to close due to an unexpected problem. This place, although busy, got us right in and that was just the beginning of the great service we got here. The food here was really good too. I got the Shrimp Tacos, but also in our party, we ordered Queso, Guacamole, Nachos, Brisket Tacos, Steak, Quesadillas, Steak, and Flautas. Everyone was very happy with everything we ordered. First time visiting Sueno, upon entering parking is all valet in the front and limited, you have to park over on the other side of empty businesses if you don't want valet. Entering the place looks nice and well kept, staff at front and servers very nice and communicates well. For dinner I started with the Mixed Feelings cocktail, very fresh and tasty and would come back for more of that in a big glass. Chips and salsa very yummy as well and salsas nice and thick and blended well. For entree I had the brisket tacos and they were good but a let down, my tacos were soggy and only had a little bit of meat and cheese inside and that was it, on the sides I had the rice which was seasoned well and tasty, the beans though were in a little tiny dish did not have flavor and I counted only 5 beans inside it, not sure who scooped that one. Slaw was decent but limited. Overall good experience I would try more drinks again and maybe a different entree but probably won't do the tacos again read more

The food was delicious. I had the brisket tacos. It came with 3 tacos, slaw (I did not eat) and a small ramekin of beans. Chips and salsa were delicious as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
