La Patrona may become my very favorite small-town Oklahoma Mexican restaurant. The Chile Relleno was fabulous. Two medium poblanos battered, deep fried and filled with very well-seasoned ground beef. This was not the traditional egg battering or soft fried coating. The rellenos had a crispy crunchy coating, covered with queso. Crunchy, crispy meat filled, deep fried rellenos are a rare find in the land of OkieMex. It was served on a blazing hot platter with equally delicious beans and rice. A phenomenal plate of TexMex. I will never try anything else from the menu. This is what I will come back to enjoy. This plate of food made an impression. My wife's plate of enchiladas was equally delicious. She gave it 6 stars out of five. The seasoned meat and beans made a great lunch. The start of the meal was an exceptionally delicious surprise. The salsas. The Green Salsa! A small warm bowl of green ecstasy. Fiery hot with fresh jalapeno, cilantro, diced onion, tomato, tomatillo and possibly some avocado. I have had nothing like it anywhere. Who ever came up with this recipe is a master of salsas. It does have bite. If you are sensitive to capsaicin, blend it down with the delicious red salsa. The flavor of the green salsa will still stand out. I would return for the salsa alone. La Patrona is in a historic looking old building on the main drag through town, Route 66. If you are touring the mother road here is your lunch stop. The service was average from a young man that seemed to speak very little English. The restaurant was clean and brightly decorated. The less than pristine restrooms, were a signature reminder that this is a small-town restaurant. Fantastic Food! If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

My family and I went to Bristow today and decided to try out La Patrona for lunch. I've never been there and thought it would be a nice gamble. It paid off! We were seated quickly and the waiter got our drink orders first thing. If you're a sweet tea connoisseur, they know how to make it correctly here. I got the "Bristow Special," which is grilled chicken on rice covered with cheese sauce and a couple of flour tortillas. The meal was flavorful and was just enough to fill me up and not over. The place was busy with the lunch crowd but yet was not loud. My family enjoyed their lunch and we had a great time. If you're ever in Bristow and get a chance, give this place a chance to earn your business, you just might like it.

Great food, service, and sweet calm ambience. Great family town vibes to stop in if traveling.

Little hole in the wall but worthy of a stop for lunch or dinner. I had the chili rellinos and it was perfect.

They advertise as authentic Mexican and they are, with what I would call a little TexMex added in here and there. It was and excellent find for us. Two of the best plates of Mexican food that we have had, in small town Oklahoma restaurants. Nothing bland from the salsa to the beans, excellent spicy flavors. My wife had the Fried Tamales. Two fried until golden brown, topped with tomatillo salsa verde and queso blanco, garnished with diced tomatoes and cilantro. Served with rice and beans. For me the Papa Poblano. It was a different presentation of my favorite Mexican food items. An amazing combination of a deep-fried cheese filled Chile Relleno rolled up in a slab of fajita beef, topped with sauteed shrimp in a creamy mushroom chipotle sauce, garnished with diced tomatoes and cilantro. It is difficult to explain how delicious this combination was. The creamy cheesy spicy chipotle sauce made the meal. On the side, the perfect charro beans, topped with fresh chopped jalapeno, tomato and onion. These 5-star meals you have to try. They favor TexMex in presentation and spiciness. A great Mexican restaurant, attractive décor, comfortable chairs and booths, with small town friendly service. Beer and Tequila is available. Their menu can be found online.

I've heard of the highly lauded 918 Maples Tacos & Cantina many times since I moved back so I finally decided to try it on August 28th, 2025. Since then, I've experienced 918 Maples on different occasions and I'd say that it deserves the high praise. I've eaten at 918 Maples atleast 4 times, twice at the food truck (4931 S Union Ave.) and twice at this location. On 8/28, I arrived around 5:50pm. The walls are filled with color & different decorations, from murals to Latin-American art as well as TV's behind the bar for entertainment. The area is very home-like, compact, with just enough space for walking lanes. There's only one booth while the rest of the seating is either tables or at the bar. The host podium is at the door immediately upon entrance, I sat at the bar. Their menus are large but not overwhelming. On Tuesdays, tacos are $2 each. This doesn't include Birria, fish or Shrimp which are $3 or $4 on Tuesdays. My server was Diego, great guy! I ordered 5 Tacos: 2 Birria, 1 chicken 1 Carne Asada and 1 El Pastor. I also ordered a Paloma and a small queso. The meal comes with chips & Salsa, brought out immediately. Their chips are thicker and their salsa is mild. Add a little salt, good to go! I'm a fan of white queso but I particularly enjoyed theirs, worth the $2. The food came out within 10mins, not long at all. Two ramekins of salsa & 4 tacos. Each taco was amazing individually. The el pastor had crispy edges on the meat, the carne asada was soft & delicate while the birria was to DIE for. Only criticism is that the chicken was a little too salty but not terrible overall. As I mentioned, I ordered 5 tacos, queso & a Paloma but only received 4 tacos. I wasn't upset about the paloma, I could do without. But, I was a little uneasy about being shorted 1 taco, especially since I paid for 5. However, I didn't fret. I paid the bill & praised the staff because they deserve it! Since then, I've returned once or twice. Each time, usually on a Tuesday, the space is decently filled which a sign of a well-run & good quality establishment and the food is just as good. I consistently ordered tacos but I would gladly try their Queso Chicken, Rustic Quesadilla, or Birria Pizza. I've had their tacos at their food truck as well and, though the ambiance isn't comparable, the service is sweeter & the food is just as good. Bummer that their food truck doesn't do discounted tacos on Tuesdays. Photos here are from 8/26/25, 9/16/25 and 1/6/26. Had it not been for the forgotten taco, this would be a FULL 5-Star review!
