Dirty food. Watch out people don't go to this restaurant i went friday night 07-18-2014 and ordered to go, we got home we ate i felt a weird taste in the mussels but i thought its little more lemon or lime then what it should be, as you the mussels is covered with tomato and red onion so i didn't see it but in the last piece i smelled a very bad smell so i took the onions and the tomato from the top and i saw the mussels it was looking bad with lots if mold so i thro it in the trash but it was to late i already ate 5 of it and i am very sick with shellfish poisoning and i have bad cramps. At that night i call the restaurant the manager wasn't there so i talk to some one over there and he said sorry for what happen and he took my number and said the manager will call me but no one called. So they rather feed the people bad then thro it if it gos bad to make more money, this restaurant should be ashamed from that but i believe they don't care, all what they care for is money, nasty dirty restaurant. Went for an anniversary dinner and the food was not what we expected. The reviews were too kind. This has been the worse Peruvian food that we've had in Miami. The rice dish was 1lb of yellow rice with very limited seafood. Chicharon de camarones were 6 shrimp and greasy for $17. I don't get the rave reviews. To make a little history La Perla was one of the best seafood restaurants in Lima back in the 80's and 90's. It was located in Lince in the corner of Arequipa Avenue and Risso Street. By that time it was a very busy restaurant and you had to wait at least an hour to get a table. Years later living in Texas I learned that a restaurant named La Perla opened in Kendall so in one of my trips to Miami I went to take a look and realized that the owners were the same people and that most dishes also were the same. One the most famous appetizers in Lima was "Piqueo La Perla" and now they are serving it too. It is simply a delicious sampler of fried seafood containing "anticuchos de camarones" (shrimp on a stick), "conchitas a la parmesana" (parmesan conch), "enrollado de pescado" (rolled fish), etc. Practically any fish or seafood plate that you order is very good. My favorites are "Arroz Chaufa de Pescado" (Fried Rice with fish), "Jalea Mixta" (Fried Fish pieces with fried seafood on the top), Pescado Saltado (Pieces of Fried fish sauteed with french fries, onions, pepper and tomatoes). You may order even so some of these are not in the menu. To drink you may order "Chicha Morada" or "Cuzqueña peruvian beer". Other non seafood plates like huancaina potatoe or lomo saltado are good but not as good as the seafood. Every restaurant has specialties and La Perlas's specialties are Fish and Seafood. And advice: Never go to a seafood place and order meat or viceversa. Is it worth the money? Of course, every penny. The place: nothing fancy but family ambiance and baby friendly. I had heard so much about this restaurant from my friends. Last night my husband and I finally tried it with our friends. The restaurant is a small, nothing fancy, just a great place for great Peruvian food. We tried several dishes to share. We had tiraditos, yuca ahuancaina, lomo salteado, jalea, and the dessert was delicious although I can't remember the name, only that it was dulce de leche...amazing! I know we tried another dish with mussels which was delicious and very fresh. What I liked the best about this place is the freshness of the food and all the flavors. I'm very sad about what has happened here with the whole bathroom incident, but the owner doesn't deserve to be bashed over what her "son" or any employee did without her knowledge. The owner is an amazing women, who works hard and the reality is sometimes even as a mom, you don't know what your children (even grown men) are capable of. La Perla is an excellent Peruvian restaurant. The food is fresh and well prepared, and has a delicious combination of flavors. The staff is very accommodating and service is excellent. Laurita, the owner, is a charming person. My favorite dish is "Ronda Marina," which comes in a large tray divided into sections: Rice with Seafood, Jalea (breaded and fried chunks of squid, fish, and shrimp), Ceviche, and Mussels on the shell with chopped purple onions, lime juice, cilantro and corn. I love to accompany my dinner with a Chicha Morada, a drink made with purple corn, pineapple peels, apple, quince, cinnamon, cloves, sugar, and lime juice. I went with a friend for a lunch here and it was amazing! First off we got seated very quickly in a very nice booth, then we got a very nice waitress to service us quickly by providing our drinks and taking our appetizer and lunch order (plus some to take back to work as some of our coworkers were hungry.) We quickly got our appetizers and were very BIG (not like a small size appetizer that you would eat in one bite) almost the size of a regular dish; my friend actually got full from the appetizer that she couldn't get started on her lunch dish (which was also very BIG.) When we asked the waitress to pack our lunches to go (as I got full too) she did it very fast and even included more bread and other additives that the restaurant offers to take with us. We got the bill and knowing how large the plates were it was a great price. We got great service, great food, and a great overall experience at an AWESOME price. If you love Peruvian food and would like a lot of it, then go to this restaurant. read more

My family and I have been going to the Perla for over 2 years now. Their food is one of the best in Miami...and I have a very picky taste when it comes to Peruvian food. Their seafood is always fresh. The "aji" that they serve on the table with the warm rolls always has the perfect hint of spiciness and is flavorful. i was there past 7 pm on 10/18/2015. we ordered ceviche and french fries. the fries were cold and soggy. the service was worst than average. the price was higher than expected for the service and food served. had to returned fries while having the workers staring at you, very unprofessional and expensive overall. i would highly not recommend this restaurant. i have been eating peruvian food for the past 25 years and first time i do write a negative feedback. look for dr limon, best experience for the price!. read more
