This is our second time eating here. We are not local but if we were this would for sure be on our monthly rotation. We have never had to wait, which is a huge plus for us (it's always been a Sunday or Monday). We drive by the popular touristy places with long waits. Not us-look for the local, smaller business where the service is awesome and the food is hot. The husband got the fish tacos-which he loved. The fish was grilled with a fresh slaw type topping with cilantro. Came with a lime wedge and some creamy sauce on the side. Husband rates 10/10. I ordered the ground beef chimichanga. Heaven on a plate if your into a golden, lightly fried delicious burrito. Red Chile sauce on the side for me. Both plates came with rice and beans. Mine also had pico and guacamole. Yum. Chips were crispy and the salsa was fresh. Service quick and polite. Going back next trip! read more

Delicious food that was made with very fresh ingredients across the board. A little more elevated than your typical Mexican restaurant at home. Best local Mexican restaurant We have come here several times over the past year as well as other Mexican restaurants trying to find the one. This place is it for us. The food has always been good to great. Tonight was great! I had the chicken Gordo plate. It was a large roll burrito filled with mostly meat. The chips and salsa were fresh, not overly seasoned but flavorful. We never ran out of drinks, refills brought before they ran empty. I saw a few posts mentioning prices but I feel it is priced on average for the general area and well worth what you receive in food and service. Greeting at the door had been not so great in the past for us but tonight they were right on cue as we walked in. Table service has been great almost every time we have been here. We feel so comfortable here almost like family. Which leads me to the next thing we love about here. Our family includes a sweet dog that we like to bring with us. He is our family and they treat him as such too. They offer him fresh water every time, seat at the table, and loving attention. For us, this feels like home with flavors of Tex-Mex where you can be a bit laid back even bring your canine buddy along. Maybe it will be for you too. When our daughters were younger, La Paz was our go to Mexican restaurant. As they got older and we got busier and Destin got more crowded, we stop making the trek. We had errands in Destin so thought we would try it again. And just loved it. While it's still summer, most tourists are gone so there was no wait. The waitress was prompt, chips and salsa yummy, queso creamy. Duh hub really enjoyed his steak fajitas. I got the three way quesadilla, steak, chicken and shrimp. Perfectly grilled, served with crema. We will definitely go back, between Labor Day and Memorial Day! read more

Well after being seated for 25 minutes with no help, I grabbed chips and salsa from an empty table with no shame. Quite frustrating that an empty table had chips and salsa before a party of 6 already seated. Food was wonderful and our waiter who most definitely was hand selected to serve us was great (it was clear we were not in her area and the manager told her to serve us). Definitely recommend avoiding Chris who was rude and dismissive but everyone else was great. If you seat in the back corner of the cave restaurant, be prepared to be ignored. read more

Honestly, sort of a hidden gem. I've been coming to Destin for quite some time and never thought to stop in here. Queso Dip was great, Margaritas we're great, fajitas were great, enchiladas were great, service was great. This place served fresh dishes and great food. The cup of queso was great! The championes was delicious. Fresh fish on a bed of crunch slaw. The beans and rice were a good side, nothing special but still good. The mango salsa and pico was also good. The chicken enchiladas were very good. Nothing mind blowing, but definitely good. Food was decent good black beans. Shrimp and steak were hot and fresh. Chips and Salsa given taste only like tomato paste. I enjoyed the street tacos here, but the service was by no means great. We walked in and the hostess (a teenage girl) seated us at a table. Her mannerisms did not make us feel welcome at all. She "threw" the menus down on the table and scurried off. There was no "your server will be with you soon" or anything of that nature. She seemed young and insecure so I let it slip because I am sure that when I started as a hostess I had those moments too. However, we sat there for about 10 to 15 minutes and no one came to the table. We had no drinks or anything. A young lady brought us some chips and salsa and we started to wonder where our server was because it was a Tuesday night and the place was practically empty. We assumed this was our server but after delivering the chips and salsa, which were delicious btw, she also walked away with no drink order. Finally, another woman came and got us drinks and took our order. She seemed nice enough but there was no intention of being prompt with service. The food took a while to come out which was fine because my partner and I enjoyed talking together. When the food arrived we were very satisfied with it, but our server did not come around often to check on us and we were waiting at the end for her to bring us a check. She came and asked if we were ready for it and we responded that we were. She then disappeared for another significant amount of time before returning with our bill. I think the staff could use some improvement in attitude and service speed. I would be more understanding if they were busy with tables, but there were literally three other tables in the restaurant and the servers were not spending their time on those tables either. As for the hostess, I think someone needs to teach her how to interact with people because that is literally her job. If it's her first month, let it slide. As a manager, I would fire her if it does not improve after a month. read more

Food was okay and quick. But just a note, not one Hispanic worker to be seen when we went. We typically expect large portions and great service when we eat Mexican. The food was as if Americans prepared Mexican food. So not authentic, bland food. Hardly anyone in there and when we showed up, several people showed up after. This place is really good! The Ensalata Acapulco was very good. The tacos were really good too as we tried the chicken, spicy beef, and fish which just happened to be grouper, my personal favorite! I also got to try the chicken enchiladas. Those were really good. The margaritas were not strong but definitely got us to that point. The salsa was very fresh. The salsa verde was excellent! Our service was pretty bad but we knew what we were getting ourselves into as the hostess told us there was only one server. It was all good. As we waited for our drinks we went thru at least 2 baskets of chips. I think you should give this place a shot. It is very good. read more

We decided on a fajita buffet for our wedding reception and chose La Paz for catering and the food was phenomenal! Chatham and Dylan and Jesica were friendly and made sure everything was perfect and our guests LOVED the food and drinks! We served the leftovers to the family for breakfast! So good! We drove by La Paz several times during our stay in Destin, and finally stopped for dinner last night. We are very happy we did! I got the LaPaz and the wife 3 beef taco's with a side of rice. The salsa they started us out with was great! They make their own, and we both loved it. Watch out, because you eat to much salsa and chips and you won't be able to eat your generous portion of the meal you order! That was my problem! How do I rate La Paz? The food gets a 5, the service gets a 5, the facility gets a 5 and the value gets a 5. The salsa gets a 5+! So, I rate La Paz a solid 5, and will return at least one more time in the time we have left in Destin. read more

Decided to go to this spot during my family vacation stay here at Destin. Food was amazing!!!! Portions were so big !! Only reason why I am NOT giving the 5 star was because of the horrible service our waitress OKSANA gave us (only reason why I even know her name is because I checked the tab at the end) . She came to the table and never even told us her name . She never bothered to give us a drink refill or more chips. After someone else gave us our food she never bothered to check up on how everything came out ... then when we were almost finished there was several dirty plates she could most definitely take out of our way but she didn't. I saw her checking on other tables just fine but she was flat out ignoring us . I'm usually more lenient with situations like this because I myself am a server and I know how it's like to be on the other side of the table . I had the feeling she was treating us the way she was because of us being the only LATINO family there. SURPRISE HONEY YOU WORK AT A MEXICAN RESTAURANT have you never seen Latino people before or what ??? Did you assume we weren't gonna tip you good or what ? Cuz jokes on oksana because I tip 40 % everywhere I go when I get awesome service . But since you assumed , you only got the 18% you included . The my experience in destin has been great, except for this restaurant. Food was great. The service was well below par. When we arrived we had to wait outside fir a table in an almost empty establishment. When we were seated our waitress came at least six times to see if we were ready to order. Once we did place our order four tables were sat placed there orders and paid before we got our food. Not going to mention the rudness of the waitress and the other customers at the restaurant. As a whole we felt like we had swastikas tattooed on our foreheads once we arrived at this place. Do not recommend going to this restaurant. read more

I had a local musician pull me in here for the first time last night for Taco Tuesday to hear Curle on guitar, but I gotta say, very well done La Paz. The main bartender, Jessica and possible proprietress (?) of this establishment is a heart breaker of a beautiful person inside and out and she made my friend and I feel as though we were the only two afloat at the bar in that sea of culinary chaos. She got us well fed, kept us from going dry, and her other bartender was also completely amazeballs to boot. Go Vols. Go La Paz. The live music was just right, the food and libation was economical, but out of this world good. I thought that once we had ordered that it may take up to an hour to receive, and I was more than ready to wait, but just minutes later this smiling handsome man shows up and delivers some of the best $2 tacos I have put into my face, to date. My wife and I were really excited to try out this so called hidden treasur. Turns out it's definitely not a treasure. We had the worst experience at La Paz. First we waited 20 minutes for someone to come to get our order. Then we waited 35 minutes for out water , no one came. The waitress Monica came and she said she will go and check and she didn't came back. After another 10 minutes a guy came and told us that they never put our order in the system and he has the decency to try to make up for messup. He offered to give us a gift card for the inconvenience but we would never want to go back there. Monica never came back to our table to let us know what happened. We were very disappointed in the service we received. read more

My family and I arrived to Destin, FL with empty stomachs. We came across this restaurant while searching for another in the same area. It seemed very busy so we assumed it would be great. Walking in, it felt like a very fun atmosphere. We were attended to quickly and the server was sweet. Though all of this sounds great, I've rated it 3 stars because the rice that came with our plates was cold and not fully cooked, one of the food runners that brought our avocado fry appetizer to us just threw the plate onto our table rudely, and the entrees are waaaaay over priced. I've have been to MANY Mexican restaurants that were VERY Reasonably priced and was given a substantial amount of food. However, despite the negatives, the avocado fries appetizer and chicken chimichangas were absolutely delicious. read more
